After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 69- Cousin?
Kaori was beyond broken when Yuichi and Hiroto reached the station.
She was standing listlessly near the same spot where she remains every day. However, unlike usual, she wasn’t waving at them nor had a refreshing smile on her face.
Although she was smiling, one could easily tell that her focus was currently on another dimension. She was there, but not. Her face was still a bit red and her phone remained connected to her ear.
“….this is so gonna be awkward,” Yuichi muttered under his breath as they neared Kaori.
Hiroto helped his friend and shook Kaori by her shoulder.
“Oi…Kaori. Back to earth.”
“Ah!”
She exclaimed and turned her focus toward the two who stood just a few meters away from her.
Kaori’s eyes widened a little as she saw Yuichi.
The confession was way too sudden! She was a breath away from a heart attack there! How can he be so cruel to say so many words that pierced right through her heart?
“Awawawa…” Steams began to appear above her head as Kaori remembered what she heard on the phone.
Witnessing the fidgeting Kaori, Yuichi stomped on Hiroto’s foot—only to miss the target by a bare margin.
Taking a deep breath, Yuichi decided to man up.
“Ah!” Kaori exclaimed as suddenly her shoulders were held by Yuichi.
His eyes were filled with determination as Yuichi said, “Although it wasn’t the best way to hear my thoughts, I am happy that I was able to convey everything honestly.”
Kaori gulped and forced herself to calm down before asking, ” T-then…a-are we now….”
“Yes, Kaori. I like you as well, and if you are okay with me, then I would like to go out with you. ” This was the first time Yuichi proposed to someone and unlike what he thought this was way too troubling for his heart.
Although he knew that Kaori also liked him, just for a faint possibility he felt that what if, she rejected him, just like he did in the past? The anxiety kept him on the edge until Kaori parted her lips and with a smile, responded.
“Yes….yes, I will go out with you! Please take care of me, Yu-kun!”
Hiroto instantly looked away from the duo—pretending to not know the two weirdos who were hugging each other so openly, early in the morning.
Yuichi felt that gap in his heart slowly filling up as he held his girlfriend in his arms.
After a lot of obstacles, these two were finally together.

“Tell me one good reason, why I am walking between you two?” Hiroto couldn’t help asking the two as they slowly walked toward the school.
Yuichi and Kaori were extremely embarrassed after publicly displaying their affection—which resulted in Hiroto playing the role of a curtain to help the other two calm down.
“I will treat you to a bun, so please keep walking.” Yuichi requested; uncharacteristically.
“No thanks. Miyuki’s lunch is everything I can allow myself to eat in school.” Hearing his statement Kaori’s ears perked up as she asked,
“Her parents came to meet your parents yesterday, right? What happened to that?”
Hiroto casually answered, “We got engaged yesterday.”
“Heeh?! Really? This is all too sudden but…congrats to you two. I am really happy that everything went well.” Kaori, with a bright smile, congratulated Hiroto.
Hiroto turned to look at Yuichi with an expression that said, ‘See that? That’s how you should react.’
Hiroto thanked Kaori for her proper reaction as they finally reached the point where Satomi handed Yuichi the letter some days ago.
However, unlike that day, there was more than one girl standing and none of the two were Satomi.
“Why is she here….” Kaori frowned as she held his sleeve in slight anxiety
“Oi…I ain’t your guy.” Hiroto pulled Yuichi near her after freeing his sleeve from Kaori.
Nonchalantly, like it wasn’t a concern that concerned Hiroto, he headed toward his Hime who was waiting for him.
The way her frown shifted to a bright smile made Hiroto chuckle inwardly. Miyuki cannot hide her feelings at all~ Well, neither can he.
“Did you wait for long?”Hiroto asked as he halted near her and took her bag.
“Good morning, Hiro-kun and no, I just got here.” Miyuki didn’t resist and gave him her bag which Hiroto flung over his shoulder.
“Let’s go.”
Miyuki nodded before the two departed for the school with their hands connecting like it was all too natural.
******
Hiroto glanced over his shoulder and found the group of three were not so behind them.
Yuichi was walking in the middle with Minami and Kaori holding his either hand—or to say, just his sleeve.
Heaving a sigh, he was about to ask Miyuki about her plans after school, when he suddenly noticed something that Miyuki had been able to hide until now
She was….nervous.
“Hey…” Hiroto rubbed his thumb around the back of her interconnected hand—waking her from the stupor.
“Ah! I-it’s nothing….” Miyuki shook her head and looked to the other side—praying that Hiroto wouldn’t ask about it any further.
However, more than anyone, she knows that whatever the concern, Hiroto wouldn’t let go until he doesn’t hear about it.
Yielding in merely a few seconds she heaved a sigh, turned to face forward, and informed him, “After hearing about my engagement someone from my family is coming to meet you.”
Hiroto raised his brows before asking, “Is it that uncle about whom you told me?”
Miyuki shook her head and with her hold on his hand turning a little stiff, she replied, “She…is my cousin.”
Hiroto was still confused, “Okay, so what? Why are you so nervous about letting me and your cousin meet?”
Hiroto couldn’t remember if there was any cousin mentioned in the game. Then again, Miyuki was so occupied with the thought of gaining Yuichi at whatever cost, that her background didn’t matter much.
That’s why the existence of that prick Ryuuske came as a surprise to Hiroto.
Miyuki gulped in apprehension, before she said, “Actually…she is very fond of me, and there is a chance she is coming here with the motive of breaking our engagement.”
Hiroto frowned as the hold on her hand grew firmer, “You know that’s not gonna happen, whoever is against it right?”
“I know….but still I don’t want Nene-chan to do something to insult Hiro-kun…” With her tone dimming a little Miyuki added, “…although it would be a little sad, if she really tried breaking us off…..then I might as well….”
Looking at those cold eyes and the murderous aura suddenly surrounding her, Hiroto chuckled.
This girl…why is she so adorable?
Hiroto nudged Miyuki softly with his shoulder to break her daze before he informed her, “It seems your cousin is someone close to you.”
Although hesitant, Miyuki nodded. Nene is the only cousin who is extremely close to Miyuki despite the latter’s cold demeanor and unwelcoming attitude.
Hiroto gave her an assuring smile, and said, “Then it’s settled. If she is an important person to you, then I will do everything to make her like me. In that way, you won’t have to choose between us.”
Miyuki looked slightly guilty as she uttered, “….don’t push yourself too hard.”
