- Chapter 23 - I Participated in the All-School Assembly
I Participated in the All-School Assembly
The moment when Horinochi was about to get me, Kaede saved me.
But Kaede was even scarier. She was seriously super scary. There stood Kaede with eyes dyed pitch black in darkness, even scarier than any frightening Kaede I had seen before.
I had thought Horinochi’s glare was intense, but I had not felt much fear because I had seen Kaede’s enraged eyes many times. Faced with this terrifying gaze of hers, any other eyes would pale in comparison.
“Sorry, Ryoma-kun. I noticed this girl was bothering you, but I was a bit busy with student council work, so I was late in coming to help.”
“No, you made it in time. Thank you, Kaede.”
Kaede looked at me with a slightly gentler expression, but it was still plenty scary. When she shifted her gaze to Horinochi, it reverted to that terrifying look.
“Hey, Horinochi-san, you stepped on Ryoma-kun’s foot, didn’t you? What the hell do you think you’re doing? If his foot had broken, how were you planning to take responsibility? Should I throw you straight into the guillotine?”
“Let go, you big-tits bitch…!”
“Who are you calling a big-tits bitch?”
Creak.
“Ow, ow, ow…!”
Kaede gripped Horinochi’s wrist tightly and twisted it with a creak.
Horinochi’s face contorted in pain.
That was right—Kaede had unusually strong strength. I knew it well because she had grabbed my hand or dragged me around many times.
Just thinking about having my wrist twisted with that kind of force sent a chill down my spine. I felt a little sorry for Horinochi.
Unable to move her wrist at all, it twitched in spasms, and the metal bat fell from Horinochi’s hand, clattering across the floor.
Kaede finally released the wrist. At that instant, Horinochi put some distance between herself and Kaede.
“Hahaha, not bad, Nakajo Kaede. As expected of my rival, I suppose.”
“I’ve never once thought of you as a rival.”
So Horinochi claimed to be Kaede’s rival.
Horinochi’s wrist looked extremely painful, and her eyes were teary, but she still glared fiercely at Kaede.
A tense atmosphere flowed between them. They seemed to get along terribly.
“More than that, the all-school assembly is about to start, so could you behave yourself, Horinochi-san?”
“No way! Today, I’m settling this with you once and for all, Nakajo Kaede! The top of this school is me!!”
“I don’t want to; I’m busy enough as it is.”
“Shut up! Today, I’m beating you!”
“I have no reason to fight you.”
“I just don’t like you! You’re the student council president, top of the class in grades, athletically gifted, beautiful, perfectly proportioned, busty, the daughter of the Nakajo Group, the school’s darling, and busty— I can’t stand you!”
She said “busty” twice, this girl…
So it was just plain jealousy? Kaede did not seem to regard Horinochi at all, but Horinochi was unilaterally viewing her as a rival and picking fights.
Kaede had it rough in all sorts of ways.
“Die, you big-tits bitch!!!!!!”
Horinochi, with her intense grudge against bustiness, lunged at Kaede.
Kaede did not even twitch.
Snap!
“Guh!?”
Kaede delivered a flick to the forehead, hitting Horinochi square in the face.
—
Thud!!
“Guha!?”
The moment Horinochi flinched, Kaede’s elbow strike plunged into her solar plexus.
Horinochi collapsed and did not move. She bubbled at the mouth and twitched in spasms. There was no response; she looked just like a corpse.
Horinochi had seemed plenty scary and strong, but Kaede took her down in an instant without moving a step.
Kaede was super strong. Cool. It seemed like my past self had saved an incredible girl.
“Ryoma-kun, are you okay?”
“I’m totally fine, but what is with this girl…”
“This girl is Horinochi Riria from Class 2-B; she’s in the same class as me, technically.”
So Kaede’s class was 2-B; that was the first I had learned of it. It would not hurt to remember. And this Horinochi was in the same class too. Having someone with that much hostility in the same class must be really tough.
“Horinochi-san comes from a reasonably good family, but compared to the Nakajo Group, she’s leagues below.”
Well, comparing anyone to the Nakajo Group was just bad luck for them. She looked like a pure delinquent to me, but it seemed there were all sorts of ladies, even among the elite.
“Well, let’s leave Horinochi-san somewhere she won’t be in the way and start the all-school assembly.”
With that, Kaede grabbed Horinochi by the collar and tossed her into the corner of the gymnasium. The handling was rough.
Horinochi was completely reduced to a stepping stone. Poor thing…
And then, right before the all-school assembly began.
All the students had gathered, and most of them sat quietly, facing forward. There were girls like Horinochi, but as expected of daughters from good families, they were incredibly well-behaved.
As for where I should be, following Kaede’s instructions had led to the unexpected spot of the stage.
Pipe chairs lined up on the stage, where the student council officers apparently sat.
But I was not part of the student council. Why was I in a position alongside them?
I stood out way too much. It made me even more susceptible to the cold stares from the students.
Currently on the stage stood the student council—and me. I felt utterly out of place.
Kaede directed a kind smile at me, but the other student council members did not even glance my way. They had no interest, I supposed. Without Kaede there, a nauseating tension filled the gymnasium. I wanted to go home.
No helping it; it seemed I had no choice but to sit here, so I tried to take the pipe chair at the very end.
“Ah, no, Ryoma-kun. That’s not your seat.”
Kaede’s words made me stop my hips mid-lowering.
“Your seat is here, right here.”
The seat Kaede pointed to was…
A massage chair.
Why? Why was there a massage chair at the all-school assembly?
Among the lined-up pipe chairs, there was inexplicably just one massage chair, and she urged me to sit there. It made no sense.
“Why a massage chair…?”
“I can’t have you sitting in a hard chair, Ryoma-kun. I wanted to provide you with comfortable seating.”
…It was probably Kaede’s kindness, but this mysterious preferential treatment was fueling the students’ discontent.
I already stood out just for being a guy; please do not make me stand out any more. A rickety pipe chair at the end would have been plenty for me.
“Kaede, a regular chair would be fine…”
“No. This is your chair, Ryoma-kun. Listen to me; you’re my pet, aren’t you?”
Kaede fixed me with an immovable gaze, and I thought, I cannot win against this.
