Tsukino and Hinata/Feelings of a Childhood Friend/It Tastes Weird
While I was cooking in the kitchen, I casually asked Tsukino a question.
“By the way, I’ve been cooking your dinner for a while now, is Tsukino still learning how to cook?”
“Yes, I’m still learning how to cook. The other day I made pasta with ground beef. I even added one more can of tomatoes than usual.”
“Are you sure you didn’t add too much tomato to the sauce… Is there anything else you want to learn?”
“I think I’m taking a break now. I can only cook that dish and now I want Yuto to cook whatever he likes now.”
Hmm, I may have taken care of Tsukino a little too much. It’s a bit of a shame, I really want her to become a better cook.
But that doesn’t give me the right to refuse Tsukino’s request.
I had promised Tsukino that I would never refuse any of her requests until the day she confesses her feelings to me again.
‘—I have loved you for a long, long time.’
“What’s wrong? You can’t just stand there with a knife in your hand, it’s dangerous, okay?”
“Eh!? O-Oh, yeah. My bad.”
I just couldn’t get over the confession Tsukino made at that time.
I never realized how agitating it is to be told that I’ve been liked by someone I have always been with.
I wonder if that was how Hinata felt when I confess my feelings to her.
Thinking to that point, I suddenly remembered something I had wondered about for a while before.
I wondered what Tsukino thinks of Hinata.
I asked Tsukino a question as natural as I could while I was cooking in the kitchen.
“I wanted to cook mushroom hotpot today because I enjoyed the mushroom dish Hinata cooked for me the other day.”
“I’ve been wondering if Hinata-san is cooking dinner for Yuto lately. Hinata-san is a good cook, isn’t she? I always eat bread for lunch, but Hinata-san once offered me to share her bento with me because she said it would be an unbalanced diet if I only eat bread for lunch. Hinata-san’s bento was really delicious.”
Tsukino who was talking about Hinata, seemed rather normal.
Therefore, I thought it was okay to ask Tsukino about Hinata.
“You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to, but what does Tsukino think of Hinata?”
“…are you worried that I might hate Hinata because I confessed my love to Yuto but he still can’t forget his first love for Hinata-san?”
Tsukino was exactly right.
Tsukino smiled at me and said.
“I like Hinata-san. She’s serious, hardworking, and kind. I think nobody deserves the student council president position more than Hinata-san. But I also envy her.”
“Really?”
“It’s because Hinata-san is Yuto’s first love. But I can understand why Yuto likes Hinata. Every high school boy would love a girl like that. There was a time when I wanted to be like Hinata-san. …but I don’t feel that way anymore. Just as Hinata-san is special to Yuto, I am also special to Yuto.”
Gently, Tsukino walked up to me.
“Because Yuto promised me that he will not refuse any of my requests. I seriously think that I am the luckiest person in the world. I’m being spoiled by the person I love so much, how can I not consider myself the luckiest person in the world?”
“…I-I see.”
Tsukino could say she loves me in such straight expression.
I couldn’t help but to find myself blushing.
“Yuto, you are embarrassed, you are blushing. It’s the first time you’ve been like this in front of me.”
“Well, I guess It’s because we’re childhood friends.”
“I’ve been with you since I was a little girl, and you never even think of me as a girl.”
I wouldn’t go that far, but it is true that I have never consider Tsukino as a potential partner. I thought of Tsukino as my family member, maybe partly because we are next door neighbours.
“I am so tickled because Yuto is embarrassed by my words and gestures. I’ve always like you since I was a little girl, but for all this time Yuto and I have only been childhood friends.”
“…w-what’s up with that. Ever since Tsukino confessed to me, she has always been telling me how she feels bluntly to me. I’m kind of nervous about it.”
“It’s because every time I say ‘I love you’ to Yuto, his heart will beat really fast, and it is kind of exciting to see him like that.”
“Of course, you would do such a thing. But I didn’t think Tsukino is the type that can be so aggressive in love.”
“I guess it’s because I’ve been holding back my feelings to Yuto for a long time. I’m going to say I like you again and again because I couldn’t say it before, so be prepared, okay?”
If everyone in the student council knows the mysterious moon angel said such words, the entire student council would be astonished. Yarihara might even say that the moon angel was out of her mind or something.
But I was just as surprised.
I hoped that I could continue my relationship with Tsukino even after we graduate and become adults. But I never thought the day that I could spoil Tsukino like that would come.
Right now, Tsukino isn’t just my childhood friend, but she is also a girl who likes me—In that case, I should face Tsukino’s feelings properly.
Not as a childhood friend, but as a boy she is in love with.
I even wondered to myself… What do I think of Tsukino.
“Tsu~”
Just as I was about to get stuck in my thoughts, I felt pain on my fingertips that brought me back to myself.
I did it… Because I was in a daze, I accidently cut my finger while I was emptying a can of mackerel. Fortunately, I didn’t drop any blood on the food, but I couldn’t stop the bleeding.
“Ah… A-Are you okay? Are you bleeding?”
“It’s fine. It’s just a small cut. It happens sometimes. You should be careful when you use canned food for cooking Tsukino.”
“W-We got to stop the bleeding. It could get infected…!”
Tsukino panicked as if it was her own finger bleeding. Ahh, I see. Tsukino had cut her finger badly before when she was little, because of it she isn’t good at these situations.
“I can’t believe how flustered you are right now when you were enjoying my reaction earlier. Hahaha.”
“T-This is not time to laugh, okay? Look, there’s blood…!”
Indeed, I was bleeding so much that I almost dripping blood. Just before I about to put my hand on the faucet to clean the blood on my finger. Tsukino grabbed my injured hand.
I’m sure she did that because she was so focused to stop the bleeding.
Tsukino took my injured finger and put it in her mouth.
“Hmm—!”
“…Tsu-Tsukino?”
The sight of Tsukino putting my finger in her mouth almost made my mind go blank.
The softness of Tsukino’s lips on my fingers, the feel of her tongue licking the wound on my fingertips. I think my heart had stopped for a moment.
Eventually, Tsukino slowly removes my hand from her mouth.
“…it tastes weird.”
“…yeah, I bet. You just licked my blood. Why don’t we just use the tap to clean the blood from my finger? We’re in a kitchen anyway.”
“…oh, you’re right.”
I knew it, she just naturally did it without thinking ahead.
“But I was a little nervous because it was the first time I had ever licked Yuto’s finger.”
“I’ve never had anyone licked my finger before as well.”
“That’s good then. We both experienced it for the first time.”
Tsukino chuckled.
After all, something has been wrong with me since the day Tsukino confessed her feelings to me. Usually, I won’t be bothered by Tsukino’s smile.
But for some reason, my heart was beating really hard.
