Tsukino and Her Keyboard/Child Yuto/Reconciliation
When I mentioned Tsukino has an electric keyboard.
Both Tsukino and Hinata turned at me in surprise.
“Eh, is that so? I’ve never heard Tsukino played piano before.”
“Yeah, come to think of it, I think I still have it. Yuto, how do you know I have one?”
“Well Tsukino used to take piano lessons, right? You even played some songs for me on your electric keyboard.”
“Yeah, we were in middle school then… but it was only for a few months. Even I had forgotten about it, but you remembered it all.”
“Is it really that surprising? I can remember it like it just happened yesterday, the usual expressionless Tsukino playing ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’ happily.”
At that time, Tsukino smiled and laughed happily every time I complemented her on how great she was.
“I see. It’s fine, you can borrow my electric keyboard. I think I still have it in my storage room.”
“Is it really okay? It’s Tsukino’s personal belonging.”
“It’s better to be played than be kept in my storage room. In fact, I’d like to thank Yuto for reminding me of it.”
“…that’s right, Yuto and Tsukino have been together since you guys were kids.”
“Yeah, I’m sure you’ve heard this, but Yuto is much cuter when he is a child, you know?”
At that exact moment, Hinata’s face seems to be brightened up.
“Really!? What kind of boy Yuto was when he is a child?”
“Wait, Hinata…”
“He is like a clumsy but heroic boy.”
Tsukino said so with a gentle expression on her face, it’s as if she is talking about something really precious to her.
“He was the kind of boy who couldn’t leave someone in need, but he tried to help people more than he should had. Sometimes when he sees an elderly person who can’t cross the street at their own, Yuto would help them to cross the street and then ride the bus with them until they got home safely. There was a time when he took a bus to the next town to take an elderly person home.”
“Wow, that’s so typical of Yuto.”
Hinata, I’m happy you’re impressed in me, but I was just an idiot who loves to help people.
“Yuto, you always say that, don’t you? You always say that you want to be just like your mother. When you wrote about your future dream in an essay, you wrote that you want to be the kindest person in the universe.”
“What are you talking about!? I wrote that when I was six years old!”
I don’t really want to talk about my middle school days too much… I was trying my best to be my ideal self back then, but looking back, I may have done a lot of foolish things.
It seems that Hinata is deeply moved with my nostalgic memories.
“I see. Then Yuto, you have fulfilled your dream.”
“My dream?”
“I don’t know anyone who works as hard for the student council as you do. Everyone in the student council don’t want to do service work, but you volunteered yourself and took care of the younger students, right? You see, you have fulfilled your dream to be the kindest person in the universe.”
“…that’s not true. I’m not even close to be as strong and kind as my mother. “
“Is that so? But from my perspective, Yuto is kinder than anyone else. Yuto is the kindest person in the world.”
“Hinata, aren’t you casually opening my old wounds…?”
“I think so as well. But I really think you of a hero Yuto.”
“Even Tsukino!? Is there anyone on my side here…?”
Both Hinata and Tsukino chuckled at my words.
Yeah, this is fine. The atmosphere was really heavy earlier, but it seems that it has gone back to normal now.
“Oh yeah, I haven’t served you a drink yet Tsukino. Can you wait a while I prepare it?”
“I’ll get it for you, I’m sure you are really busy with your work.”
“It’s fine, Tsukino-chan is here today. Tsukino-chan prefers sweet drinks, right? What about hot cocoa?”
“That sounds great, thank you Hinata-san.”
Hinata smiles at Tsukino who is bowing at her as she heads to the kitchen.
Then, Tsukino approaches me and whisper to my ear.
“I’m sorry I got mad at you earlier. Yuto seemed really shocked that Hinata-san might have a boyfriend, so I got a little jealous.”
“N-No, no, I’m the one who should apologize.”
I actually feel embarrassed for a moment, but I shook off my hesitation and speak up.
“I wasn’t lying when I say I want face Tsukino as a girl, not just as a childhood friend. That is the only thing I want you to believe.”
“Then it doesn’t matter if Hinata-san has a boyfriend, right?”
“………”
“Liar.”
“I’m not lying! That’s a completely different matter!”
Does this mean we have made up in the meantime…?
