After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 99- Family time
“You actually came.” Sitting inside the car, Suzu kept her eyes drawn toward the changing scenery while she spoke. Her tone and demeanour suggested indifference even though she was actually surprised.
“I am a busy man but not heartless. What do you expect me to do after hearing that my daughter is in danger because of me?” The man with black curly hair and thin-framed glasses resting on his nose asked his daughter.
The brain behind the weapon which became the cause of mass destruction. Someone who has been honoured with a Japan Defense Technology Foundation Award and a renowned scientist and researcher of the world—Katsuragi Ichiro.
“So to get your attention, I have to risk my life every time huh?” Suzu nonchalantly said without looking back to see her father’s reaction.
The man looked troubled and failed to utter anything instantly.
After his first wife’s death, he has been avoiding Suzu a little too much. She looked just like her. And being reminded of her makes Ichiro’s heart throb in pain.
However, if he remains stuck in his past, he might end up ruining his present and future.
From this incident, he got to know what he had been doing wrong. It was a wake-up call for him. And Ichiro was determined to change things between himself and his daughter.

The family gathered in the Shirogane mansion.
Hiroto and Miyuki were not present since Hiroto had to take a bath and Miyuki went to arrange some clothes for him.
While the four were sat in the reception area, Souma was the first to bring forth the matter of concern, “I think we should postpone the ceremony.”
Hearing his words, neither of the Takeda showed any reaction. Ryuuske was himself going to suggest postponing the ceremony given the massive incident that recently occurred.
“I was thinking the same. Then, should we contact our relatives?” Ryuuske asked, already prepared to send a collective message to the people he had invited.
However, before the conversation could have continued, someone interjected,
“Why postpone the event?”
The group of four turned to look at the duo who walked towards them, hand in hand.
Hiroto was wearing a pair of white jeans and a blue shirt which gave him an elegant touch. Miyuki was wrapped around his hand with a content smile adorning her lips.
The young couple looked closer and more intimate than the two married couples sitting in the reception.
Hiroto sat down across from his parents with his princess beside him before asking again, “Why postpone? Not like anything happened to me or Miyuki, so why not go with the original plan?”
His question didn’t hold optimism that could have signified that he was not discouraged by the incident that occurred today, rather he genuinely sounded baffled.
Ryuuske shared a glance with his wife before uttering in a hesitant voice, “But son…what happened today might have left some adverse effect on you both. We can take some time to first recover and then proceed with the engagement?”
Souma nodded in consent while Yuki remained silent—neither denied nor convinced.
Hiroto sighed before asking his father, “Dad you do know how much I and Miyuki were looking forward to this ceremony right? Can’t you fulfil our wishes and let it happen?”
Following the suit, Miyuki also looked at her father and urged, “Dad…Hiro-kun is really fine…but if you delay the ceremony then we will both be sad.”
Both Dads looked at each other with troubled looks before assuring their kids without a moment of delay,
“If you really want to, then that’s fine.”
“Yes, sweetie, we aren’t against letting it happen. We were just worried about your mental health but if you two really want then let’s just keep things as it is.”
Akiko smiled helplessly at how easy it was for them to convince the two Dads. Yuki smiled in delight since she was more edging towards letting the ceremony happen on its designated date.

[In Ikeda household]
“My pooooooor babiesssss!” The lady wailed aloud while holding Minami and Satomi in her arms.
The man of the house was also quite emotional to find his daughters back in the house, safe and uninjured.
They rushed to school, the moment they heard the news. Fortunately, no student was hurt and every terrorist was apprehended.
“That boy is really an angel for us.” Hearing his words, Minami’s ears perked as she looked at her father and asked, “Are you talking about Yuichi-kun?”
The husband shared a glance with his wife seeing the sudden vigour Minami adopted before he slowly nodded, “Yeah…are you familiar with him?”
A slight blush adorned her cheeks and Satomi rolled her eyes.
With her gaze falling to the ground, Minami finally found the best opportunity to tell her parents,
“Actually Yu-kun and I…”

“As I said Dad, I am fine now.” Kaori couldn’t help but chuckle at her father’s overacting behaviour. The moment she returned home, the family of four united and lots of tears rained down.
Kaori’s father doesn’t come home on weekdays before midnight since he is a doctor and always roams around the country. However, after he heard about the terrorist attack he returned home instantly and currently was assessing his daughter’s condition.
“It’s necessary, Kaori. Be patient.” Her usual nonchalant and sardonic elder sister was showing her rare serious side as she warned Kaori.
Once the man was done assessing his daughter, he said, “There is no internal irregularity nor any visible injury but just for the assurance we will get her a thorough examination at the hospital tomorrow.”
The other two ladies agreed while Kaori grumbled. She didn’t like the smell of the hospital.
Suddenly her mother embraced her from behind and spoke in a sobbing tone, “I am glad that you are okay, love. I was scared to death when I saw the news this morning.”
Kaori’s eyes moistened upon seeing her family caring for her so much. It shows how much importance she held for them.
Holding her mother’s hand, she closed her eyes and assured her, “Don’t worry, I won’t scare you anymore.”

While everyone was reuniting with their families and sharing their trauma and getting consoled, there was a person who sat on the couch all alone and watched a comedy show with a solemn look.
Instead of his parents asking about his condition and how he was doing, he was surrounded by emptiness.
For Yuichi, this was nothing new. Returning home and no one was there to greet him or cook food for him.
However, he has long stopped feeling sad about this.
He just popped a soda and stuffed his mouth with chips while enjoying his own company.
Life is good.
