After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 63- Resolved
“How did you reach here?” As I apprehended and tied the robber in ropes, I asked Hanabi without looking at her.
From the confrontation, both parties have received damage. Although Hanabi is the daughter of a veteran fighter, in front of a burly man like this one, it is quite natural to get intimidated.
Thankfully, she didn’t receive any lifelong injury or scar—most probably. Just some cuts and bruises which Kaori was already aiding.
“I…have recently hacked into public surveillance for some ‘particular reasons’. Since I didn’t have anything to do I was just looking around the locality and found this man entering Yuichi-kun’s friend’s house. In a panic, I didn’t think of calling the police and barged here all by myself. ”
Those ‘particular reasons’ she mentioned were related to Ryuuske. Yuichi told her to keep an eye on me and Ryuuske and keep Yuichi updated so in case I got attacked, Yuichi would have arrived at my rescue.
However, now that the requirement of surveillance was no longer necessary—considering Ryuuske was dead—which means Hanabi was using those cameras to stalk Yuichi and somehow stumbled upon the burglary.
Once I was done tying the robber entirely, I got up only to hear Hanabi asking, “How did you know that she would get attacked tonight?”
There wasn’t suspicion but curiosity in her voice. Maybe she sees me in a good light because I am Yuichi’s best friend.
“I heard from her sister that Kaori has locked herself up in her room…and I remembered Kaori is scared of thunder-”
*Rumble*
“-that’s why I came rushing here.” In support of my statement, clouds rumbled.
I have already prepared a perfect lie regarding the matter if asked.
“Hiroto-kun….thank you for coming here…” There were tears in her eyes as Kaori muttered under her breath.
I shook my head to tell her that it was not something to thank me about when suddenly someone barged inside the house,
“Kaori!!”
The young man looked fanatically around the room and widened his eyes upon seeing the huge man tied up in the middle of the living room.
His eyes then turned toward Hanabi and Kaori before it seemed he somehow discerned everything.
“Y-Yu-kun…”
“Kaori…” With her shaking legs Kaori approached Yuichi but stumbled—only for Yuichi to dash in her direction and hold her by her waist.
Oh~How….cringe.
Both of them looked into each other’s eyes for a moment before Kaori dipped her head in his chest and began sobbing like all this time she had been hiding her fear behind a facade.
Her loud wails resonated across the house as Yuichi held her tight in his arms and rubbed her back to assure her of his presence.
His eyes then drifted towards Hanabi—who was looking at the duo with a warm look.
“—!!” Hanabi’s eyes widened when Yuichi invited her to join them.
However, soon she also got up on her feet and slowly made her way toward the duo.
Yuichi opened his arms and embraced Hanabi and Kaori and helped the two girls to calm down.
He then turned his eyes toward me and instantly I crossed my arms on my chest.
I wasn’t going to be a part of that union, you asshole.
In response, Yuichi rolled his eyes but didn’t say anything.
Seriously, what does he consider me? His heroine?
Regardless, Kaori’s family also walked inside the house and the police were soon called as well
I left a message for Yuichi before making my way out of the house.
The clouds have already begun to let some drizzle pour down the sky.
I remained standing near the entrance, thinking if I could get an umbrella…but in the end, I decided to just run back to my house at full speed.
Covering my head with my hand, I paced out of the house and turned toward my left—only to freeze immediately
“Miyuki?” There stood my lover currently holding an umbrella under the rain without any particular emotion on her face.
However, the moment she heard my voice, a very charming smile that just struck me in the heart, extended her lips as she approached me with hurried strides.
“I was waiting for you. Come on, we have a date to finish.”
She tilted the umbrella a little and inched closer to me before hooking her arm in mine.
“…but the festival must have already been over?”
When I arrived at Kaori’s place I heard the sound of skyshots which concluded the festival and everyone must have already returned home.
“Don’t worry about that, Hiro-kun. We both were looking forward to this date so much…and I won’t let it be ruined because of your obligations. ”
I felt guilty about the fact that once again, because of my duty to protect Yuichi and his harem, I had to abandon Miyuki.
I have hurt Miyuki again…
****
It didn’t take long before I and Miyuki were standing in the vast green field which was now empty because all the festival stalls had been taken away already.
The rain has become fiercer but it didn’t bother me.
I held the umbrella on top of us and kept my arm around her waist.
We stood in silence for a minute, before I finally decided to apologize to her—even though I knew I would do something like this in the future as well.
“Mi-”
“Shh…it’s starting.” However, before I could have said anything, Miyuki held my arm and silenced me.
I blinked in confusion before following her line of sight—which was directed toward the sky.
*Shiiiii*
*BOOOOM*
My eyes reflected the colorful sparkles illuminating the dark and hazy sky with its wonderful shades.
The skyshots continued to burst and scatter before disappearing in the sky—keeping my attention converged on them.
Although I have seen sky shots in my previous life and with many different people beside me… but, with the person I truly care for, standing beside me, holding my hand and sharing the same emotion as me…indeed, I couldn’t compare this moment to any of those experiences.
I glanced at Miyuki with a soft smile lifting my lips, and whispered, “Thanks for showing me something so beautiful.”
“I knew you would like it.”
Seeing Miyuki’s smiling face I felt the same relief and elation I always feel. However, at the moment, my love for her seemed to be overflowing. I wanted to let her know how much I love her. That, how much she mattered to me.
However, rather than words I chose to show my love through my actions. Cupping her cheek and receiving a surprised reaction from her, I pressed my lips against her.
….ah, I can’t live without this girl.

A/N:- End of Vol 1, ig?
I’m glad Kaori’s alright and that Hiroto wasn’t really needed in this situation, for once. Though it would’ve been nice if he didn’t have to go.
How precious! Though I’d like to know how fireworks are going off in the pouring rain?? 🤔
