After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 118- Back up
“This is some mess you have gotten yourself into.” Inside her room, Kaori sat with her boyfriend with their arms hooked and the green-haired leaning her head on his shoulder.
Inside the room, there was one other person as well, who deserved to know everything about Yuichi and from her reaction, it could be said Minami was concerned rather than shocked.
“Can I accompany you, Yu-kun?” Minami softly asked, her concern lay in the fact that Yuichi would have to deal with an underworld gang leader all on his own.
“Wait…after hearing so many things you have only that reaction?” Yuichi was baffled, “Aren’t you like….rethinking your perception toward me?”
Yuichi couldn’t help but ask in a bit of astonishment seeing the lack of reaction from the two. Well, since Kaori knew most of the story, it was understandable why she didn’t say much, but Minami?
“Are you shocked that we didn’t react or are you disappointed?” Kaori teased, only to get glared at by Yuichi as he spoke in a matter-of-fact tone.
“You know I won’t feel disappointed because of it. I don’t have a past which I could boast about.”
Kaori flashed a grin before affirming, “Surely but never even once while listening to you, I felt you did anything wrong.” Glancing at Minami, Kaori added, “And I am sure, Minami feels the same way.”
“Indeed, there was nothing a seven-year-old child could have done after being separated from his family. And even after becoming a part of the underworld you never find pleasure in hurting others.”
Yuichi heaved a sigh, feeling quite complicated upon hearing their responses. It wasn’t like he expected them to just get up and break up, but still, there was a certain fear in his heart that what if they started to see him in a different light after hearing his whole story?
Minami drew closer to the duo as she dragged the chair with her before she positioned it right before Yuichi. Holding his hand, she asked, “How are you going to deal with this trouble, Yu-kun?”
The trouble she was talking about was the matter relating to Hanabi and the collaboration he has to make possible for the sake of getting Hanabi back.
Yuichi didn’t hesitate much before responding, “Don’t worry, Hiroto is standing as my backup, and until he is there, I know I can cross any obstacle awaiting.”
Kaori was expecting such a response, but a frown marred Minami’s face as she asked, “Please don’t mind when I say this, but you are relying on him too much, Yu-kun. Hiroto-kun might be a good friend but he is still just a student-”
Her words came to a pause as Yuichi’s phone suddenly rang.
He took it out and instantly picked it up before putting it on speaker,
“Yes, Hiro?”
[I have found his daughter and have called her back. She will land in Japan by tomorrow morning. You have to meet her at ten, at a venue which is yet to be decided. I will also be there but I won’t be coming in light for the most part. Don’t worry, I have already prepared what you can say to convince her.]
With a smile that was directed at an embarrassed Minami, Yuichi responded,
“Thanks, buddy, I will be there.”
*Beep*
Once the call ended, Yuichi rested his hand on an ashamed Minami’s head before uttering, “It will take some time, but you will understand why I trust and rely on Hiro this much.”

Hiroto disconnected the call and walked back into the living room where his Hime was arranging things.
They moved into their new house yesterday and have been arranging things slowly. School would open in three days so they had all the time to settle down.
“Hiro-kun? What do you think, a red or blue beanbag would be better?” She asked while staring at the spot beside the TV.
The living area was quite big with half of it occupied by sofas, and worked as a reception. And the other half had a comfortable couch and a tv across; a place where Hiroto believed he would be spending most of his time aside from the bedroom.
Hugging her waist, he rested his chin on her shoulder before looking at the spot and suggesting, “Since the theme of the house is grey and black, why don’t we buy a new one?”
Miyuki shook her head before telling him, “No can do, Hiro-kun. Now I am a housewife who has to look after the budget and have to avoid needless expenditure.”
Hiroto grinned, “Daughter of The Shirogane Souma has to think about the budget and control her expenses? This is news worth being flashed on headlines.”
Miyuki narrowed her eyes in complaint, “Don’t make fun of me, Hiro-kun.”
She shrugged him off and went towards the dining table to arrange the small decoration items.
Hiroto followed his Hime before telling her, “You know I can earn millions in a day right? And not through some illegal activities but by just showing off a little skills I have gained in my previous world.”
“But you don’t have to, Hiro-kun. We are normal students who will get our degrees and a job. And no shortcuts.”
Pointing a spoon at him she spoke in a determined manner.
Hiroto raised his hands before assenting, “As you say, my lady. But what will we do for our regular expenditure? Surely we cannot rely on our parents for monthly allowance right?”
Miyuki shrugged, “Why can’t we? Until we don’t graduate it’s our right to rely on our parents. And knowing my Dad, if I return the card he gave me he would probably find some other way to make our life easier.”
Hiroto, while nodding, said, “That…is something he can do.” There won’t be any surprise if the supermarkets around them suddenly start selling things at the cost of nearly nothing.
Hiroto heaved a sigh, “So I am pretty much becoming a gigolo who would live off his girlfriend’s money?”
Miyuki worriedly asked, “Don’t phrase it like that. I-I mean we c-can start-”
“Yep, I can definitely find myself a side hustle. You know me, Miyuki, whenever I have nothing to do, I get sick, so I will just start some online business.”
Miyuki agreed to that and suggested, “I can also help. I no longer have any home tuition, so after school, I would be free for the whole day, so why not give some time to this and see if we could be completely self-sufficient.”
Hiroto smiled at that before he went to the kitchen and brought two glasses filled with orange juice before handing one of them to Miyuki.
Raising the glass he said, “Cheers to our new life.”
With an elated smile and her eyes becoming crescent, she tapped the glass before chiming,
“Cheers!”
