The right way for high school couples to spend their time (weekends) ②
One stop on the train from Ofuna Station. We got off at Fujisawa station, and arrived at an electronics store north of the station. Our hands were still intertwined in the so-called lover’s connection, and we laughed at each other’s embarrassment whenever our eyes met.
“Um, how should we look around?”
I asked Riko, looking at the information board next to the elevator. Normally, my shopping trip would only take about fifteen minutes at most, since I would just look up the store section I wanted and head straight there. But today, Riko is with me. If I can, I want to prolong this time with Riko as much as possible. As I was thinking like that, Riko asked, “Why don’t we take a slow look from the top floor?” I was almost gutted that she suggested what I wanted to do.
“Of course, if Minato-kun doesn’t mind…!”
Riko hurriedly added. There’s no way I don’t like it.
So, we took the elevator to the top floor and took a leisurely look around each floor.
“Ah! This looks like the electronics floor.”
“Really. Then I guess the circulator is on this floor, too.”
“Let’s find out!”
Is it because we are holding hands? Or is it because it’s weekends and the store is crowded? Whenever she talked to me, Riko stood a little taller and put her lips to my ear. When we were that close, our shoulders, arms, and thighs would naturally touch, and I would almost scream out each time.
I wonder what Riko thinks about it. She was smiling all the time, and I could tell that she was enjoying herself. Anyways, I’m glad she’s not bored.
“Look, Minato-kun! I found a circulator!”
When I looked at where Riko was pointing, I saw a row of circulators lined up at the opposite side of the fan section. There were more of them than I had imagined. At a quick glance, there was a wide variety of prices and functions, and it would be hard to choose just one from among them.
Just then, a clerk walked by at just the right moment.
“Riko, do you want to ask that person about it?”
“Yes, you’re right. — Excuse me, which is the most expensive circulator in this store?”
“Eh?”
The most expensive!?
The clerk came running up to me with a beaming face and showed us the circulator, which was an order of magnitude more expensive than the cheaper ones, and recited the various functions of the product. Riko nodded her head with a serious face.
“How about it? You can use it for business purposes without any problems.”
No, no, no. We’re just using it at home, so there’s no need for it to be for professional use.
“… Riko. I’m sure there are cheaper alternatives…?”
I didn’t want Riko to spend as much money as possible, so I talked to her in a whisper.
“But it’s something that supports Minato-kun’s life, you know? Then I’d like to buy the best one I can find…”
The trouble is that Riko seems to be quite enthusiastic about buying this product.
“Hmm, but…”
The clerk, who was probably trying to get her to buy an expensive item, quickly read the situation and went around to Riko’s side.
“Oh well, boyfriend. They say big is better than small!”
“…! Mi-Minato-kun…! You, my boyfriend…!”
Riko’s face instantly turned red, and she shook my hand lightly while we were still holding hands. The look in her eyes shone like, “Did you hear that? Did you hear that?” I was thinking: What is this? It’s so cute.
I’ve never had a stranger treat me like Riko’s boyfriend before, and Riko’s reaction to the clerk’s words is just too cute.
… So I look like Riko’s boyfriend.
I feel out of touch with reality and happy at the same time.
“So how about it?”
Riko rubbed her hands together, turned to the clerk and exclaimed, “I’ll buy it!”.
I don’t know why Riko seems to be floating in happiness; is it just my imagination?
