After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 36- Grow up
Thanks to Hiroto’s help, Yuichi knew where Satomi worked, and as such he was going there to meet her.
‘Is this the place…’ Checking his phone for the location, Yuichi confirms that he is at the correct location before he walks in.
*Tring*
“Welcome!” The face of a pink-haired girl greeted Yuichi as he entered the cafe.
The girl seemed slightly taken aback by how attractive the guest looked which made her wonder whether he was a model.
“Please come this way.” However, being on the job for the past five years, she has gained enough intolerance that getting dazed by one’s beauty didn’t seem to be an issue for her.
Yuichi followed the girl before she led him to a two-person table.
Once seated, Yuichi asked, “Umm…is there someone with the name Ikeda Satomi working here?”
The pink head’s smile cracked a bit as her brows elevated.
“Ah, yes. Should I call her?”
Yuichi looked a little embarrassed to disturb Satomi at work but in the end, he nodded, “Yes, please.”
The pink head went back to the kitchen and after some minutes the figure of another waitress with beautiful blond hair came in his view.
‘She looks different…’ Her high-tied ponytail bounced with every step while her clear blue eyes remained indifferently constant at Yuichi. Her tall yet feminine physique with long legs attracted many gazes but Yuichi wasn’t an immodest rascal to look at anything but her face.
“Your order?” Hearing her words, Yuichi broke out of his daze before he hurriedly shook his head.
“I am not here-”
“I know; you want to talk. However, you have to order something to occupy that seat.”
Yuichi nodded in understanding before he took a quick glance at the menu and asked her, “Anything you suggest?”
“Cheese garlic bread and coffee, is it?” Hearing her words without a second thought, Yuichi tilted his head.
However, the way she seemed confident in her choice he didn’t ponder much before nodding.
Satomi went toward the counter and placed the note before walking back to him.
“So…are you here for revenge?” Yuichi was a little taken aback at her straightforward question before he glanced around a bit and found some gazes turning in his direction.
‘Is this some kind of counter?’ Yuichi wondered since if he really had any malicious intent, he wouldn’t have dared to harm her, now that Satomi gathered attention on him.
However, Yuichi didn’t dwell on the matter for long since he wasn’t here for any revenge in the first place.
“You don’t seem even as regretful as you were in school,” Yuichi uttered with a wry smile; commenting on her uncaring attitude.
“Does it matter? In the end, it was I who called you there and made a joke out of you, in front of the students.”
“But are you really one behind the incident?”
Satomi narrowed her gaze and expertly hid how startled she was hearing those words as she responded, “What do you mean?”
Yuichi leaned forward before resting his arms on the table as he maintained eye contact with her and dictated his suspicion,
“I have a feeling that you didn’t actually want to prank me and you even felt bad that people were bad-mouthing me. ”
Yuichi wasn’t an expert at reading people’s faces but the way she looked so lonely and remorseful at that moment was in plain vision to him. At that time, everyone was focusing on Yuichi but he was looking at no one but Satomi. As such, he found himself a reason to visit her.
“You are quite delusional, aren’t you?”
Yuichi frowned hearing her response before Satomi leaned back in her seat and tilted her head with a thin smile lifting her lips.
“You’re nothing but an egotistical fool, believing you’re some kind of hotshot who’s immune to any girl’s disdain or mischief. Wake up and smell the humiliation; any girl could easily make a mockery out of you with a fake confession.”
Leaning forward, she matched his clearly agitated gaze before concluding, “Your ego is hurt, Yuichi and you aren’t able to cope with it.”
The silence between them was heavy as Yuichi stared into her eyes for a good ten seconds before his patience was worn out and he took out his wallet.
Taking out some bills he slammed them on the table before extending his parting words,
“Thanks for the clarification, Satomi. It helped.”
Hearing Yuichi’s distancing footsteps, Satomi didn’t turn to look at him and remained seated.
The fake evil smile she had crumbled, and what took its place was sadness and regret.
Yuichi wasn’t wrong. She indeed was guilty of what she did. She was inwardly cursing her in those moments when Yuichi was being made fun of. She was breaking apart from within when she was insulting him just now….however, she had to take such a harsh step.
She knew Yuichi’s kind personality and how he could to some extreme lengths to help even a stranger. However, Satomi didn’t want Yuichi to intervene in this matter. If things went wrong then Satomi would lose everything.
And that conclusion would be far worse than being hated by Yuichi.

“Mm….understood. Where are you at the moment?” Miyuki’s hand moved around the stone mill as she ground the tea leaves, however, her eyes remained narrowed on her lover—who currently was talking to someone quite intimately.
It wasn’t that Hiroto didn’t notice her gaze but she looked so beautiful while being jealous that he began sounding a little more secretive.
“…yes, you should. Don’t make any rash decisions and go back home for now. If possible, talk to Kaori.”
It was Yuichi on the call, from whom Hiroto got the news about what happened when he visited Satomi.
As he expected the meeting ended up on a nasty note as Satomi said some of the meanest things to Yuichi. However, since it was a canon event, Hiroto didn’t feel surprised
Once he disconnected the call, he looked at his precious, who was grinding the tea leaves a little too harshly.
“Are you trying to brew some dark poison?” Hiroto joked since Miyuki had been grinding the leaves for the last half an hour. He was now getting worried that she would strain her hand.
“Why? Can’t you drink poison from your girlfriend?” Hearing her query, Hiroto grinned. However, before he could answer she raised both of her hands and interjected;
“No, stop! Don’t answer that. First tell me, who was on the phone?”
Thankfully this was a private cabin in the tea house or Hiroto might have felt troubled letting others see that cute expression of hers.
Not to talk about how she fails her hand like a penguin. Truly adorable.
Hiroto stopped her from grinding the leaves before he answered her, “It was from Yuichi. It seems he went to talk with Ikeda Satomi about the prank and she humiliated him even more. Now, Yuichi wants my help.”
Miyuki raised her brows as she poured hot water in the bowl and began to whisk before asking,
“And…? How are you going to help him now?”
Hiroto wryly smiled at that.
She definitely isn’t going to like this—he inwardly muttered.

And uh, I never got the chance to include this in the chapter but there is a time gap of one day between this and the previous chapter. Well, I think it won’t make anything confusing….
