After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 23- Have patience...
[Miyuki’s POV:]
If someone had told me to embrace a man who was not my lover or my father, then I would have felt repulsed.
However, at the moment, I felt like clinging to Takeda-kun was the greatest joy of my life.
The time when he was away, I felt restless, but holding my pride, I considered that I would never rely on a man to comfort me. To soothe my worries and tell me that everything was fine.
But, I guess I overestimated myself…or maybe, there was something about Takeda-kun that made him different from others?
Regardless, the only thing my mind could think about, at the moment, was the warmth I was receiving from the man, who tenderly held me in his arms and slowly patted my back like he was trying to coax a baby.
“Where did you go…” I didn’t have the right to ask him, yet it didn’t feel out of place.
“Just to clean out some trash. Were you awake this all time?” I weakly nodded my head; unaware of why I was behaving so obediently toward him.
“I am sorry for leaving you alone. I know what you have gone through so you don’t need to hide your pain from me.” The way he protectively hugged my body with his strong arms, provided a sense of relief, and my shoulders naturally relaxed.
However, upon closer inspection, I recalled something that had been bothering me since earlier,
“How do you know, what I have gone through?”
He seemed too calm and understanding about this incident to believe that he wasn’t just speaking some consoling words. It almost felt like he had also lived those moments with me….which made me remember something.
To know whether I saw all that was true or not, I slowly moved my hand toward his ankle. Since he was sitting crisscross on the bed with me on his lap (I know it’s pretty shameful for a maiden) it was easy to reach his ankle in no time.
And as I expected,
“I knew it!” I pulled out the knife he had hidden in his socks. And unsurprisingly, it was the same knife, he used to stab Kasumi.
I looked at Takeda-kun for answers, but only a sigh reached my ears like he already knew what I was going to do.
He grabbed the knife from me and slowly pulled it away before responding in a defeated tone, “Can you…wait just a little longer? I promise I will answer all your questions rightfully, but I need some time.”
I blinked in a little surprise, with my demeanor sobering up.
I have never seen those deep eyes before on him. Those eyes just pleaded with me to be a little patient. That, I should understand his feelings and don’t question any further.
The fact that Takeda-kun didn’t deny all those memories as just my delusion, signifies that I wasn’t suffering from a nightmare. I indeed died and the person who embraced me in my last moments was holding me currently as well.
In the end, I can only embrace him again and mutter under my breath,
“…I can wait…but please, don’t take too long.”
“Mm, I promise.”

It was around twelve on the clock, when Hiroto was finally ensured that Miyuki was asleep.
In her current condition, there was no way he could have left her alone. And Miyuki was also not against the idea of having Hiroto by her side even for the whole night.
In general, Hiroto knew, Miyuki would have never allowed anyone to stay in her room, regardless of gender. Until she doesn’t trust and loves someone more than herself, she can’t allow them to breach her private space. However, right now, she seemed reluctant to let him go even for a moment.
Finally when she fell asleep, was when Hiroto was able to plan his next move.
‘Seriously…that goddess screwed up the plot, a big time…’ It was a fact that not only him, but Miyuki also regressed, which made things complicated. The reason he hadn’t told her about this time-traveling thing yet, was because Hiroto wanted to be a hundred percent sure.
Would she also regress if only he dies and vice versa? While Hiroto would not allow Miyuki to get hurt ever again, he needed to be sure about this curse, first.

At the same time, on the ground floor of the mansion.
After most of the servants had returned to their rooms since it was nearing midnight, a certain room was currently occupied by several maids.
All of them had troubled expressions on their faces as they looked at the certain brown-haired maid, who was also in charge of taking care of Miyuki.
The brunette named Kasumi was continuously dialing a number in hopes of contacting her lover.
Tomorrow was a big day, for everyone in this mansion. Some of the maids, who were involved in this mission were bought by the Garis Claw clan, and as such, their involvement in the betrayal becomes the most vital.
The plan was to feed every person, including both families, with mild drugs through food so their natural capability to think and move, slows down. They didn’t want to risk a lot and also the Gang leader wanted to kill Hiroto by himself, that’s why he told Kasumi and the other maids to keep the drugs at the bare minimum.
If not, Kasumi would have killed everyone by herself. But well, tomorrow would be a life-changing day for both families.
“Why are none of them picking up their phones?!” Kasumi was extremely agitated by this point since no one from the gang was picking up the phone at all. Not even her lover.
“You think…something might have happened to them?”
One of the maids voiced out her thoughts on the matter in a timid voice.
Unlike what the little maid thought, Kasumi didn’t lash at her, since she was thinking the same.
“Maybe, the assassination of the special troop go haywire?” Gaining a little confidence, another maid wondered loudly.
However, this time, Kasumi reacted with a click of her tongue, “Don’t be ridiculous. The special troops were to be handled by Shimazu Takeru. Why would-”
Kasumi’s voice suddenly choked in her throat when she turned toward the bed and found, someone familiar sitting with his knees folded and arms wrapped around them. The boy had a piercing gaze and his demeanor made everyone high on alert.
“Takeru huh…so he is your contractor.” The extremely cold voice of the boy made everyone freeze at their spot with their eyes stretched to the extreme.
“H-Hiroto-sama…” Kasumi was beyond flabbergasted by the fact that despite the room being locked, and everyone spread around the place, no one saw him walking in.
Hiroto tilted his head at Kasumi before he pointed his finger, and asked, “You…despite knowing how Miyuki treats you like her sister…you didn’t even think twice before betraying her, huh? Are hoes this cheap, these days?”
Kasumi snapped in anger. She knew it was over. He knew everything and since no guards had arrived in this room, it seemed he solely knew about the plan.
‘What he alone can do against eight of us?’
This was the biggest miscalculation Kasumi did, which cost nothing but her life.
