Chapter 4: My Big Sister Is Forceful
“Miha, ready to sleep?”
My big sister asked me that as I nodded off sleepily.
“Yeah… I’ll sleep, but alone.”
“No way. We’re sleeping together.”
“Nuh… I’ll sleep alone.”
I said that and tried to stand, but my big sister scooped me up in a princess carry.
I was so surprised that I woke up a bit.
“Big sister, what are you doing? Put me down.”
I said that while squirming a little to get down.
“Miha, it’s dangerous if you thrash around, you know?”
“Ugh… Then, you shouldn’t do this in the first place.”
“If I didn’t, you’d probably go to your own room alone, so I couldn’t help it.”
…Even if I tried to sleep in my own room, she’d follow me anyway.
“…Liar. You just wanted to do this, didn’t you?”
I said that to my big sister.
She’s always so forceful, so if she got even a little embarrassed, it’d feel like a small payback.
“Oh, you figured me out.”
I said it hoping for that, but she didn’t seem fazed at all.
“Come on, we’re going to my room, so put your arms around my back so you don’t fall.”
“…I can walk myself.”
“If you don’t put your arms around, I’ll carry you like this.”
She said that and actually started walking, so I hurriedly wrapped my arms around her back, holding on so I wouldn’t fall.
“…You’re such an idiot, big sister.”
She let out a chuckle and carried me into her room.
Once in her room, she set me down on the bed right away and covered me with a blanket.
“…Aren’t you getting in, big sister?”
“Didn’t you want to sleep alone?”
“…I only gave up because you dragged me to your room.”
“Well then, I’ll let it slide as that. …And I’ll join you as soon as I get ready for tomorrow.”
She’s definitely misunderstanding. …I really just gave up.
Whatever. I’ll just sleep.
…Maybe I’ll stay awake until she gets into bed. …I might wake up when she gets in anyway, and it’s still bright with the lights on.
After a while, my big sister got into bed.
“Good night, big sister.”
“You stayed up just to say that?”
“…No way.”
“Good night, Miha.”
“…Yeah.”

Chapter 5: I’m Not a Kid Anymore
“Mm… Good morning, big sister.”
“Good morning, Miha.”
When I woke up, my big sister was watching my sleeping face. …At first, it was just embarrassing and annoying, but I could never wake up before her, so I gave up.
“Miha, I prepared breakfast. Let’s eat together.”
“Okay.”
I got out of bed and left my big sister’s room.
I wanted to eat breakfast quickly and head to school.
When I reached the living room, my big sister brought breakfast.
“Let’s eat.”
As my big sister sat next to me with her food, I clasped my hands and said that.
“It’s delicious.”
“Glad to hear.”
“Thanks for the meal.”
After finishing breakfast, I said that to my big sister and went to my room to check my bag.
…Alright, I didn’t forget anything. …I think.
After checking my bag, I changed into my uniform and left my room.
“Big sister, I’m about to head out…”
“Did you forget anything?”
“…I’m not a kid anymore, so I’m fine.”
I’m already in my third year of middle school. …In just one more year, I’ll be a high schooler like her.
“Really? Right, a kid wouldn’t have done that to me.”
“Tch, that was! I was a kid… I didn’t know…”
“Aren’t you saying you’re not a kid anymore?”
“That’s about now! That was back then!”
To stop her from digging up the past, I left the house.
Then, my big sister grabbed her stuff and came out with me.
“I’ll go with you partway.”
She said that to me as she locked the door.
…Well, I guess that’s normal for sisters, so it’s fine.
…Or rather, I gave up on this too. Even when I say I can go to school alone, she always follows me anyway.
“Let’s go.”
I said that while dodging her attempt to hold my hand.
That’s just too embarrassing.
“Big sister, I told you not to do that outside.”
“So it’s okay inside?”
“…There’s no reason to hold hands at home.”
Standing in front of the house talking like this is a waste of time, so let’s just go.
We walked, chatting about trivial things, until we reached the spot where we always part ways.
“Well, big sister, I’m going this way.”
“Be careful.”
“Yeah… you too.”
After parting with my big sister, I walked to school faster than when we were together.

Chapter 6: School
“Good morning!”
I said that as I entered the classroom.
Then, a few people replied, “Good morning!” back to me.
While exchanging those greetings, I placed my bag on my desk and sat down.
“Good morning.”
“…Mm, good morning.”
After sitting at my desk, I greeted my best friend with long black hair, Futakawa Natsuki, who sat in front of me.
“You look sleepy as usual.”
“…Not just sleepy… I’m actually sleepy.”
Natsuki denied my comment like that.
Well, even if she said that, I honestly didn’t care either way.
“…You just thought it doesn’t matter either way, didn’t you?”
“H-How did you know!?”
“…Just a hunch.”
A hunch…? Not because it showed on my face? Well, whatever, it doesn’t matter.
“Anyway, I’m… gonna sleep. …Wake me up.”
“You always say that, but you wake up on your own when the bell rings.”
“There might be times I can’t wake up, you know.”
…Well, fair enough.
I do have times when I can wake up and times when I can’t, so I couldn’t deny it.
“Ugh, fine. If you don’t wake up, I’ll wake you.”
“…Mm, thanks.”
“Yeah, yeah.”
After that, Natsuki woke up on her own and attended classes as expected.
Classes ended, homeroom finished, and it was after school.
“Natsuki, wanna come to my place today?”
“Ugh.”
When I invited Natsuki to hang out at my house, she seemed reluctant for some reason.
Why does she seem so unwilling? …Am I being disliked? …N-No, I don’t think so. …I want to believe that.
“Why do you seem so reluctant?”
“Because when I go to your house, you get all clingy, Miha. …It’s not that I hate it, but your big sister is scary.”
…Sorry about that.
I thought maybe if I acted all lovey-dovey with Natsuki, my big sister might give up on me? That’s why I end up getting so close with Natsuki.
…Well, it’s not just pointless; it feels like my big sister’s gotten even pushier.
“Should we skip it today then?”
“Yeah… let’s do it another time.”
“Another time is okay?”
“Yeah. …Your big sister is scary, that’s true, but I’m just too sleepy to go today.”
Being sleepy is normal for you, isn’t it?
Well, if that’s the case, I can just invite her another time.
She’s probably telling the truth. …After all, she’s come to my house to hang out plenty of times. …If she really hated it, she’d refuse.
“Alright, I’m heading home then.”
“Mm… see you.”
“Yeah, see you.”
I said that to Natsuki, grabbed my bag, and left the classroom.
Since Natsuki didn’t want to hang out, I’m kinda bored. …My big sister’s a high schooler, so she gets home later than me.
When I got home, I thought about that, washed my hands, and went to my room.
…Guess I’ll study to kill time.
“I wish big sister would come home soon…”
