Chapter 3 Let’s make sure we can do it
“…Even if there’s everything, it’s not just about seeing.”
Having progressed through the screen to the tenth page, I halted.
In the end, I realized that the current situation hadn’t improved at all.
“Well, I guess it’s not that bad to die while looking at the things I love…”
Gazing at the first page adorned with a spectrum of colorful ink bottles, I stretched my hand toward the screen.
The moment my hand touched one of the ink bottles, that ink…
Was in my hand.
“Huh…? I can take it out…?”
Is this an illusion?
No, I’m actually holding it.
Smooth and cute, the bottle is undoubtedly present in my hand.
Upon opening the lid, there’s ink inside, just as there should be!
“Could it be… that everything in here can be taken out and used?”
“If that’s the case…!”
The K-store bento box I left in the kitchen!
With that, I could quiet down the rumbling in my stomach…
…It wasn’t there.
I searched intently, right up to the last page.
But my beloved K-store bento was nowhere to be found.
“I really could’ve used some food…”
Fwoosh!
The screen… changed.
Food from the kitchen and items I had stored were lined up.
“…Are they organized by room? No, perhaps by food and non-food items…?”
What did I say to bring up the ink bottle screen first…?
Oh, right…
“Collection”
“I got it!
The ink bottle screen appeared!
“Food.”
There it is–––––!
Snacks like chips, bottled water, and vegetable juice that I always kept in the room!
There are also condiments here!
Could there be a bento here too?!
…
…
There wasn’t.
“What kind of logic is this…?”
I noticed in the corner of the screen, it says ‘3↑.’
“…Does that mean three or more?”
Upon closer inspection, I noticed that next to the product names for the food items, there’s a downward-facing triangle symbol.
Touching the triangle symbol, a lineup appeared, scrolling down.
“Wow, for the chips, the product names and flavors… I see, it’s showing only items where there are three or more combined.”
Probably, there wasn’t a bento because there was only one item labeled as ‘bento’ in my house.
“The representation for the collections is different… ‘5↑’… but it’s not grouped like the food items?”
‘Ink’ and ‘fountain pens’ are arranged by manufacturer, series, and color.
It seems the downward triangle appears only when there are two or more of the same item.
The representation of the collections seems designed for enjoyable browsing.
What a fantastic feature that caters to collectors…!
And to top it off, you can carry all of them with you – it’s simply amazing!
As I brought the ink I had taken out earlier closer to the screen, it was swiftly drawn back inside.
The items I had taken out seemed to be capable of being stored again.
For now, I retrieved my shoes, changed my socks, and put on a hoodie.
…But why are clothes and shoes categorized under ‘Collection’?
‘Everyday items’ or ‘Apparel’ would seem more appropriate.
“Anyway, let’s grab something to eat.”
Only potato chips were readily available, so I consumed them along with a vegetable juice.
Once these are gone, I guess that’s it…
Having water and a pot is useless if you can’t ignite a flame to boil it.
In other words, no cup noodles for me…
My outdoor skills are not just zero, but negative, so starting a fire is out of the question!
“There was only one emergency kit bag I could take…”
Living alone, you wouldn’t buy multiples, huh…
