After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 38- Purify
Ikeda Satomi and Minami weren’t blood-related sisters.
Satomi’s father remarried Minami’s mother three years ago and the two girls became sisters.
Satomi’s real mother died when Satomi was three years old and since then Satomi has spent her life mostly in isolation. Since her father always kept himself busy with his work so he didn’t have to return home often, Satomi mostly grew up without a family.
She knew her father missed his wife and didn’t want to see the same place where his wife once awaited his return.
That was why Satomi wore such fancy clothes and used accessories since she didn’t want to be left alone even in school. She drew attention to herself and made many friends—to extinguish the loneliness, she felt at home.
That was why when her father decided to remarry a woman working in the same office as him, Satomi seemed to be the happiest one.
Her new mother was such a nice and welcoming person that it felt like Satomi had already achieved everything in her life. The warmth of a mother, the homemade food, the dining table conversation with her family….yes, this was what Satomi calls a true win in life.
Although her new sister wasn’t as friendly as her mother, it didn’t matter. Satomi knew, within time Minami also would warm up to her and they would become one small happy family.
….however, the dream of having a perfect life was shattered one day when her sister came to her with a picture.
The person in the picture was familiar. It was her father standing in front of a love hotel. However, the person along with him, standing in an intimate position wasn’t his wife….rather, it was his secretary.
That day, Satomi got to know how little Minami cared about her family. And how vastly she cares about a person named Yuichi.
The deal was, that in exchange for her help, Minami would never leak the pictures which could surely lead to divorce between their parents. However, in return, Satomi has to do things that could push Yuichi in Minami’s direction.
However, for Hiroto to have the same picture was not something Satomi ever expected….and the concern remained: what does he want?
“The picture I showed you simply was to make this conversation devoid of any needless banters.”
Hearing his words she realized that he had heard about what happened when Yuichi came to meet her yesterday. And from the looks of it, Satomi knew, her insults would trigger something which she couldn’t bear to face.
While rubbing her thumb over the side of her index finger in nervousness, Satomi asked, “Are you here to blackmail me?”
Hiroto’s eyes narrowed before he shuffled the phone he was holding in his hand and said, “Stop saying such nonsense things. I am not here for that.”
Satomi was startled to see such a cold reaction. Given the situation, she just assumed what seemed the most plausible. However, the way he responded clearly told her to remain shut and listen to him first.
‘Was he always this mean?’ Satomi couldn’t help recalling her interactions with Hiroto In the past. Although he wasn’t the friendliest guy out there, he was still a pretty good company to have.
But now…
“Why don’t you share your troubles with Yuichi?”
Satomi sighed hearing that before she confessed, “My sister is madly in love with him…if he gets involved in this matter and somehow Minami finds about it….nothing less than a disaster awaits.”
Resting her elbows on the table she held her head in trepidation of a future that she didn’t want to face.
She didn’t want to be pushed into the darkness of loneliness and endure the pain of hearing only her voice echoing across the house.
“And what if Yuichi really helps you out and makes Minami delete that picture and set you free? Since we both know how much Minami likes Yuichi wouldn’t it be best to use him against her?”
Satomi blinked in surprise as a ray of hope shone on the horizon. Looking up she asked,
“And what if Yuichi declines to help me? Especially, after what I did to him in these two days?”
Hiroto sighed hearing her concern before he asked her, “Between the two of us, who knows Yuichi better?”
Satomi tilted her head before answering, “You?”
“That’s why I am telling you; trust Yuichi and confess your problems to him. That guy will surely find a way to help you out of this mess and after that, you can apologize to him as much as you want.”
Satomi took a deep breath as she contemplated the decision. Although what Hiroto said convinced her for most of the part, there still were some insecurities regarding the matter.
Hiroto clicked his tongue seeing the woman pondering over the matter this much as he nonchalantly said, “Ask his help or I will post this pic-”
“Okay, okay! I will ask for his help! Gosh, how can you be so impatient? This is about my life, y’know?”
Hiroto rolled his eyes before getting up from his seat.
Just as he was about to turn he told her, “Don’t mention about me having this picture to Yuichi.”
Satomi was so clouded with thoughts that she didn’t ponder on what he said much and nodded casually.
Once Hiroto was done with the business, he paid for the coffee and walked out of the cafe.
Walking a few steps he took out his phone and without even unlocking the screen, connected it to his ear,
“Satisfied?”
There was a small pause before someone from the other side of the call grumbled,
[Why does that girl seem to be so full of herself? Why will you blackmail her? And why did you drink that coffee? She might have added something poisonous to make you sick.]
Hiroto shook his head with a soft smile adorning his lips as he walked towards the other side of the street where a car was parked.
Not only was Miyuki hearing their conversation through the call, but she was also keeping an eye on them as well.
Just as he opened the car door and climbed inside Miyuki leaped into his arms and pressed him down the seat.
She looked into his eyes with a complaining look on her face as she said, “You reek of her odour…need to purify.”
As such for the rest of the evening, Hiroto accompanied his insecure Hime who was reluctant to separate herself for him even for a moment.
But was there anything to complain?
