Chapter 66 – Light Novel Author End [Korisho’s POV]
[Korisho’s POV]
Was my love a misunderstanding? Kasui-san came to see me with cosplay photos that were supposed to be sent to him. According to Kasui-san, he didn’t rejoice at seeing my cosplay outfit but misunderstood it as research material.
But that wasn’t what I intended. It was an act I did thinking he would be happy with.
“Korisho-sensei. I’m sorry, but you won’t be able to meet with the illustrator String-san from now on.”
“Why?”
“It’s his personal information, so I can’t say much, but String-san is involved with another woman.”
“What! Is he being tricked?!”
“No. What kind of thought process would lead to that? I thought about Korisho-sensei in my own way. But I can tell you this. Just because String-san is kind towards Korisho-sensei doesn’t mean he’s in love with Sensei.”
“Whaa!”
What!! That man was so kind to me.
In other words, we’re in a relationship, and he should have been happy to see my cosplay.
“It’s all Korisho-sensei’s delusion.”
“No way!!”
“…I don’t want to make any definitive statements either. So, let’s do it this way. We can’t meet String-san until the book comes out. If String-san contacts me even once to meet Korisho-sensei during that time, I’ll admit it’s my loss. But if we don’t hear anything from String-san, then it was a mistake in Korisho-sensei’s judgment. Of course, Korisho-sensei is not allowed to force him to ask for a meeting.”
String-san likes me, so he should want to meet me soon.
In that case, it’s as good as my victory.
“Okay. When will the book come out?”
“String-san is a fast illustrator, so the illustrations are almost complete. Proofreading has been done twice. The book will be completed as a physical copy in about two weeks. It will be released in about a month. So, how about waiting for a contact within a month?”
“Okay.”
One month is way too long, but…
Fufu, String-san will ask to meet me right away.
Or so I thought.
A week has passed and I still haven’t heard anything from him.
Ah, right. It’s because String-san doesn’t have my contact information.
I asked Kasui-san to tell String-san my contact information. But she refused, saying that it was not possible. But Kasui-san she’d give it to String-san if he asked.
Another two weeks passed and I still haven’t heard anything.
So, I searched for String-san.
However, the only place I could find him was on Pixiv, which I already checked last time.
It seems like I can send a DM, but is it okay to do so? Actually, I don’t know what to send.
I wanna see you? Why haven’t you contacted me? We’re both lovers and like each other, right?
After three weeks, I couldn’t resist and sent him a DM.
[Why haven’t you asked to meet me? I want to meet you! I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you!]
I was so overcome with emotion that I wrote down what I was thinking and sent him a DM.
The next day, I received a call from Kasui-san.
“It looks like you couldn’t keep your promise.”
“…Why hasn’t String-san contacted me?”
“I have received a thorough reply from String-san.”
“I’m glad that Korisho-sensei thinks of me that way. However, I have a woman that I have my heart set on. Therefore, I cannot respond to Korisho-sensei’s feelings. I think this incident may be making it difficult for me to work. As soon as I finish this work, I will decline further illustration requests. I am happy to have been able to work with Korisho-sensei. Once again, thank you very much.”
After hearing what Kasui-san told me, I felt depressed.
I couldn’t stop the tears from overflowing.
I was heartbroken.
Furthermore, I lost the person who could draw the best illustrations…
“I’m sorry.”
When I spoke to Kasui-san, she let out a deep breath.
“No, I understand how you feel, Korisho-sensei. String-san was a wonderful man.”
“Yes.”
“Korisho-sensei.”
“Yes?”
“Though it’s not the best timing, we’ve decided to adapt Sensei’s novel for a manga adaptation.”
“Eh?”
“Sad news and good news may come at the same time. The manga adaptation will be handled by the popular manga artist, Ijichi-sensei. After seeing the illustrations, she said she’d be willing to draw this story. It’s a parting gift from String-san.”
I’m very happy about the manga adaptation.
If Ijichi-sensei, who is famous for drawing shoujo mangas, is in charge of the adaptation, it will definitely attract attention.
String-san’s present made me once again realize the feelings of gratitude and love for him.
He’s really a womanizer.
But I still like him.
Even so, I will continue to work.
I have to write the continuation of the best work he has done.
After all, I’m a writer.
