Chapter 80: His Strange Theory Actually Worked

Engulfed by the violent storm, I was lifted into the air. I lost all control of my body, spinning around in circles within the tornado. 

“Ugh… I’m getting dizzy.”

Amidst the swirling storm, a shadow appeared, heading straight toward me. With a spear in her hand, she thrusted it at me. I barely managed to deflect it with my kitchen knife. 

“You…”

She was a woman with an androgynous face. Her short-cropped hair held the color of beautiful emerald green which reminded me of the tropical sea. Her appearance looked familiar though. Right. I had seen her photo beforehand to prepare for this rescue mission. Of course she looked familiar. This woman was Aoi Kadoyama, an S-rank explorer. The very person I had been searching for. She and her group had lost contact with the surface in this dungeon.

〈Aoi Kadoyama!?〉

〈You’re still alive!?〉

〈But why are you attacking Nishida!?〉

“Director?! Wh-Why?! Tha-That person is not a pervert…!”

A surprised voice came from the drone.

I called out to her, but I only received a silent treatment in return. Aoi Kadoyama moved freely in the midst of this rapidly spinning tornado. She thrusted her spear at me over and over. I was barely able to fend them off with a kitchen knife. This tornado must be her doing. Rather than a magic spell, this looked more like a special skill. Anyway, it was clear to see continuing to fight on her turf like this wouldn’t be good on me. 

That being said, it seemed I wouldn’t be able to escape this tornado prison easily. Whenever I tried to move toward the outside, the rotation speed of the tornado increased even further, throwing me back inside.

Won’t be able to escape, huh… In that case, I only have one option left. 

“I will need to destroy this tornado.”

I slashed a specific point in the tornado with all my might using my kitchen knife.

A huge crack ran through the wall of wind and I escaped through the gap. However, Aoi Kadoyama didn’t let it slide. She immediately followed after me, leaping out of the tornado to attack me again.

I deflected the rapid barrage of spear thrusts with my kitchen knife. I could move my body much better now that I had escaped that tornado prison. Her relentless spear attack became so much easier to handle. 

“Not only did he escape Aoi Kadoyama’s Storm Prison, but he’s deflecting her rapid thrusts almost effortlessly…”

Seizing a momentary opening between her attack, I squatted down and landed a powerful blow to her abdomen. Aoi Kadoyama was sent flying.

“I mean, there’s no way I can slash you with this kitchen knife, so…”

She crashed into the crystal walls. That must’ve hurt, but her expression didn’t change even for the slightest back. She immediately jumped back into the fray, ready to attack me again. 

“Hmm, what should I do?”

It seemed she was being controlled by someone too. Not to mention, since it seemed she couldn’t feel any pain, stopping her movement wouldn’t be an easy task to accomplish. 

“You leave me with no choice. I will heal you later with magic or potion, so please forgive me for doing this.”

With the wind at my back, I dodged Aoi Kadoyama’s spear attack, which was coming at me with tremendous speed. As I did, I slashed her lower legs with my kitchen knife. 

〈Wow, no mercy.〉

〈Yeah. He won’t be able to stop her unless he takes a drastic actions.〉

Her legs were rendered useless, and just when she was about to crash into the ground…

Raging storm carried her and she continued to soar through the air.

But at that moment, I realized something. Fortunately, I had a very convenient skill. The moment she closed the distance between us, I activated that skill.

And Aoi Kadoyama disappeared from sight.
