Chapter 49 – Light Novel Author 2 [Korisho’s POV]
[Korisho’s POV]
When I received the illustrations from the editor, I was so moved by the two rough sketches that I cried.
I was grateful that the illustrator was able to create the main character that suited the story from the materials I sent them.
So it’s true that I had high expectations, but the rough sketches that were sent to me this time exceeded my expectations.
I, as the author, understand better than anyone the difficulty of combining the protagonist’s pose and background to match my image.
But not only that, when I saw the second illustration, my heart tightened.
It was the scene where the main character was being condemned.
From the reader’s perspective, it might seem like a template scene. But it’s my protagonist being condemned.
Just seeing that, I feel a tightening in my chest.
I don’t know how to express the emotion of being able to see that illustrated and being moved to tears by it.
It’s an indescribable emotion that brings tears to my eyes.
Even though my protagonist has a regretful expression, she maintains a resolute attitude in this scene, expressing my feelings.
It’s expressed clearly as an illustration.
I looked at it over and over again and ended up crying.
“…Kasui-san. Thank you. I can’t ask for anything better. Please continue as it is. Please convey my regards to String-san!”
I suddenly thought that after I expressed my gratitude and impressions to Kasui-san, I could express my gratitude directly to String-san.
When I looked it up on the internet, it didn’t seem like he was using SNS much.
I started using Twitter when I became a light novel author.
There seem to be many illustrators on pixiv, so maybe I should try there?
With that in mind, I looked into it and found that there were about four illustrations posted.
Each one expressed different backgrounds and women, and I was moved by their beauty.
If such backgrounds were drawn for my work, it would be amazing.
“Ah, I can send a DM.”
Can I send it? Or would he prefer not to be contacted by the author?
“Maybe I should check with Kasui-san to be sure.”
I messaged Kasui-san asking if it would be okay to send a message to the illustrator, considering that I would like to meet once and convey my gratitude if possible.
“What!? Sensei wants to meet the illustrator? Hmm, I’ll ask him first.”
With excitement in my heart, I waited for the reply.
“The illustrator said it’s okay to meet.”
“Thank you very much!”
I felt surprisingly uplifted, so I dressed in my favorite outfit and headed to the agreed-upon location.
“Thank you for your hard work. Korisho-sensei.”
“Kasui-san. Thank you for setting things up today.”
“No, I’m glad I was able to help motivate Sensei.”
After waiting with Kasui-san for a while, a man approached us.
It was clear that he had dressed nicely for this meeting.
He wore a formal outfit, and his jacket and pants looked brand new.
Although he looked a little unreliable, he seemed like a kind person.
And he looked older than me.
But for some reason, every gesture of his seemed cute.
“Allow me to introduce our light novel author, Korisho-sensei.”
“Nice to meet you, I’m Korisho. Thank you very much for drawing such wonderful illustrations for me!”
I bowed deeply, and String-san smiled shyly.
“No, it’s my first time taking on a job like this, so I’m a bit nervous, but I’ll do my best to create something good. I’m String.”
Until now, he seemed like an unreliable person, but when he said he would do his best to draw for me, I could see the seriousness in his eyes and I felt a warmth in my heart.
“So, um, does Korisho-sensei always wear that costume to work? I think it suits her very well, and it looks cute.”
I could understand that he probably said it in the flow of the conversation.
But I felt a strange feeling of embarrassment and happiness, as if he could tell that I had put a lot of effort into today’s meeting.
“Korisho-sensei is what we call a Lolita fashion enthusiast. She’s known for her Gothic Lolita style and says she can concentrate better when writing with her unique makeup. Doesn’t she look great in it?”
As I blushed, Kasui-san explained for me.
“I see. I think it would be difficult to pull off an outfit like that, but Korisho-sensei looks great in it.”
Kyun!!!
It felt strange to have such feelings for an older, seemingly fatherly figure. But my chest feels warm, and I feel happy, as if he had accepted me.
My face is getting hot.
“Well then, let’s proceed as planned.”
I don’t remember what we talked about at all.
However, he was a very nice person.
I’m looking forward to him handling my work in the future.
He’s the best illustrator.
Even as he left, he bowed to us repeatedly.
“S-so, Korisho-sensei, how was it? You’re not…unhappy, are you?”
“No! On the contrary, I’m even more excited to have him draw for me after meeting him.”
“Oh, good! Then let’s continue as planned.”
“Yes! Thank you very much!”
I bowed deeply to Kasui-san and headed home myself. On the way, I suddenly stopped.
“Ah~, that person was really wonderful~. Fufu, I’m sure he likes me too, right? After all, he praised me! Fufu, we have to pledge our love to each other soon. Ah~ I can’t wait~”
I fantasized in my head, creating a scenario about having a wedding with the man I had just met.
