After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine

[Hiroto’s POV:]

For fuck’s sake, can’t any of these damn arcs go in the way I want them to?

I had planned everything and did everything necessary for the plot to flow in the manner that was the most appropriate. I wanted all the events to follow canon so I could retain my advantage.

But, alas.

After I received the call from Yuichi I tried dialing Kaori’s number but to no avail. If I am not wrong then the burglar must have invaded the house by now—and given Kaori is still in the house, she must have gotten captured.

“But Hiro-kun-”

“Sorry, Miyuki, but I have to go. Just go home for now. I will call you.” I bid farewell to Miyuki before closing the car door and walking away.

I would have driven the car myself to reach Kaori’s house faster, but I know a shortcut route that would lead me there; faster than any transportation.

I lifted my yukata and tied it around my waist which now looked more like a happi before dashing toward my destination. I texted Yuichi to reach Kaori’s home as fast as he could while I myself sped up.

[Yuichi’s POV:]

There is definitely something wrong with this whole situation.

The moment Hiroto got to know that Kaori was still back in her house, his voice suddenly turned extremely severe and he immediately cut the call.

Soon after, I received a message from him stating to reach Kaori’s place instantly.

I didn’t think twice before running towards the exit. Hiroto isn’t the type of person to joke about things like these. Surely, he can be sarcastic at times, but this…I had a bad feeling about this.

“Yuichi-kun?! What happened? Why are you looking so-”

“I am sorry, Hiyori-san, but it seems something has happened to Kaori. I am going there, so later.” I was suddenly grabbed by Kaori’s older sister since she must have realized that there was something wrong. However, I didn’t have the time to explain everything so I pulled myself away and escaped.

‘In the first place…do I know what in the world is actually going on?’

[Hiyori’s POV:]

Watching my sister’s crush dashing away after he said those excessively concerning words, I was rendered blank for several moments.

Subconsciously, I took my phone out and went to the surveillance app which let me see the footage of my home.

….however, upon seeing the blank screen—indicating that every CCTV has been bugged—I felt a chill creeping down my spine.

“Hiyori?” I was shaken out of my daze as my mother shook me from the side.

My face must have looked horrifyingly pale as Mom was startled.

I held her arms and in a shaky voice, I uttered,

“M-Mom…K-K-Kaori might be in danger…”

[Miyuki’s POV:]

I hate Yuichi-kun.

I was having the best day of my life with my lover by my side. We were roaming around without a concern in the world. Being close to Hiro-kun, to be able to touch him, to hear his sweet words, and be in the middle of his attention—the best feeling.

However, in a corner of my mind, I feared. If not for any emergency back at home, then there was only a single person who could disturb us.

Yuichi-kun.

The moment I saw his name flashing on Hiro-kun’s phone, I was extremely tempted to take the phone and throw it as far as I could. I just…hate that guy!

‘…why Hiro-kun…why can’t you let me harm Yuichi-kun…can’t I just kill him already?’ Looking at my reflection in the glass, I couldn’t help muttering to myself.

Supposedly, if I just make Yuichi-kun disappear….will Hiro-kun get too mad….?

*Sigh*

‘Let’s see where Hiro-kun is going…’ With someone’s help, I now can track Hiro-kun’s live GPS location. Although it stops working from time to time, it still is quite useful.

“Hmm?!”

Hiro-kun looked a little nervous when he left my side. And his current location was making me nervous.

I instantly called out to the driver in a hurried tone

“Hikari-san, please head here! ” I handed him my phone and as sharp as ever, Hikari-san didn’t ask me anything and turned the car in the direction where the map was showing.

I sat back on the seat with my heart pounding rapidly

Why…Hiro-kun would go to her house all of a sudden?

Unlike usual, I was not feeling suspicious or jealous…I was anxious.

[Hiroto’s POV:]

It took me six minutes and I was in front of Kaori’s home.

I have a small knife in my possession and for a robber, this must be enough.

I didn’t go inside through the front door, naturally, rather walked toward the left side of the house and crouched down to not get my shadow shown on the windows.

Reaching the window of the kitchen, I peeked inside. There was no sound coming from inside and Kaori’s room light was on. The ground floor was enshrouded in darkness apart from the living room.

For a robber to keep the lights on…kind of strange.

Regardless, I inserted my knife in between the window frame and slowly lifted the lock.

Once unlocked, I soundlessly parted the window and held my knife between my lips.

Pressing my hands against the windowsill I jumped inside and instantly crouched down to keep myself hidden behind the kitchen platform.

I don’t want my rash actions to cost Kaori her life…if possible.

Once I reached the end of my cover, I peeked sneakily at the living room and found someone standing a little far, with their back facing me.

However, without any doubt, such a frail and thin back could never belong to a man, especially those long hair.

I frowned—this is unexpected.

I removed my wooden sandals, and while crouching, approached the woman with my right hand holding the knife.

The woman didn’t notice until I reached behind her and pressed the blade against her neck. My other hand crept around her waist—locking her arms.

“You move, you die….” My voice trailed off near the end, as I witnessed the scene awaiting me.

The robber, whom I was supposed to apprehend was lying on the ground.
