- Chap 66: The All-Out War - Which is the True Devil ①
“―――Grapnir.”
Fel summoned chains and immediately activated them, constricting the demon’s body and bringing it down.
“Yaaagh!”
With a short death cry, one demon Fel.
“What are you?!”
Seeing their comrade killed, the demons turned their attention towards us.
“Ah, yes, of course this would happen.”
I summoned my Black Sword and bisected an approaching demon.
“They’re surprisingly easy to take down.”
“Crow-sama, if you finish quickly, I will feed you properly.”
“Eh…?”
Maybe I should go easy and prolong this.
But Fel showed no sign of holding back, continuing her relentless assault on the demons. Her delicate figure belied the brutal way she wielded the chains, crushing and pressurizing them to death.
Yeah… I’m surprised too. The women of Devil’s Triumphant Return are really strong.
We took care of the ones on the ground. Looking up, I saw black figures flying around – demons.
“They’re not very strong, but there are a lot of them.”
Dealing with large numbers can be a hassle.
Taking a break, I activated the magical device “Denwa” to call everyone at once.
“Hello, is everyone okay?”
“We’ve encountered demons here too, but no problems.”
“Crow-chan! Onee-chan’s going to save you right now! And then we’ll embrace love and exchange passionate kisses—”
“Crow-kun, is this a new attraction? It’s so unchallenging and boring. Hey, can we eat these things?”
“I’m fine, Crow-san. It was supposed to be just the two of us next time… Of course, we’ll extend that time for the interruption, right?”
“I’m fine, Crow. Yuma’s okay too. I’m making sure she doesn’t lose control.”
“Nii-ni, Yuma’s doing her best, so I want a reward!”
“These annoying low-level demons… Young master, please don’t worry about me, just find a safe place.”
“Hey! Don’t get cocky with such meager attacks! Master, I’m fine too. This is actually a good way to let off steam.”
Everyone seems fine. But I’m more worried about what comes after this.
“We’re coming to help too!”
Adventurers who had managed to retrieve their weapons joined us.
They charged with full force, but their blades didn’t cut through and were repelled.
“These demons are tough!”
“Why could those two cut through them so easily?”
“Is there a weakness? You guys have been defeating them, you must know! Tell us!”
“A weakness, huh…”
I looked towards Fell.
“Weakness? If you crush their bodies into pieces, they’ll die, right?”
“Eh, uh…”
The adventurers looked at us with a mix of awe and fear.
That’s how Demon’s Triumph Nightmare thinks.
Not exploiting weaknesses or looking for openings, but crushing the opponent completely, demonstrating the difference in strength and ensuring they never dare challenge again.
“Hehe, hehehe… The sin of interrupting my precious, private time with Crow-sama is grave… hehehe, hehehe.”
With a sinister smile, Fell manipulated the chains, capturing the airborne demons and slamming them to the ground.
It’s hard to tell who the real demon is here.
“I guess Fell has this area covered, so I should head somewhere else—”
Just then, I sensed an immense magical power nearby.
“Hehehe, looks like you’re the strongest ones here.”
From above, a demon, more muscular and robust than the others, descended to the ground, its hulking body moving towards us with large strides.
“…You, you have more magical power than the other demons. Are you their boss or something?”
“Boss? Hehehe, can’t say I’m the boss of those weaklings. They’re just toys, mere playthings. Just like you strong ones, hehehe.”
The demon laughed heartily, his irritating laughter filling the space.
Fell, with a short breath, wrapped her chains around the demon’s neck.
Snap… Crunch!
The chain constricted and severed the neck. The bodyless demon fell to the ground, its head rolling, stopped only by its horns.
“Well, it’s not that easy, is it?”
“Hey, you can’t just cut off my head while I’m laughing… hehehe.”
The head continued to speak, eerily laughing. There was no blood at the severed section, suggesting something unusual.
“So, you’re a half-demon, half-dullahan?”
“Dullahan?”
This demon wasn’t just any ordinary demon. A Dullahan typically appears as a headless knight, usually without horns or wings and riding a headless horse. They’re often considered a type of fairy rather than a demon, though they’re generally treated as demons.
This demon seemed to possess characteristics of both a demon, with horns and wings, and a Dullahan, with its detachable head.
“Does this mean… it’s immortal?”
“It appears so.”
Great, no end to this. It can’t be killed, no matter how much we crush or slash it.
The headless demon picked up its head by the horns, reattached it, and resumed its unsettling laughter.
“Hehe, that’s right. I’m Ifrit, invincible and the ultimate fire wielder.”
With a snap of his fingers, he unleashed a beam of dark purple flames.
The flames rapidly spread, engulfing the sturdy buildings of Orfen Resort in mere moments.
“Screams and chaos erupted among the left-behind tourists, while the adventurers hesitated.”
“Hehehe, the weak flailing helplessly… what a pitiful, satisfying sight.”
The scene turned into a vision of hell, surrounded by flames with no escape. The intense heat was overwhelming.
We could handle this, but we had to consider the tourists.
“Should we extinguish the fire first for safety, then fight…?”
Fell, beside me, seemed angrier than the flames.
“My meal for Crow-sama got burned… that’s it. You, I will kill you.”
Summoning seven chains, she quietly initiated “Whirlwind Sylph.” The chains spun rapidly, forming a circle and dived into the flames.
“Hehehe, what can mere chains do? To extinguish my fire, you’d need water magic stronger than my— huh?”
Ifrit’s mockery turned to confusion as the flames vanished instantly.
“…Just chains extinguishing my fire… how did you do that, woman?”
“Fires can be put out with wind, can’t they?”
Ifrit tilted his head in bewilderment.
The logic might be lost on most, but I understood. Like fanning out a candle, she used the wind generated by the chains to extinguish the flames.
Still, was it really just that? Could the wind from spinning chains do this? Maybe it’s some kind of magic, typical of this otherworldly realm.
It was rare to see Fell use even a simple spell.
“Ah, woman… you’re strong, beautiful, and now even more intriguing… Hehehe, I want you…”
“I belong to Crow-sama. Now, show us your next spell, I’ll just nullify it.”
