After rebirth, I confessed to the losing heroine - Chapter 103- Options
This place always irked her. She has grown up in this place, but as Hanabi grew up, she started to feel repulsive to return here. This was maybe an influence of the person whom she loves. Regardless, if anything she was sure of then it was her reluctance to be here.
“You seem displeased.” The heavy voice of the bald man who sat on the big oak chair behind the table resonated in the room—where only he and Hanabi were present.
The annoying smell of tobacco and gunpowder filled her nose—urging her to light up a scented candle that she always carries whenever she is invited here.
“You already know the reason for my displeasure.” Hanabi straightforwardly responded and in a tone that clearly reflected her current mood.
There was not an ounce of fear or hesitation in her voice even though she was talking to the leader of the strongest underworld gang.
Reason for her fearlessness? The man in front was none other than her father—Tojou Hotarou.
His bald head was covered in tattoos of different symbols and signs. He was wearing a black formal coat over a white t-shirt, and his calloused left hand held the cigar he was about to light up.
Hanabi frowned, and before he could use the lighter to ignite the cigar, she got up, leaned forward, and snatched the cancer product away.
Hotaru didn’t react—rather, he deliberately chose to smoke one in front of her despite not having the urge—intending to see if she still cared about him.
“Otou-san, are you raring to meet your maker so much?”
The man leaned back in his chair and rested his forearms on the armrests, as he asked, “Aren’t you wishing for it?”
Hanabi glared at the old man and scoffed, “I would have shot you already if I really wanted to.”
Hotarou’s throat rang with a chuckle as he rubbed his bald head. This daughter of his…she has taken all her mother’s traits. Fearless and straight with her intentions.
“Otou-san…have you summoned me because of that incident?” Hearing those words the smile on his face cracked.
He aligned his teal green eyes with Hanabi’s bright emerald ones.
The atmosphere suddenly froze once there was neither of them talking.
The man looked at his daughter intently before asking, “How long are you going to be his lap dog? Darting into action with just a word from him?”
Hanabi clenched her fist under the table before responding, “There was an urgent matter and no one could have helped him except for me. He never asked for your help, right?”
“But you are mine, Hana. You are my flesh and blood so asking your help is the same as asking my help.” His stern voice made her shudder, and involuntarily, she lowered her eyes.
The daunting aura of the man rendered her powerless as she heard him continuing, “When he was leaving, I made things clear…and now, he is crossing the line.” Leaning forward, his voice became heavier as he added, “And you know the consequences of crossing the line with me.”
“O-Otou-san I-” Her stammering voice came to a complete halt when he raised his finger with his eyes strongly closed.
The man opened his eyes, and the traces of familial warmth had completely vanished.
In a voice that could threaten a person down their core, he told her, “The next time I catch you meeting with him for anything…he either comes back or dies.”
There was no room for argument, nor was any persuasion allowed. Hanabi’s eyes moistened but it was ignored as she got up and slowly walked out.
‘What should I do….’ Feeling helpless in the situation she laid down her bed and thought carefully.
She couldn’t contact Yuichi nor could she meet him. However, if he decided to talk to her, there was a high chance her father would take some extreme steps….and Hanabi didn’t want to let that happen.
But how could she contact Yuichi without getting in contact with him? She didn’t have any network of her own. She was feeling all helpless.
‘Ah!’ Amidst the spreading hopelessness, suddenly, a name came up in her mind that might be able to help her.
And without thinking twice, she called him.
*******
The rays of sunlight peeked through the small gap in the curtains—reflecting her charming face as she frowned in her sleep.
It took a moment for Hiroto to notice what disturbed hia Hime’s sleep, but it was already late as she slowly woke up and looked at him, outstretching his hand over her to close the curtains.
“Morning…” In a slightly groggy tone, she greeted him. Her lips stretched into a smile upon finding her favorite person beside her early in the morning.
Hiroto brought his hand to her face and softly removed the hair strand. Inching closer he kissed her forehead before responding, “Good morning. Did you sleep well?”
“Asking that after keeping me awake until four is a little heartless…” She mumbled with her eyes half closed. Last night, Hiroto made love to her, and unlike the previous times, he was absolutely gentle with his approach.
With slight guilt, he smiled and softly kissed her closed eyes before whispering, “Blame your allure that extinguished my rationality.”
Miyuki giggled as she received the tender love of her fiancé.
They both were lazily lying on the bed and having a sweet bed talk when suddenly, Hiroto heard his phone ringing.
He assumed that it might be his parents since last night he left his house when they were sleeping and came here. And in the morning upon not finding Hiroto in his room, they might be getting worried.
However, the moment Hiroto looked at the caller’s number he frowned.
“Hiro-kun?” Miyuki straightened her back and asked in confusion.
Hiroto picked up the call and put it on speaker,
“Hello?”
[Hello, Takeda Hiroto-kun?]
Hearing a girl’s voice from the other side, Miyuki frowned.
Hiroto gave her a look that said ‘just wait and see’ before asking the person on the call,
“Did something happen with Yuichi?”
There was a momentary silence from the other side which made Hiroto slightly worried since it was unexpected for Hanabi to call him.
And upon hearing her following words, Hiroto realized that it was already time for the next arc.
“Meet me at the Hailey’s cafe near the station in an hour. Let’s talk there.”
[…alright. And Hiroto-kun, please don’t tell Yuichi-kun anything about this call.]
Hiroto hummed before he disconnected the call and looked at Miyuki.
Drawing close, Hiroto knelt on the bed, before he asked her, “Miyuki, I might need your help very soon.”
Miyuki decided to express her displeasure later and diligently nodded, “Just tell me what you need.”
