All the Heroines Who Showed Their Overwhelming Emotions on Me Have Mentally Broken Down and Gone Insane, so Now My Only Choice Is to Pamper Them Endlessly to Avoid Total Chaos — Sweets Work Best on Lovesick Heroines - Chapter 7: Sudden Visit
Chapter 7: Sudden Visit
The next day was Sunday. Mom was making a fuss from early in the morning.
“Today is the day we’re finally going on that date! Absolutely!”
Dad nodded wearily.
It was supposed to be a precious day off on Sunday, but he had apparently been roped into cheering Mom up. It seemed more grueling than working on a holiday.
“–Well then, Kaname, Kokoa. You two look after the house, okay?”
Mom waved cheerfully at me and Kokoa, who were lounging in the living room. Dad had been dragged out by the scruff of his neck by Mom.
After our parents left by car, Kokoa and I dove into anime-watching time in the living room. We streamed a top-ranked video while sprawling on the sofa.
Kokoa stuck right up against me. Her bare feet, extending from her short pants, touched my legs.
“This character is cute, right?”
“Well, she’s apparently pretty popular.”
“Which is cuter, me or her?”
“Don’t compete with a 2D girl.”
There’s no contest, anyway. Kokoa wins hands down.
By the time the anime’s ending played, my consciousness had drifted far away. I had lost to Kokoa’s body heat and the sofa’s comfort.
–Ding-dong.
The intercom woke me up. I must have dozed off just like that. Kokoa was breathing softly in sleep on my lap.
Ding-dong. Ding-dong.
It kept ringing insistently. The clock pointed to 12:30.
Ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong-ding-dong.
“Shut up already…”
Who the hell is it, this early on a Sunday afternoon?
I gently laid Kokoa from my lap onto the sofa and headed to the entrance.
When I opened the door, Yami Ayakura stood outside.
“Good day, Aotori. The weather is splendid today as well.”
She wore a dress with a cardigan draped over it, the epitome of refined lady-like attire.
But… why was this person standing in front of my house?
“Is something wrong? You’re making a face like a pigeon that ate vomit.”
“Why do you know where I live?”
“On the contrary, why did you assume I wouldn’t know where Aotori lives?”
“Because I never told you.”
“I don’t think not telling someone is a reason for not knowing, though.”
This person is hopeless. Logic doesn’t get through to her.
She must have heard it from Tendo. But I couldn’t imagine that girl telling the senior.
“Big brother?”
Kokoa had apparently woken up. She rubbed her eyes and peeked at us from around the wall. Maybe she was in a bad mood from waking up, as she glared sharply at Yami Ayakura.
“Who’s that woman?”
Her voice had barbs in it. Hostility leaked out plainly.
“A senior from school.”
“A senior?”
Kokoa furrowed her brows.
“A female senior?”
“As you can see.”
“Why’s she come to the house?”
That’s what I wanted to know too.
“I’ll overlook the fact that you’ve pinpointed my family home for now, but what’s your business on a day off?”
“Well, I happened to hear that you two crossed the line between man and woman. I can’t just sit idly by myself.”
Huh?
What was this person even saying?
“What does that mean, big brother?”
Kokoa scurried right up beside me.
“Crossed the line between man and woman. With someone?”
Her eyes were fixed. Dead serious.
As I pondered how to explain, Yami Ayakura spoke up.
“Tendo boasted about it to me so happily. That Aotori came over to her house and was so very kind to her.”
That girl…
Not just with Iori, but she’d phrased it in a way that misled even the senior…
“Well, it’s Tendo, after all. Nine times out of ten, it’s probably nonsense, but since going to her house seems true enough, it’s not surprising if you mated.”
“You…!”
How could she say that in front of Kokoa!
“My apologies. That was rather premature wording. Aotori wouldn’t do such a thing without being able to take social responsibility. Let’s rephrase it as sexual intercourse.”
No difference either way!
“How can you say that in front of my sister! She’s still in middle school year three!”
“Don’t worry about it. Girls learn faster than boys, after all. Unlike barbaric boys, girls are intellectual.”
What an outrageous thing to say in this era of gender equality. She’s definitely a bad influence on my sister’s education.
“Big brother. Is it true?”
She grabbed the hem of my shirt from the side.
“What is?”
“Did you do that with that Tendo girl?”
“I didn’t.”
“Then what did you do?”
“I told you yesterday. It was just a visit.”
“Just the two of you?”
“Her mother was there too.”
It’s not a lie. She was there at the beginning and the end.
“…………”
Kokoa stared up at me intently. Eyes full of suspicion. As if her brother would do something like that.
Yami Ayakura ignored us and peered into the house from the entrance.
“Oh, are your parents out?”
“They went out.”
“That’s convenient. We can talk calmly now.”
“You’re not seriously coming in, are you?”
“Of course. I came all this way.”
Yami Ayakura took off her shoes.
“Hey. Don’t just–”
“Could I have some tea? I’m thirsty.”
She was already coming inside. Yami Ayakura headed straight to the living room.
“What the hell with that woman?”
Kokoa muttered in an irritated tone.
“So pushy.”
Exactly.
