- Chapter 95- Clearing the final base
Kaori’s eyes didn’t contain any emotions. Everything she held within her heart seemed to have seeped through her tears and now she aimlessly looked at nothing particular.
Yuichi was taken. There was nothing about him that the invader told her. They all were bound up for unknown reasons. The calls from the police were not answered. Nothing gave her the hope that they would be able to survive through this.
And for her to meet Yuichi again.
‘Why…this life has to be so difficult….’ They had already crossed so many obstacles and now all Kaori desired was a peaceful life with her lover. She couldn’t handle any more incidents. But, it wasn’t like the crisis would arrive based on one’s wish.
“Kaori…get it together. We will save Yuichi, don’t worry!” Her teacher, who was just across Kaori, told her in a stern tone but the tears with which her eyes were clouded, didn’t give much confidence to the seventeen-years old.
“Woman, what did I tell you?!*slap*”
Many gasped and Kaori’s eyes widened when suddenly the assailant slapped her homeroom teacher.
“You bastard! Just release me once and I will-” The boy who threatened the assailant got his head pointed against the barrel of the gun—making him shut up in an instant.
“What will you do, huh? Wanna go?” The terrorist threatened as he pushed the gun against the teenager’s head.
“Please! Don’t do anything!” The teacher cried; tears now overflowing down her eyes.
Everything was a mess.
At the time when everyone including Kaori began to lose hope, her eyes caught a figure outside the classroom.
“Yu-kun….” She might be hallucinating due to her desperation to see Yuichi but this was a little too real to be called her delusion.
He was currently looking at her through the window. His eyes trained on her and he seemed to be saying something.
Kaori didn’t shout his name, knowing full well how utter foolishness it would be, rather, she focused on his lips.
‘When…I…signal…’ He was repeating his words, that’s why it became clear to her. And when he uttered the last word, she understood his motive,
‘…shout!’
“Aaaaaaaahhhhhh!!” The sudden yell from Kaori startled everyone including the assailant as he moved his gun towards the group in a rush and with eyes widened.
Due to his panic, he completely overlooked the fact that someone had entered through the window and was advancing toward him.
“Yuichi?!” However, much to Yuichi’s annoyance someone called out to him before he could reach his target and as a result,
*Brrrrttttt*
The machine gun was fired freely in his direction and Yuichi narrowly dodged it by pressing his hand on the rifle and directing it away from him. The other party was strong that’s why Yuichi didn’t think twice before striking his throat with his claw and making the assailant choke violently.
Once he stopped firing, the first thing Yuichi did was to light up a flare and throw it out of the window.
The sound of the gun must have reached all across the school and now things might get awry if he doesn’t act fast.
Taking out his knife, Yuichi stabbed the man in the chest, neck and head to satiate his anger before leaving the corpse behind.
Kaori somehow got off her restraint and ran to Yuichi before throwing herself in his arms.
“Yu-kun!” Her body seems to be shaking because of the shock and trauma she must have gone through. In this single day, she has seen him nearly dying twice.
This was enough to scare her to death.
Yuichi seemed slightly out of place, not knowing how to handle this. Soon everyone started to get out of their restraints and the students helped the teacher as well.
*Ting*
Suddenly Yuichi heard an alarm, which signified that someone had descended the floors. He had put a sensory alarm there earlier when he was moving to the base floor.
“Wait here,” Yuichi called out before, without warning anyone, he walked towards the entrance of the classroom and pressed himself against the wall just beside it.
*Slide*
Just in the next moment, everyone froze up upon seeing two more assailants walking in with their guns raised—only for one to fall instantly to the ground after having a bullet penetrated his skull
The other one widened his eyes and just as he moved his gun to aim at Yuichi, he found something flying in his direction.
*BAM*
The pistol which was now empty was thrown at the assailant’s face and in a panic while falling to his butt, he shot bullets in an arc—making holes in the floor, and walls and ending up on the ceiling.
This much time was enough for Yuichi to take out another pistol and shoot down the last one in the head.
The chaos halted. Everyone remained frozen at their spot. They were once again brought inches close to their death only to get saved by Yuichi.
“Yu-kun…oh god you are safe!” She clung to him once again—much to his discomfort. ‘She’ won’t be happy to hear about this.
“Yes, I am…but I have to finish this. Suzu is still under their possession.”
Hearing his words, although she expected it, her heart became heavy and for a moment she wanted to say ‘Don’t go’. All she wanted was his safety and she selfishly admitted it in her heart as well.
However, knowing him for two and a half years now, there was no point asking him for something he couldn’t fulfil. As such, the only thing she could do in the situation was to cheer him up.
“Do your best….and return to me safely.” With a blush, she closed her eyes and went on her toes to kiss him—only to find her lips interacting with nothing.
Opening her eyes she found Yuichi had disappeared already.
‘Seriously…how can you be shy at a time like this?!’ Covering her face, Kaori shook her head in defeat.

There was only one person left in this building to deal with. This small group’s boss.
Yuichi didn’t think twice before entering the staff room where the masked boss stood while pressing a knife against Suzu’s neck.
“Don’t think you have won. This girl and this whole school would go down with me.” The assailant has long discerned that his men are done for. And as such, the original objective cannot be fulfilled. However, killing the daughter of that man would allow the boss to feel that he has taken his revenge. And the bombs he has spread across the building would be detonated once the boss dies as well.
So in his eyes, everyone was going to hell now that things have come to this.
*Tak* *Tak*
Seeing Yuichi approaching him, the assailant widened his eyes and backed off toward the window a little before shouting, “I said remain standing there!” He pressed the blade a little deeper—drawing some droplets of blood.
In pain, she winced and closed her eyes, and when she did, the pressure from her neck disappeared.
“Huh?” Suzu opened her eyes and found that the invader who was holding her was slowly dropping to the ground with vitality disappearing from his eyes.
She instantly turned towards Yuichi and found him standing as he was.
What she missed noticing was the small hole made in the window glass behind her.
Yuichi felt his phone buzzing before he took it out and found a simple message,
Hanabi: [Job done.]
