After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 21- I am here for you
[Hiroto’s POV:]
“…what happened? Are you alright?” Hearing the familiar voice of my mother, I instantly turned my head in her direction…and fortunately, there was only concern on her face, not blood.
It was an unbelievable experience of rebirth but it was real, nevertheless.
I died and traveled back in time.
“Mom…I am going back to my room. My stomach aches.” I already knew what she was saying before I took hold of the consciousness, so I didn’t need her to repeat it.
She was telling me about what I should wear tomorrow. The reason for concern for my apparel was that we would be going to meet the Shirogane family tomorrow. And apparently, we would be slaughtered if I didn’t do something about it.
“Take some medicine and sleep early.” Humming in response, I sped my way upstairs.
Once inside, I crouched down to rest my body weight on my toes and stared at the ground.
I have gone through numerous missions where I would have died, if not for my hard-earned survival skills. However, in this life, I had something which I never had the luxury to have in the past.
People whom I care for.
I wouldn’t say that I was emotionally attached to my parents as a son should be, but still, the remnants of Hiroto’s soul wouldn’t have allowed me to abandon them. Not to talk about Miyuki was also there.
‘Miyuki…’ Remembering how terrified she seemed in those last moments, my heart trembled. And all these shows, how my feelings weren’t just superficial for that girl.
I indeed cared for her.
‘Let’s see…’ Taking out my phone, I decided to text her and see what she was up to. The sun hasn’t gone down yet, and before leaving for work, I wanted to at least hear something from Miyuki.
Me: [So…what preparations should I expect tomorrow?]
Originally, I didn’t text her since I wanted to give her some space. But now, I just wanted to receive any text from her that could assure me of her safety.
For some reason, she began typing just a moment after my message was delivered, which was quite surprising.
…but little did I think, that she would reply in such an explicit manner.
Miyuki: [Don’t come to my house tomorrow! Please…just don’t!]
I blinked in confusion. Not only it seemed that Miyuki was in panic but the fact that she knew about our family’s visit tomorrow was also perplexing. After all, she got to know about this meeting tomorrow in the morning.
While I was thinking about what could have caused such a reaction from her, another message popped up,
Miyuki: [Just…please stay at home tomorrow. I beg you.]
Now this was definitely suspicious.

Miyuki had no idea what was happening around her.
She has locked herself in her room and has denied any calls from her parents and maids. She didn’t want to meet anyone…especially Kasumi.
Her mind was faltering to believe what she saw was a dream or reality.
The day when her best friend betrayed her and her whole family along with the Takeda family was killed by those assailants.
‘No…that can’t be a dream…I refuse to believe all of that was just an illusion…’
Unbeknownst to herself, Miyuki has curled up in a corner of her room shivering at the memories of her body getting penetrated by several bullets and the lights from her eyes dying out.
It was too real! She really died!
‘But who would believe me…’ She couldn’t just walk up to her parents and say that most of the maids inside the mansion are traitors and a large-scale attack would be targeting their home tomorrow?
People would consider her insane, nothing more. After all, other than her words, there is no evidence in her possession, at all.
‘But Dad would trust me right….right?’ Tears welled in her eyes as the girl sobbed silently, dreading whether her cries might alert the assailants lurking around.
She didn’t want to face that again…she didn’t want to die again…
‘Painful…painful…’ She clawed her skin to remove the burning sensation creeping all over her body. However, the feeling never left her.
It was then,
*Tap* *Tap*
Miyuki flinched as someone knocked on her window, which was just beside her bed. She could see the person on the ledge of her window, looking at her with concern on their face.
Miyuki didn’t think twice before she opened the window and pulled the person inside.
“Hiroto….you are here…why are you here?” Despite that she was clinging to him as if her life depended on it, she was asking the reason behind his sudden arrival.
Was he worried for her? Did he sense how anxious she was? Why was he here? It must be that right?
Miyuki didn’t know…she didn’t know anything other than the fact that Hiroto was right in front of her and she was enveloped by his warmth. He was alive and she was embracing him.
And right now, there was nothing that could have made her feel more alive.
“It’s okay…everything is fine…calm down, I am here for you.” His soft whisper allowed her to feel a little calmer than before. But was that enough for Miyuki to let go?
Was it enough for her to release the only sense of peace she had after waking up from that ‘nightmare’?
No, absolutely not.
Embracing him tightly she found herself being lifted off her feet, which Miyuki didn’t resist.
Hiroto slowly sat at the edge of the bed and made Miyuki comfortable on his lap.
She was entirely curled up with her arms wrapped around his neck.
It would be a lie to say that Hiroto wasn’t a little uneasy about her behavior all of a sudden.
Considering her usual demeanor around someone she only saw as a classmate…Hiroto indeed has more than one reason to be concerned here.
However, he didn’t want to rush things and make her any more anxious. She seemed to be suffering a lot already.
…Hiroto somehow felt that he knew the reason behind her reaction. And truth be told, he didn’t want his hunch to land on the right spot, for this one.
‘It can’t be…’
After what seemed like ten minutes, the sound of soft snoring reached his ear which broke his daze.
Gazing down, he found Miyuki had fallen asleep, and her facial expression wasn’t as much troubled as before.
Sighing in relief, Hiroto continued to look at her for a minute…and two…and three, before he realized that it was kinda bad to take advantage of the moment.
Getting up, he cautiously laid her down on the bed and draped a blanket over her.
For a moment, when he leaned, his lips halted just inches apart from her forehead…but he soon pulled back and mumbled under his breath,
“Sleep well. I will be back in no time.”
