After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 96- He is the only one
When Hiroto became Yuichi, the first thing he did was to contact Hanabi and get her in position across the school. He told her that when he would give her the signal, take care of the terrorists around the school and also the boss who was positioned inside the staff room.
There was a building just parallel to the school so it was a clear shot.
Once the terrorist shot the bullets in his classroom, he knew the ones who were stationed outside would walk in, and that’s where her role became prominent. And also in saving Suzu as well.
Until now, Hiroto has only done missions where he had to kill people, one or many without taking the help of another person or having to worry about someone’s safety. He was trained to eliminate, not save. That’s why when he calculated the risks and possibilities, he decided to ask for her help.
“Now that I think about it, I should start building my organization or something…” Hanabi was a one-time thing and only when Hiroto was imitating Yuichi. In the future, especially during a specific arc, he might need help from some people.
‘Well, let’s think about it later…’ Discerning that the outside must have already been calmed down, Hiroto slowly walked out of the bathroom stall.
“Kid? Why are you here?”
“Ah!” Hiroto leaped back with his face pale like a sheet.
Just outside he found a police officer who was searching the bathroom stalls to see if there were any remaining assailants left. Now, he had to show that he was quite frightened or the police might suspect.
“I-I had an upset stomach…s-so when…I-I heard…” He moved his hands fanatically while sweating profusely.
The policeman advanced toward him and patted his shoulders, “Everything is fine now, child. A brave boy from your school has resolved the incident and now you all are safe.”
He said with a proud smile on his face. Hiroto didn’t react nor bothered to ask who it was.
He was laid by the officer to the medical team which was stationed on the campus.
Numerous parents were gathered around the school but they were only getting to meet their wards once the medical team ensured that there was nothing major to worry about.
“Hiroto-kun….” Just outside the school building, the group of three—Minami, Satomi, and Kaori were getting assessed by medics when Satomi noticed a familiar boy walking slowly towards them.
She leaped towards him and embraced him before he could have said anything.
“Thank God you are fine! I was so worried to not see you around…” Her eyes moistened and her hands trembled in anxiety.
In his ‘shaken up’ state, Hiroto couldn’t have pushed her away so he dazedly said, “I am fine…thanks for worrying.”
Once Satomi calmed down a little she let him go with her cheeks slightly red and tears staining her cheeks. There was a smile of relief on her face that showed how worried she was.
Hiroto didn’t remain by her side as he was urged by the medic to sit down so he could examine him.
Hiroto turned toward Kaori and asked, “Where is Yu?”
Kaori seemed much more calmer than any other student currently around. She simply gestured toward one of the resting benches where he sat silently and all alone. He had a solemn face and seemed like he was lost in his thoughts.
“He was examined and there wasn’t any major injury. He just asked to be left alone for a moment.” Kaori added the last part with a tinge of sadness in her voice.
At times like these, she wanted to be with her lover but Yuichi seemed distraught about something and couldn’t talk to anyone at the moment so he asked to be left alone for the time being.
Hiroto frowned. This…was not what he expected. He thought Yuichi would be spending time with his girlfriends since they were quite worried and anxious. And especially Suzu.
Hiroto ran his eyes around and found the redhead being consoled by the Principal and there was a woman who seemed to be her mother(?).
Hiroto didn’t focus on her any longer since sooner or later she would be in the care of the Protagonist. But for that, he needs to check on the Protagonist first.
“You seem fine but don’t move around much and take these medicines for a week.” The medic handed him a receipt before walking away.
Hiroto removed the towel which was draped over him and advanced toward Yuichi.
“Wai-” Minami was about to stop him, but Kaori held her and shook her head.
With her eyes never leaving Yuichi the green-haired said, “Don’t stop him….only Hiroto can calm him down.”
Minami didn’t say anything.
Just as he took a few steps, his phone rang.
He took it out and found a heart in place of the caller’s name. Without thinking twice he picked up,
“Hey.”
[…are you okay?]
Hiroto touched his torso which was stinging a little before he said, “Just a little pain. But don’t be concer-”
[Come to me as soon as you can.]
Miyuki knew that Hiroto’s parents must be worried that’s why she didn’t tell him to come to her immediately.
Hiroto smiled like a fool as he said, “Heard you, my lady.”
The call was disconnected and without him asking he knew that she was mad. Adorably mad.
‘Can’t wait…ugh.’ Seeing her grumpy side was a treat to his eyes. Naturally, he wouldn’t tell her that.
Sliding the phone back in his pocket, he walked toward his friend and sat down beside him silently.
Without looking at him Hiroto asked, “Why the long face? Shouldn’t you be celebrating right now? After all, you are a national hero.”
There was no doubt that Yuichi would get a lot of fame and might get honoured by the President or something.
Hiroto thought that Yuichi might be a little overwhelmed to get so many memories installed in his head all of a sudden. Hiroto hadn’t tested the artifact before but considering who gave it to him, Hiroto knew Yuichi wouldn’t get traumatized or something.
However, Hiroto could have never expected his following words,
“Hiro…it wasn’t me who saved everyone.”

A/N:- Twist? To be honest, I never realized when I reached 90+ chapters. There are so many things to come…ah, I hope I don’t end up shortening the story.
