Childhood Friend/Just the Two of Us in The Student Council Room/It’s Not a Lie Right?
For a moment, everyone in the student council turned their attention to the female student standing at the door.
Her hair is very beautiful, it almost reached her shoulders. Her jewel like eyes had a mysterious glow in it. Her expressionless face gave the innocent but mysterious image.
It was a girl who looked like an exquisite Western doll – Tsukino Saya.
“…”
Tsukino bowed to the rest of the student council with an expressionless face.
At first, Tsukino seemed to be unfriendly, but the others didn’t seem to mind. They understand that this lack of emotional expression is Tsukino’s normal behavior.
“Look, Pai-sen, speak of the devil! The Moon Angel is here, right?”
“Eh, so the moon angel is Tsukino?”
“You see, Tsukino-senpai is kind of innocent and mysterious, isn’t she? She’s as fantastic as the moon and as cute as an angel.”
“…Hmm, I don’t know. I won’t disagree that she’s cute, but I don’t get the fantastic part. I think Tsukino is more like a friendly girl.”
Well, I guess I can’t help but feel a certain way about it.
Because Tsukino is my childhood friend.
As we passed each other, I greeted Tsukino lightly.
“Good work. Let’s do our best today.”
“…right, good work Yuto, and you too Yarihara-san. Let’s do our best.”
With a blank expression, Tsukino sat down in her seat. The female junior next to her glanced at Tsukino shyly.
“You know, she’s probably a fan of Tsukino-senpai. Tsukino-senpai is popular not only among boys but also among girls. She’s like a doll. There’s a cuteness about her that makes you want to look at her all the time.”
It’s true, since I was in junior high school, my friends had been saying to me, “I envy you for being Tsukino’s childhood friend.” My friends seemed to think that most girls our age looked childish, they preferred a quiet, graceful girl like Tsukino.
“Tsukino-senpai is very popular, you know? I asked all the boys I knew, ‘Which student council member would you like to go out with besides president Hinata?’ they all answered Tsukino senpai”
“I don’t know you were having a questionnaire… Besides, your questionnaire isn’t complete. You said you asked all of the boys, but I don’t recall you asking me.”
“…? I don’t have to ask pai-sen. Because pai-sen will surely answer Hinata senpai”
“Oh, I just remembered today is the special sale day at the supermarket! I shouldn’t forget to buy some eggs!”
This junior was just messing around with her senpai.
“Well, it’s time to start the student council meeting. Everyone, please take your seats.”
At the sound of Hinata’s voice, everyone in the student council began to take their seats.
All of them looked at Hinata and Tsukino, who were in the president’s and vice president’s seat.
“Now, we will begin the student council meeting for the tenth of October. Tsukino-san, please do.”
“Right. This is the time of year when colds and diseases start to spread, so every year the student council makes posters to promote precaution of catching cold. For that reason, the poster will be based on last year’s format–”
With Tsukino’s careful explanations and Hinata’s excellent assistance, things proceeded without a hitch.
However, since the big event was still to come, the student council meeting was over in no time.
“Then we’ll be putting up the posters that we made next week. Thank you all for your time today.”
After Hinata wrapped up the meeting, the student council room began to be noisy.
I wondered if I should ask someone else about the issue regarding Sagawa-senpai.
“Hey, Yuto. Do you have a minute?”
For a moment, my heart skipped a beat. It was Hinata.
It’s okay. Let’s just calm down. It’s just the same as always.
“Yeah, what’s up?”
“I’m thinking of changing the content of the poster a little bit from last year. Since you are our secretary, I was wondering if you could give me some advice.”
“What, me? All right, I’ll help you. I’ll help you. Can’t help it if the president asked me to.”
“Really? Thanks, I’m so lucky to have a good secretary.”
Hinata smiled and turned on her computer, which was set up in the student council room.
While Hinata was turning on her computer, Yarihara secretly poked me in the side and whispered.
“Hey, Pai-sen looks like it’s good chance, right?”
“…she said that she only asked me because I’m the secretary. This doesn’t mean anything special.”
