After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 65- Barrier
Shirogane Miyuki had very little interaction with the Takeda family in the past. Every time the two families met for some celebration or to let Hiroto and Miyuki get to know each other better, Miyuki had a formal approach toward the two elders of the Takeda family.
She has never disrespected them, however, it wouldn’t be wrong to consider that Miyuki treated Hiroto’s parents just as she treats any other elder.
Never tried taking any initiative to begin a conversation, to the point where Hiroto’s mother once even said, ‘It seems Miyuki-san doesn’t like to meet people much.’ At that time Miyuki didn’t have any particular reaction toward such a comment…but looking back now, she regretted being so cold toward them.
“You are usually nervous today.” Sitting beside her, Yuki couldn’t help worrying about her daughter who was restlessly fidgeting at her seat.
Souma, who was seated across the duo also noticed the unusual vigor in her daughter’s behavior but he didn’t say anything about it, for fear of making her even more nervous.
Miyuki looked at her mother, and finally lost her cool, “I am extremely anxious, Mom! What if they don’t like me?”
It was uncommon for Miyuki to stress on a matter for this long—especially when Hiroto has assured her that nothing would go wrong today.
Yuki could understand her daughter’s feelings since she herself was in that position once.
“Look, Miyu. It is a fact that a mother-in-law, despite how sweet they seem, always inspects their to-be daughter-in-law closely. So I won’t tell you to just go with the flow. You need to be very mindful of your actions and words in front of them. ”
Miyuki gulped at that and her head moved up and down. Her maid and Hiroto have told her to relax and let things go with the flow. That’s why a suggestion from her mother, even though it made her even more apprehensive, was quite welcomed and seemed crucial.
Yuki turned her focus toward her husband before asking him sweetly, “Can you tell the driver to take a detour? We are early an hour and a half anyways.”
Souma raised his brows before he nodded without asking anything. He understood why his wife needed extra time.
Yuki refocused on her daughter and placed her hand on her shoulder,
“Now listen to me, dear. For starters, you have to… ”

In the living room of the Takeda house sat six people. Souma and Yuki were sitting on the couch while Akiko and Ryouske sat on the chair across from them.
On the left and right of the center table sat Miyuki and Hiroto while facing each other.
Initially, Ryouske seemed nervous but soon he was able to converse normally with Souma, given they both were business partners once. Yuki and Akiko also had similar interests in botany so it didn’t take them long to get along.
Hiroto was also involved in the conversation with the two groups since he knew about their interests.
The only person who was trying to involve herself in the conversation yet failing miserably was the silver-haired pitiful girl, named Miyuki.
“I used to plant them during the winters but it turned out that during winters they couldn’t bear fruits. ” (Akiko)
“Ah, yes…I-“(Miyuki)
“Ah! What a coincidence! I also tried planting them during winter, for three straight years. It was until I was told by my sister, that I realized my foolishness and realized the necessity of research.” (Yuki)
Turning her attention toward the other side,
“Yes, I have invested in JnF groups thrice before but not on anyone’s advice though.” (Hiroto)
“You also, even I-” (Miyuki)
“That’s brilliant, Hiroto-kun. I never thought without the help of a professional adviser you would be able to land such a huge success.”(Souma)
“Even I was surprised when I heard about it. I have never forced him to invest his time in the share market but looking at the golden choice, I might have to rely on my son. ” (Ryouske)
Another attempt and another failure. Not even Hiroto supported her or even noticed that she was trying to say something.
‘What is this…in this way, I won’t be able to leave a strong impression on them…’ Her shoulder slumped in depression. Although her mother gave many suggestions, none of them would work until she couldn’t even catch the attention of her in-laws.
Forget about attention, she was non-existent for them.
*Krik*
Suddenly everyone stopped talking as Miyuki got up on her feet, pushing the chair back slightly.
“Umm…can I use the washroom?” She asked Akiko, with a slight smile on her face.
Akiko was startled as she spoke in a rush, “Ah, yes. Let me show you-”
“No, it’s okay. I know where it is, so please you guys carry on.”
Miyuki gave a slight bow and walked with steady steps toward the hallway. She didn’t hear anyone following her, and everyone returned chatting as they were.
….it seems she wasn’t needed here.

Miyuki silently remained standing in the washroom for a minute before she decided to walk out.
Just as she opened the door, she nearly shrieked in surprise upon seeing someone standing there.
“You startled me,” Miyuki stated with her eyes slightly widened and her left hand placed over her heaving chest.
“Why did you come here? Weren’t you having your time with them?”
Miyuki said and didn’t hide how hurt she was as she began walking toward the living room—only for her steps to halt as she was suddenly pulled by her waist.
“Ah…” This time she yelped as she found her back pressed against the wall and Hiroto’s face inches away from hers.
She felt her face heating up, feeling his breath hitting her. She was unprepared for this sudden closeness however she somehow retained her scowl.
“What?”
“You look beautiful today.”
“….is this your way of consoling me? I tell you, it’s not working at all. ”
Hiroto tilted his head a little as he said, “Then why your face is turning red?”
Miyuki sometimes didn’t like how easy was it for him to make a mess out of her. And this definitely was one of those times.
She turned her head away from him, and pouted, “You were completely ignoring me until now…and suddenly flirting with me…”
She didn’t know what his reaction was but suddenly his hold around her waist became firmer and his face snuggled close in the crook of her neck.
“Ahh…” Miyuki closed her left eye and pressed her palms against the wall. Despite how annoyed she seemed, she, not even once, tried resisting him.
Hiroto embraced his lover to his heart’s content before relaying his thoughts, “I know it seemed like I was ignoring you, but truth be told I was kind of stuck. ”
Miyuki blinked in perplexity and urged him to explain.
Hiroto flashed a defeated smile, before confessing, “Actually Mom is also kinda nervous about how to approach you that’s why she seemed to have busied herself with Yuki-san.”
Miyuki raised her brows with her eyes a little widened, “Really?”
Hiroto nodded.
Miyuki was still not fully convinced that her to-be mother-in-law was nervous because of her. But Hiroto wouldn’t lie to her.
Turning her attention to him, she asked with a look of helplessness on her face, “Then…what should I do to remove this barrier between us?”
Hiroto grinned at that. It’s about time~

A/N:- Damn…it won’t be surprising for me to write my first story where the main couple get married before the last chapter.
