After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine

“Hmm…understood.”

“No, I won’t. Don’t worry.”

“Yeah…got it.”

After some words of assurance, Yuichi finally disconnected the call.

Looking at the darkened screen of his mobile phone, Yuichi sighed before turning his head toward the floor-to-ceiling glass panel that showed the city beneath.

He remained silent for a bit; contemplating what he just heard.

The first thing Yuichi does in the morning while jogging on the treadmill is watch the news. It has been a habit of his since a very young age. He used to watch the news to know whether his parents were alive or not, but news channels never showed anything about the accident he met all those years ago.

Coming to the point, upon finding the news on TV about the massacre at the cathedral, Yuichi naturally called some of his connections to know a little more deeply about this matter.

What he found out after deliberate investigation was the fact, that every member of the Garis Claw gang was planning to attack the Shirogane family today. Not only that, but they were about to sabotage the special forces, the Shirogane family possess.

However, at the peak of the night, someone arrived and left nothing but a graveyard behind.

‘Was it because of what Hiroto did back then?’ It wasn’t tough for Yuichi to join the pieces. He already knew that the gang member Hiroto killed ‘accidentally’ that day was an important member of the gang.

‘Let’s see…’ Yuichi took his phone and the first person he decided to call was Miyuki.

He wanted to know whether she had any idea about this matter. Naturally, he wasn’t going to tell her, but if she did know, he could at least console the girl.

Scrolling through the call logs, he reached the number and dialed.

Just after the third ring, the call was connected…however, the voice that greeted him was not what Yuichi expected.

[Hey, Yuichi. How come you are calling Miyuki today?]

Yuichi was taken aback but he soon collected himself and asked, “Hiro? Are you with Shirogane-san?”

Yuichi’s reaction was justifiable since Miyuki and Hiroto weren’t on friendly terms…well, not enough for Hiroto to pick up her calls and for them to spend time together on weekends.

[Ah, yeah. We are on a date…sorta. You needed her for something?]

“?!!” Yuichi was now even more surprised hearing his words.

‘They are dating?’ It wasn’t like there was something wrong with them dating but considering their past, Hiroto seemed the last person to approach Miyuki.

Regardless, Yuichi didn’t want to dwell on negative factors when his friend finally seemed to have found himself a partner.

“No, nothing important. Enjoy your day.”

Disconnecting the call, the cloud of gloom over Yuichi’s face disappeared and what replaced it was a soft smile.

Yuichi was happy for them.

Hiroto held Miyuki’s phone in hand with a small frown marring his face.

“Who was it?” Hearing Miyuki’s voice, he turned to look at the girl, who had gone to the restroom some minutes ago.

Since she would surely see the call logs, Hiroto didn’t lie to her, “It was Yuichi.”

Anyone could have detected how Hiroto’s voice had turned a little colder than his usual tone and the glint in his eyes showed nothing but wariness.

According to Hiroto, Miyuki and Yuichi’s canon counters that could have elevated Miyuki’s feelings for Yuichi, were all dissipated because of Hiroto’s interference. Yet…for Yuichi to call her out of the blue.

On the other hand, Miyuki didn’t sense the change in his natural demeanor and asked, “Why did he call?”

Miyuki had never received a call from Yuichi before and considering the said boy’s personality, it was highly likely that something important must be the reason for his call.

“You seem rather interested.” Miyuki raised her brows seeing Hiroto’s unnatural behavior before she asked,

“You mind?”

Now, it was Hiroto’s turn to get surprised as he counter-questioned, “Would you care if I mind?”

Miyuki had no idea why they seemed to be arguing over this but she answered truthfully, “I mean…I won’t deliberately do something to hurt you…”

For some reason, her face began to heat up when she spoke those words. She self questioned herself, ‘Why do I care about his opinion so much?’, yet at the same time, she didn’t want to do anything that could damage their current relationship.

In response, Hiroto’s expression went completely blank, before he brought his hand over hers, and earnestly declared,

“Then let’s get married.”

…

“!!!”

Miyuki’s face shone with a crimson gleam as she registered his words.

“Don’t spout nonsense, baka!”

In a fit of embarrassment, she began to sip on the drink resting close to her…only to realize it was a chocolate smoothie.

Miyuki took another sip before detaching her lips from the straw and asked, “Why did you order such a high-calorie and childish drink for me when you yourself are having just a coffee?”

This complaint arrived only after she took another sip.

And another.

Hiroto wanted to chuckle at how she was trying to resist the temptation but failing miserably.

“Sometimes we need to let loose and just live our life without any restriction.” Wiping the smoothie sticking at the corner of her lips with his thumb, Hiroto told her.

Seeing him licking the thumb with which he wiped her lips, elevated her blush, but Miyuki didn’t throw another tantrum for that.

“Whatever you say, but it’s a fact that taking a lot of calories could slow down my body and make my senses, dull.”

Miyuki always pays attention to her health and calculates how much she takes and burns every day. She desires to be perfect in every field.

In response to that, Hiroto rested his elbows on the table, and with his brows raised, he suggested,

“Well…I have a very efficient way of burning calories…”

*THUMP*

Immediately after he passed the comment, Miyuki’s head hit the table as she hid her embarrassing expression from this verbally harassing man.

As she thought, this person was not someone she could handle with a straight face. He was just too much!

A/N:- The romance approach is different in this one since a lot of things occurred within three days. So yeah, it may feel absurd for some but I will try to reason everything

Well, there is no reasoning for love so yeah.

Now we are moving toward the next arc, for the introduction of all the main characters and the drama they will bring.

Ah, the drama…is so gonna be spicy.
