Upon hearing Taniguchi-san calling me, I suddenly snapped back to reality. 

“The-The moment it touched my tongue, it just melted away. My mouth was filled with rich sweetness and an exquisite hint of saltiness… I’ve never had sea urchin that tastes like this before.”

The moment I ate the flesh of the giant sea urchin, I was so blown away by the taste of Tamagawa Dungeon’s boss that my consciousness flew away from my body for a second there.

The day after I obtained new ingredients from the Tamagawa Dungeon, I decided to start putting the new menu in the restaurant. Not just one, but three new dishes all at once. One was a fish set meal. A grilled fish set with sea monster sashimi, 1.200 yen (tax included). The sashimi would vary, depending on availability. I planned on making this a permanent menu, not just a limited-time menu. 

Next, a squid set meal. This would be a limited-time menu until I ran out of squid. The set would include Kraken sashimi and Kraken tempura. 1.300 yen (tax included).

Lastly, a sea urchin rice bowl set. A generous amount of giant sea urchin served over rice. 1.500 yen (tax included).

As a bonus, I also added fried King Sahagin as a secret menu item. Frying it should reduce its unique flavor, making it easier to digest for normal people. Fried King Sahagin would be 400 yen (tax included). 

“There’s an even bigger line than usual today, Manager-san. As expected on the day of the new menu launch.”

“You’re right… Maybe we shouldn’t have released the new menu all at once. Maybe we should’ve delayed each release a bit…?”

“Fufu~ It’s fine. I’ve been getting used to the job lately. The timing couldn’t be perfect.”

My part-timer was really reliable. 

“Ah, right. Since today is a special occasion, do you want to try some of the new ingredients?”

“Huh? Are you sure, Manager-san?”

“Yeah. In fact, it’s better to know the taste before we start serving it to the customers.”

We still had some free time before opening, so I decided to let Osaka Mao try the new menu. 

“All of the sashimi is made from sea monsters, right?”

“Yeah, that’s right. Well, technically speaking, they look like regular fish though.”

Most monsters resembled creatures found on Earth. It was almost as if the monsters were modeled after creatures from Earth. 

“Mmmh! Delicious! This one tastes just like premium tuna! And this one, which looks like yellowtail… It actually tastes like premium yellowtail!”

“The monster that looks like tuna tastes like tuna, and the one that looks like yellowtail tastes like yellowtail.”

The monster that looked like squid tasted like squid, and the monster that looked like sea urchin tasted like sea urchin. It was strange, but I was grateful for this fact because it was simple and easy to understand.

“And this is the Kraken… Mmh! It’s so tender and crunchy at the same time! I can feel the fresh sweetness spreading in my mouth every time I take a bite! Ah! This one is delicious too!”

Finally, it was time for her to taste the sea urchin. 

“A-And this is the boss’ flesh… I-Is it really okay for me to eat this? The-Then… I will gratefully eat it…”

She cautiously scooped the sea urchin with a spoon and brought it to her mouth.

“…….”

Mao Osaka completely froze still. She stayed in that same position without moving a muscle. 

“Osaka-san…? Osaka-san…? Oiii~”

“Huh? Wha-What?”

After calling her a few times, Mao Osaka finally returned to reality.

“Did… Did my soul just leave my body for a moment there?”

“Just for a second. Yeah.”

“I mean, what’s with this sea urchin?! Is this really sea urchin?!”

“Technically speaking, it’s not a sea urchin. It’s a monster that resembles a sea urchin.”

At any rate, it seemed the sea urchin set would become a hit. Maybe the sea urchin would be gone in no time. 

We opened the restaurant and the moment we did, customers began flooding in. 

“Please start filling the seat from the back! No need to rush! It’s the first day, so we won’t run out of ingredients!”

Mao Osaka yelled and orders started pouring in as soon as the customers took their seats.

“One sea urchin rice bowl set, please!”

“I will have the sea urchin set too!”

“Me too!”

“I want the squid set meal!”

“Sea urchin rice bowl for me!”

“Squid set meal!

“I’d like the fish set meal!”

“Sea urchin!”

“Squid!”

Just as expected, the sea urchin was the most popular dish today. Around 60% of the customers ordered sea urchin rice bowls. Well, I thought there would be more than 60%< but it seemed not all people liked sea urchin. Squid set meals took up around 30% of the orders and the remaining 10% went for the fish set meal and other menu.

“As for the cooking, all of the seafood menu is incredibly easy to prepare.”

Just like usual, the restaurant was filled with customers screaming their orders here and there. 

“IT’S SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!”

“MMHM??! MHMHHMMM?!?!?!”

“The sea urchin is so delicious. Here, you should have a bite. It will blow your mind.”

“…. HA?! I… Whe-Where am I ? Ju-Just what happened?!”
