Chapter 39 – Saving Yet Another Girl
The editor who sent me a DM asked me to meet her, so we went to a nearby cafe.
“No, my name is Kasui and I am the editor.”
She was a lively female editor, and although she was petite, she had a lively atmosphere.
“Hello, I’m Himoda Youichi. Thank you for reaching out to me.”
“No, thank you very much for accepting my work request.”
“What kind of content is it?”
“Yes. This is what I’m talking about.”
I knew that light novels about another world were popular.
Personally, I would like to draw the female protagonist.
The content was in the genre of isekai romance, featuring a female protagonist as the villainess. I received the content as data on my computer.
“Wow, this is it!”
“It’s currently trending, and when I saw you draw female characters, I thought you’d be perfect for it!”
“Thank you. I don’t know if I can meet your request, but I would like to try.”
“Really?! Thank you! I thought you’d have a hard time making a decision!”
“Is that so?”
“Yes. The writer’s request is a bit…complicated.”
“Huh?”
Apart from the story data, when I opened the character design data that was sent to me, I saw various requests written at the beginning.
“Ah~, I see the writer has a lot of requests.”
“Haha.”
Kasui-san dryly chuckled, looking troubled.
“I’m not sure how much I can meet the expectations, but I’ll give it a try.”
“Please! I’m counting on you!”
Kasui-san seems like a nice person.
However, considering the strong preferences of the author, I was curious about how much I could actually do.
As I was about to pass through Shibuya in the evening, I turned into an alley.
“Please, stop it.”
“Come on, what’s the big deal? You’re here in a place like this, aren’t you here to have fun?”
A man was clearly bothering a girl who seemed uncomfortable.
Even if she wanted to run away, her arm was grabbed and she couldn’t seem to escape.
I guess passersby don’t want to get involved either.
Everyone is turning a blind eye.
I couldn’t see the girl’s face, but I remembered what happened when Sumire-san was being attacked, so I took a step forward.
“Please, let me go!!”
The girl let out a loud voice and swung her arm free.
Anger could be seen on the man’s face as he clicked his tongue.
There was a possibility that he might even resort to violence.
The girl stiffened with fear.
“You piece of…!”
“Kyaaa!?”
“Stop!”
The man’s fist swung down and hit me on the cheek.
Because I had moved to protect the girl, I ended up getting hit.
But this is fine.
“Oi! How dare you hit me! It’s self-defense now!”
“What the…?”
“What? You still want more? I called the police. You’ve already hit me, so they’ll arrest you for assault.”
“Tch! You piece of shit!”
Since it was still a time when people were passing by, the man backed off easily.
But, arghhh!!! It hurts!!!
Getting stabbed in my left arm hurts more, but getting hit in the face hurts too!
“Are you okay? He’s gone now.”
It was an uncool way of helping, but I’m glad I was able to help.
“You-nii?”
“Huh?”
There was only one person I knew who would call me “You-nii”.
I couldn’t see Yumi-san’s face in the dim light of the alley, but when we stepped into a brighter area, her face became clear.
“Yumi-san?”
“It’s really You-nii!!! T-thank you so much, You-nii! I’m glad that you came!”
When Yumi-san realized it was me, she hugged me.
“Huh, what? Ah, it was scary, wasn’t it?”
Unable to pull away from the anxious girl, I gently patted her on the back.
Unlike Sumire-san and Hazuki-san, Yumi-san doesn’t have as much volume, but she’s petite and fits perfectly in my arms. She’s so cute~
“Thank you! I was really scared!”
“Yeah… you did well. You’re safe now.”
Even in the alley, I felt it was bad to keep hugging the girl I just rescued, so I patted her on the back and urged her to let go.
“I’ll take you home if you like.”
“Really?”
“Yeah. If you’re worried about being alone at home, would you come to my house? I think you’ll feel safe because Sumire-san is there too.”
“Then let’s go to You-nii’s place!”
“Yeah. Let’s go.”
Yumi-san seemed anxious, so I decided to take her home.
I think I should ask Hazuki-san to pick her up by car later.
Since Yumi-san was feeling uneasy, I held her hand as we walked home.
“…Hey, You-nii?”
“Yeah? What’s wrong?”
“Back when you helped Onee-chan… No, it’s nothing.”
“Is that so?”
Yumi-san seemed like she wanted to say something, but she stopped herself mid-sentence, clutching her chest.
We then returned to my home along the road lit by the setting sun, where we were greeted by Sumire-san.
Yumi-san then told Sumire-san about what just happened.
Sumire-san hugged Yumi-san. It was a precious sight to see the sisters embracing each other.
“Youichi-san! Thank you for helping Yumi!”
“You-nii! Once again, thank you very much! I’m really grateful that You-nii came to help!”
“Oh, uh, yeah. I’m just glad you’re okay.”
The sisters sat on either side of me on the sofa and thanked me, but being sandwiched between the two of them made me nervous. They were both so close that my face felt hot.
