Chassu~/Paisen and Angel Senpai/Junior-chan’s misunderstanding
Suddenly, I heard a familiar girl’s voice.
I immediately turned my attention to her, both me and Tsukino were frozen in surprise to see her.
There she was, standing calling out to me…
“Ya… Yarihara?”
“Chassu~ It might be fate that we run into each other outside of school ☆ “
(Chassu is a slang word for Hi or Hello. It’s like Heya or What’s up.)
The girl who talked to me in a light voice tone is a junior whom both me and Tsukino know very well—she is a junior from the student council, Yarihara.
Yarihara wasn’t dressed in her school uniform as I usually see her at school, but she was tightly dressed in a casual shirt and apron.
Don’t tell me…
“Could it be… Yarihara is working here!?”
“Actually, that’s right! How is it senpais? Take a good look at my uniform, it looks really good on me, right? You can tell me your honest compliments about it.”
Come to think about it, there was a time when this café is really popular among the student council, it’s because they know the Moon Angel loves to go this café. Could it be that Yarihara knew about this café because everyone in the student council was talking about it…?
“But I didn’t expect Paisen and Tsukino-senpai to come here and play with cats together. Well, thinking about it, they are childhood friends after all, it’s natural for them to be together in holidays.”
“Well, that’s umm…”
“Oh, that’s right, I’m still working now, I’m not allowed to talk so much. I’m taking a break in a few minutes, so wait for me okay?”
“Hey! Wait…!”
I was in trouble, I’m sure Yarihara thought that me and Tsukino went there just to hang out.
When I looked at Tsukino, she was petting the cat on her lap with her usual expressionless face.
“Hahaha… I’m sorry. Today should’ve been a special day with Tsukino. Should I go explain to Yarihara about it?”
“…nope, it’s fine.”
Tsukino looked really calm.
“I don’t mind if Yarihara finds out about us. She went out of her way to talk to us, and I honestly think she’s a kind junior.”
“…r-really? You’re not angry or anything?”
“No, I’m not angry or anything. I would be more than happy to have a chat with Yarihara-san, and then…”
Tsukino smiled sweetly to me.
“As I said before, this is not my first and last date with Yuto.”
“…I see, that’s good then.”
Then I returned to my seat. After a while, Yarihara showed up and said ‘Otsukaredesu’.
(Otsukaredesu is a Japanese phrase that means great job. They usually say Otsukaredesu after working.)
“I’m surprised Yarihara took a part time job while she is in the student council organisation.”
“I only work here like once a week or so, it’s not like I work here every day. But you see, cat café sounds really fun, doesn’t it? I get to work and play with cats at the same time.”
Then Yarihara quickly pulled out her phone.
“I’m also in charge in advertising this café you know? I’m in charge to manage this account.”
When I looked into her phone, there was a picture of a cat lounging on a sofa posted on a social media account called ‘Neko Koneko’.
It has some hashtags on the post such as,
#MishaToday
#BestCat
#CatLovers
#TooCute
#CatLoverNetwork
I could tell at a glance that post was written by Yarihara…
Tsukino muttered to herself.
“…cute.”
“I know right? Don’t you just want to scratch her belly?”
Tsukino strongly nodded at Yarihara’s words. It was like they were connected through cats.
“Yarihara-san, I really like it… How much do you pay for it?”
“Eh… No, no. Rather, I get paid for it you know? This is my job.”
“Ehhh—a dream job to take pictures of cats and get paid hourly for it?”
Tsukino was speechless. Was she really that shocked…?
“If you want, why don’t you try to work part-time here, Tsukino-senpai? I’ll introduce you to the manager.”
“…are you sure it’s okay?”
“Of course! It’s a request from the student council’s moon angel, I’ll do my best for it.”
“But Tsukino, you know working in a café means you have to serve customers, right? Are you sure you can smile and talk to strangers?”
“…maybe I can do it if Yuto is by my side. Will Yuto work here together with me?”
“Why is that? I’m sorry, but I can’t work here, I have chores to do.”
“I see… Then I’ll give up working part time here.”
Alright, that was resolved peacefully.
As I was about to drink my coffee peacefully,
“It’s true, Paisen and senpai are always together! You’ve known each other since childhood.”
Yarihara said with an amused smile on her face.
“I’m kind of jealous of Tsukino-senpai. Ahh, I wish I have a boy childhood friend and fool around with him all the time.”
“… are you really jealous of me? I’ve been with Yuto for a long time, so I don’t really understand.”
“Yes I am~ It’s really nice to go to a cat café with a childhood friend like this, it’s like a privilege to come here casually with a childhood friend.”
“Well, umm… Yarihara, you’ve got it all wrong.”
Perhaps the sooner the misunderstanding was cleared up, the better it was.
Me and Tsukino weren’t there just because we are childhood friends.
I glanced at Tsukino with the corner of my eye and Tsukino nodded at me.
“…? About what?”
“Yarihara thinks me and Tsukino come to this café because we are childhood friends, right?”
“Isn’t that true? Everyone in the student council knows that you two are good friends.”
“Yes indeed it’s true. But that isn’t what is happening now.”
I took a deep breath a said it clearly.
“Me and Tsukino—we’re here on a date.”
“………..eh?”