“You’re such a pessimist person pai-sen. Well, I wish you good luck.”
After Yarihara left with her parting words, Hinata and I were the only ones left in the student council room. Everyone else seemed to have gone home.
I turned my sight at the monitor, trying to look normal. When I saw the layout of the poster, I couldn’t help but to be amazed.
“Regarding the procedure for subsidizing the flu shots… I don’t recall something like this was on last year’s poster. Maybe this is what were you talking about?”
“Yes, I made changes. If the student council apply for the vaccination, we will get a discount, I think it will be a good thing, since there will be a number of people who will forget to get vaccinated. Especially for our seniors who are preparing for entrance exams, it would be terrible if they were to fall ill during such an important time.”
Hinata went through all that trouble to think about it? It’s not like anyone asked you to.
“…What can I say, Hinata is considerate as ever.”
“Hmm. I feel like I’ve been made fun of there.”
“I’m genuinely impressed. No one would complain about the same procedure as last year, but you’re still trying to improve it.”
“I think it’s because I’m the president. I feel like that I have to work hard.”
It’s because of this Hinata was able to become the student council president.
Hinata is kind to everyone, which is why there are so many people around her, and everyone trusts her as well. She is the sunflower goddess, just as Yarihara said.
That’s the reason why – I fell in love with Hinata as well.
But I’m not the only one who fell in love with Hinata. Just a few days ago, Sagawa-senpai confessed his feelings to her.
…
“Speaking of which. I heard a rumor that Hinata was confessed by Sagawa-senpai.”
“Wh-what? Yuto, you know about it…?”
“Well, I have a junior who likes to gossip. So, I was wondering what Hinata said to Sagawa-senpai.”
“…are you that concerned about whether me and Sagawa-senpai are dating?”
With a snap. I was petrified like a stone statue.
But that only lasted a moment, as I worked on the computer, I tried to change the topic of the conversation.
“No, it’s not like that. It’s just that Yarihara was really curious about it, so I thought I’d tell her later. You don’t need to tell me if you don’t want to talk about it”
“Oh, I see. Well…”
I continued to type on the keyboard while listening to Hinata’s embarrassed voice.
“I said no, I’m sorry. So, there’s nothing between me and Sagawa-senpai, okay?”
“Hmm, I see.”
If I had been a little bit more careless, I think I would have gutted myself with all my might.
I’m so relieved. Oh, thank God, Hinata rejected Sagawa-senpai’s confession.
“Do you think that maybe I’d go out with Sagawa-senpai?”
“…A little bit maybe. Sagawa-senpai is a popular guy, and I thought he might be a good match for Hinata, and it’s not surprising that Hinata has a boyfriend.
“…No, I can’t go out with someone that easily.”
She looked away as if to hide her embarrassment, and spoke softly.
“I don’t want to be in a relationship with someone I don’t like. If I’m going to be in a relationship for the first time, it should be with someone that I like.”
“…ah, I see”
Her words were so pure that it made her blush.
“Oh, my God! This conversation is over! Let’s get back to work, shall we?”
“I wish you didn’t tell me rather than embarrass yourself…”
“That’s because Yuto asked me… you thought it’s not strange that I have a boyfriend. That’s why I thought I should explain it properly…”
So that’s why you told me, even if you are embarrassed to say it. You’re too serious, our student council president.
“Besides, I told you because it’s you who asked. I trust you more than anyone else.”
“That’s an exaggeration. I’m not an important person.”
“You’re wrong. I’ve been together with Yuto since we were freshmen. I’ve been relying on you as my secretary and you’re very important to me.”
“…Oh, I see. Well, if that’s what Hinata says, I’m glad.”
I can’t make proper eye contact with her. My heart was throbbing.
“If that’s the case, I’ll have to do my best to support Hinata. I’m a worthless classmate, but please take care of me.”
“…yeah, okay then.”
This was the end of the issue. The little commotion of Sagawa senpai’s confession to Hinata would come to an end, and it would be back as usual again.
…but.
The moment I said that, Hinata’s sorrowful look on her face left an unforgettable mark in my heart.
