- Chapter 19- You don\'t embarrass me
Miyuki was torn between her emotions.
When she entered the drawing hall, she was met with Hiroto’s gaze, which was to be expected. However, the way he slowly got up from his seat with his passionate eyes never leaving her…made her both nervous and slightly elated?
Miyuki was not lacking in compliments. She received numerous compliments, daily. Whether it was her maids, classmates, and sometimes even strangers saying good things about her looks.
However, Hiroto didn’t say anything at all yet Miyuki could feel her heart beating a little faster than before.
‘Maybe I am just anxious…’ Holding her stance she walked elegantly toward the sofa and stood in front of Hiroto.
“Please have a seat.” Offering a courteous smile, Miyuki invited the ‘guest’ .
Hiroto remained still for a moment, just looking her in the eyes which left Miyuki a little restless. However, she didn’t allow her facade to break and waited patiently.
“…alright.” Seeing Hiroto sigh and take the seat without saying anything about her, made Miyuki both relieved yet a little bit bitter?
She really was not in her right mind.
Regardless, Miyuki also walked around the table and sat across Hiroto with her left leg overlapping the right one and her hands resting over her thighs.
Hiroto was noticing each of her movements….but not saying anything at all.
A minute passed…and another…and another…and before another minute could have gone by, Miyuki finally asked with her tone turning a little stiff,
“Aren’t you behaving a little too cold today?”
She didn’t know what side of Hiroto was true. Just yesterday, he was all over her. Praising her, taking care of her, paying attention to her…and now, he was just ignoring her very existence.
What did she do wrong?
In contrast to Miyuki’s broken thought process, Hiroto asked in a calm voice,
“Don’t I embarrass you?”
Miyuki sucked on a short breath upon hearing that.
She didn’t say anything immediately but rather contemplated what he said.
“….did I offend you?” Miyuki asked in a weak tone with her eyes falling toward the ground.
It would be appropriate to say that shouting like that when Miyuki should be greeting Hiroto, was nothing less than insulting.
Due to her self-reflection, she completely misses how a soft smile spreads on his lips as Hiroto consoles her,
“I didn’t feel insulted, so don’t worry Miyuki. Rather…the way you shouted at me signified how I was able to arouse the real you from beneath that mask.”
Miyuki’s body went stiff but as she lifted her gaze to look at him, Miyuki found the seat in front, empty.
Darting her gaze toward the entrances she found the group of adults had returned with a cheerful atmosphere around them, and Hiroto also accompanying them.
“Let’s go, Miyu-chan. Dinner is prepared.” Miyuki’s mother extended her hand as she urged Miyuki to join them.
The said girl lifted herself off the sofa and walked toward her mother…with a soft smile inevitably lifting the edges of her lips.

Around the dining table, the maids and servants were busily arranging food on the plates of the six.
Hiroto was sitting with his father and mother on either side, and the same was for Miyuki who was just in front of him.
There was no tradition of taking the head seat by the man of the house so this sitting arrangement didn’t feel uncomfortable for both families.
Hiroto along with others did the small prayer before they began eating the traditional food.
There was no authentic Western food, no fancy dishes just typical Japanese yet delicious food.
“You should taste the sushi, Hiro. It’s great.” Hearing her mother’s suggestion, Hiroto lightly shook his head and replied, “I don’t feel like eating fish.”
Hiroto knew that it may cause some suspicion between his parents upon seeing his sudden aversion to fish, but he couldn’t help it. Some of the things were beyond tolerable.
Hiroto was about to slice his steak and continue eating when suddenly, the familiar maid who ran behind Miyuki previously leaned closer to Hiroto, and with the pretense of filling his glass, she whispered,
“Miyuki-sama has prepared the sushi today…especially for you.” Kasumi knew she added that last remark by herself, but who cares?
On the other side, Miyuki noticed how her maid whispered something in Hiroto’s ear, and in no time, he slid his steak away and filled his plates with sushi.
“These are so…perfect.” Just the first bite and Hiroto sighed in admiration. Not so long after, something like ‘The chef did a great job’ and along those lines also escaped his lips.
While the Takeda couple were confused by Hiroto’s sudden change of mind, the group of three on the other side knew what changed.
To say that Lady Shirogane was elated would be an understatement as she grinned from ear to ear. The head of the house seemed unaffected as he continued eating his food; however, deep down he was continuously pondering over this matter.
And if about Miyuki…then she was barely holding her chopsticks as she secretly mumbled,
‘…just you wait Kasumi.’ She herself didn’t realize how there was a small smile hanging on her lips.

The lunch went seemingly well, thanks to the matching wavelength of the four adults. The food was nice and the atmosphere was quite welcoming.
After they left the dining space, the group of six sat in the drawing room where the maids were serving and the conversation went on.
Finding the opportunity, Souma began, “Actually, I was planning to come to your house initially but since my wife also wanted to meet you three, I changed the plan.”
The Takeda couple seemed surprised that someone as busy as Souma would bother coming to their house.
“Is everything alright? I mean, we are honored to be invited here, but what’s the occasion?”
Ryouske was playing ignorant since the topic wasn’t brought up until now. He didn’t want to be rude to outwardly ask, ‘Why did you call us here’ or something.
Souma was about to respond when suddenly the sound of a gunshot was heard outside the mansion.
*BOOM*
Just as the group sprang to their feet, a loud explosion made the ground tremble making Yuki nearly fall forward.
Souma immediately held his wife and helped her stand back, with his eyes roaming around.
Just who could have dared attack the Shirogane family in broad daylight?

A/N:- Drop a comment. It’s my experiment to mix some action with typical yandere romance. Hope it goes well.
