After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 67- Investigate
Hanabi on most days, remains at home and does whatever a student should do. Study and more study.
Her father runs an underground fighting club and has connections with many important figures in Japan. However, Hanabi doesn’t have an interest in guns and money. Rather she doesn’t like such a life where any other day they could meet their maker.
She has seen chaos and blood all her life but her father did his best to not make Hanabi get attached to it. She was told to spend her life in the most normal fashion possible.
And since Hanabi’s life goal was to become a software developer, she didn’t insist on getting much involved in the underworld either.
…until a certain young man arrived at their doorsteps.
Hanabi had a good relationship with Yuichi since the time he was brought here.
He was a lost kid, who never opened himself to anyone. If Hanabi had to describe Yuichi then she would utter only two words;
Hurt and helpless.
Yuichi was unaware of where his life was heading. He didn’t have any motivation to continue living in the first place—given he lost all those people whom he considered his own.
However, Hanabi’s father was well-set on forging Yuichi into one of his minions. The reason was unknown to Hanabi but given how carefully Yuichi was carved and molded into a veteran fighter under the direct guidance of her father, she knew Yuichi had gained a special interest of her father.
Slowly her interest in him began to grow as well. Initially, he usually remained silent and she was the only one who talked. Slowly, he began to respond to her questions with simple ‘Yes’ or ‘No’. It took some time but Hanabi was able to form such a connection with him.
Years went by, and Yuichi’s reputation grew in the underworld. His fighting skills and survival instincts in the arena made many people lose money, and turned many beggars, rich by a single fight.
Despite all that, Yuichi and Hanabi’s relationship remained the same. She was just like an Onee-san to him, who took care of Yuichi without him asking. And he was like a grumpy otouto, who usually acted like a tsundere.
Hanabi’s life was proceeding smoothly. Taking care of Yuichi like a family was a very engaging and entertaining job for her. Her education was moving on smoothly as well, and her father’s reach was widening as well—especially after Yuichi became his right-hand man.
However, one day, everything came crashing down when Yuichi walked up to her father and said,
“I want to leave this world. I want to restart my life as a normal high school student.”
Hanabi thought her father wouldn’t let him go, given how much time he had invested in Yuichi and what kind of important entity he had become. More than expectations, Hanabi hoped so.
However,
“You are free to leave, brat. But if by any chance you decide to return, your life won’t remain yours anymore.”
Hanabi’s heart sank as she saw Yuichi walk away with all his belongings in his hands. She felt the family was breaking apart at that moment, yet she couldn’t do anything about it. A piece of her heart was shattered when Yuichi left her.
After his departure she tried to return to her old life…. consoling her heart with the fact that she can talk to Yuichi anytime through call and meet him on weekends.
However, when she heard that Yuichi has made some friends and one of them has become quite close to him, Hanabi realized that she doesn’t see Yuichi just as a family member.
She likes him…romantically.
But it was too late. Yuichi already has someone he likes. And Hanabi wasn’t a home-wrecker to try and separate the two.
“Is everything alright, Ojou?” Hearing her driver’s call, Hanabi was brought out of her daze.
“Ah, yeah. Everything…is fine.” Hanabi had to be careful about her demeanor, or like just him, her father might also notice. And that wouldn’t be good. At all.
“Do you want me to investigate the robber further?” The driver was naturally a subordinate of her father—which explains his concern regarding the assailant who inflicted some superficial damage to Hanabi yesterday.
However, “No, that won’t be necessary. Rather… I want you to keep an eye on someone else.”
Hanabi hesitated for a moment, but remembering something from yesterday, she uttered the name, “Takeda Hiroto…can you investigate him a little? Just be careful since he is kinda too cautious.”
The old man asked, “I have heard of that name…should I mark him on the red list? ”
Hanabi panicked, “No! He is a friend. It’s just…his behavior doesn’t suit the background he comes from.”
Hanabi felt bad that she was digging for information about Yuichi’s friend, but yesterday, Hiroto’s behavior sparked suspicion in her mind. The way he closed in without disclosing his arrival and his knife skills surpassed basic self-defense training.
Although Hanabi wasn’t too integrated with the underworld, she still has the ability to verify a man who just flaunts a weapon and a person who actually has the guts to kill someone.
And Hiroto belonged to the latter group.
‘….I just hope Yuichi doesn’t find out….’

[Hiroto’s POV:]
I am feeling like the luckiest man alive.
The only motive I had to reincarnate in this world was to gain the love of the girl who was destined to fall into the darkness of the abyss.
I somehow changed the route and finally, Miyuki was mine. And I am hers.
Feels so peaceful that I feel like stopping just right here and enjoying my life with Miyuki. In this world, I need no one else than her.
….however, as much as I wanted to stop worrying about others, I couldn’t.
‘Tomorrow is the day…’ Tomorrow would be a major event involving Satomi and Minami.
The drama that started with a picture would either get sorted entirely or fall into ruins.
The picture was enough to corner Satomi, that she agreed to humiliate Yuichi—the next event is related to that.
‘Hmmm…quite a daring man….’ I stared at the man named Ikeda Hiroshi in the picture who was also the father of Satomi and Minami.
The picture was taken when Hiroshi was heading to a love hotel with a woman who is also the man’s workmate.
Clearly, anyone would think that Hiroshi is cheating on his wife and going to love the hotel with someone else….but it isn’t like that.
They indeed were in a relationship, but it was around when Minami’s father was single and now, that woman is threatening him in the name of a baby. And naturally, as a cliche drama episode, that baby doesn’t belong to Hiroshi.
Now, he has to regularly pay the woman to keep her silent.
Haah~how naive. Well, I can’t do anything about it.
The problem is, tomorrow Hiroshi will be meeting that woman again, and that’s when the drama begins.
Tomorrow, Satomi’s mother would catch him with the woman in some cafe, and naturally, she would get hurt and regret her decision to remarry.
Yuichi’s role in this was to reveal the reality by investigating the homewrecker. Some stealth work. Some fighting and done.
I just pray, that everything goes as it is supposed to. Although I would be there to administer the whole event, I don’t want to get involved in this more than necessary.
Well, I hope so….

A/N:- Hiroto is an expert in raising flags.
Hiroto should’ve just restarted. That way, he would’ve not shown up since he’d know that it was already taken care of, and could continue his date with Miyuki. Also, now Hanabi suspects Hiroto’s true nature and is investigating him. Hiroto should’ve been more cautious.
