After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 59- Concerned

[Kaori’s POV:]

Was Yuichi always like this?

I couldn’t help asking myself.

Two days ago, when I called him Yuichi was with a woman, who clearly wasn’t Minami—signifying that he is now with not only Minami but someone else as well.

From the beginning, Yuichi seemed like someone with a great personality and a person with dignity. Despite having so many confessions flowing in his direction he didn’t give in—which was unnatural for a boy of his age. However, Yuichi’s stance has always been clear on the matter; he can only date someone with whom he is well familiar.

I admired his traits for maintaining that thought process and not letting his principles ever waver.

However, recently, the image of Yuichi which I have built seems to be crumbling. Not only did he sleep with Minami because of some uncertain reasons, but he also was with an older woman two nights ago.

Truly despicable.

I have received calls and texts from him but I didn’t have any intention to reply. I just….don’t know what I might end up saying.

Many people have more than one lover and even spouse and given Yuichi’s qualities it wouldn’t have been surprising for him to have more than one relationship. However, to think he would, out of nowhere, begin pulling girls and women toward him without any prior familiarity with them?

‘At this point…I wonder if I truly knew you….’

Curling up on the bed, I closed my eyes; not prepared to face him any time soon.

Thankfully today was a holiday so I would get enough time to collect my thoughts.

*Knock*

*Click*

Suddenly I heard a knock and soon after the person opened the door and walked in.

Even without lifting my eyes, I could tell it was my sister.

“Still moping? You haven’t talked to him yet?”

Hearing her words, I wanted to grumble. I feel a teensy bit resentful toward Nee-san for making me call him that night and having me hear that woman’s voice.

But I know, there was nothing wrong with her suggestion so I didn’t have the right to show any displeasure.

“Just need today to sort myself out. You needed something from me?” I asked, after lifting my face from the pillow.

“I wanted to invite you to the summer festival. Everyone is going…wanna join?”

Under normal circumstances, I would have agreed to freshen up my mood and enjoy the sweets of the festivals. Heck, I would have invited Yuichi as well.

….however, after what happened two days ago I just couldn’t bring myself to leave my bed for the time being.

“Bring something from the festival for me, Nee-san…I won’t be going.”

[Hiroto’s POV:]

[…are you sure she will come there? She hasn’t picked up any of my calls you know…]

Hearing Yuichi’s argument made me sigh. I mean, what does he expect from Kaori when he has recently confessed about his little sleepover at Minami’s place?

However, according to the plot, Kaori would be urged by her sister tonight to come with her to the festival. And Kaori would accept the invitation.

Canonically, Yuichi also goes there because of Hiroto’s request to join him. There he meets Kaori and they get into some verbal dispute….well, mostly Kaori speaks and Yuichi listens.

In the end, feeling disheartened and heartbroken by Yuichi’s lack of response, she walks away from the festival. Naturally, Yuichi follows her after Hiroto suggests him to.

However, what neither Yuichi nor Kaori expected was the thief in her house. Since Kaori arrives early and gets incapacitated by the robber until Yuichi arrives at her place and rescues her in the old style.

A blood scene where Yuichi gets hurt with a knife but in the end, naturally, Yuichi subdues the assailant and calls the cops.

After that, Kaori realizes how much he cares about her and that he didn’t even think twice about putting his life in danger. Some blah-blah here and there before she finally declares her feelings and demands him to not ever leave her.

Happy ending.

Now, that was canon and now this is reality. Playing the part of the side character I urged him to follow me to the festival so he could meet his heroine there.

“I talked to her sister earlier.” I lied; not something that would matter.

[Wait! Do you have her number?]

“That isn’t the point of concern here. Just get ready and be near the station around six, okay?”

There was a brief pause before he asked,

[Do I have to wear a yukata?]

“…just be there.” I disconnected the call and finished the homework at the same time.

The high school level of studies was not something I needed to burden myself with. However, I couldn’t ignore it either.

I was about to call Miyuki and ask her about what she would be wearing today when an unexpected person’s name flashed on the mobile screen.

I grumbled—it was Satomi.

Picking up the call, she didn’t give me time to even say ‘hello’ before she asked,

[Can you meet me today? There is something I want to tell you.]

“…you know I am already in a relationship right?”

[I know! It’s not about that! I just…wanted to tell you something related to Minami.]

I paused, thought, and responded,

“I can make some time tomorrow after school but there will be someone with me.”

[…Shirogane-san?]

“Correct. Can’t make her upset you see.” Or you might just disappear from the planet.

I held speaking the last part. My Hime has many sides and the hottest one is her possessive self who can burn anyone who tries to get near me.

Ahh~I miss her.

[…alright, then. The cafe near the school?]

“Mm…but don’t expect that I will absolutely come.”

[Yeah, I know. Then see ya.]

Disconnecting the call, I decided to dial Miyuki’s number right away, when someone suddenly knocked on the door.

…alright, this world hates me.

I opened the door, and surprisingly both Mom and Dad stood there.

I gave them space before they walked in.

Mom sat down on the bed with an anxious expression while Dad remained standing with an equally tense demeanor.

“Everything alright?”

Hearing my question, they glanced at each other before Dad finally uttered the reason for their concern,

“Tomorrow…Shirogane Souma is coming here….to discuss the matter of your engagement with Miyuki-san.”

Hearing his words, I couldn’t help raising my brows and asking them again, “And…?”

I have already told them that I agreed to Souma-san’s proposal to get engaged with Miyuki—that’s why I couldn’t understand the reason why my parents were so nervous all of a sudden.

However, I could have never anticipated what my dear mother followed with,

“…Hiro…we don’t have any appropriate dinnerware to serve them.”

“…”
