Chapter 20 – Black-Haired Beauty as the Model
Sumire-san listened to my wishes and decided to become my model.
She came to my workspace right away and posed for me.
I requested her to wear her usual maid outfit.
“W-why are you trying to undress?!”
“Eh? Isn’t the model naked?”
“No!”
She misunderstood and thought I wanted her to pose as a nude model.
“Just sitting in your maid outfit is enough for now.”
“Is that so? But won’t you need to see every detail of my body to draw accurately?”
“Currently, it’s just the sketching phase, and since I’m creating you as a character, it’s different from a regular life drawing! The details to that extent will be a combination of my imagination and your image.”
“I see”
After somehow convincing Sumire-san, I asked her to sit in her maid costume and started drawing her from the front.
Once the initial sketch was done, I moved to the side.
Next, I had her stand up and change poses a few times.
“It turns out modeling is quite challenging.”
During lunch, while eating the pasta lunch Sumire-san had prepared, she mentioned feeling tired from posing.
“I’m sorry! It was tough, wasn’t it?”
“No, I didn’t mean it that way, I just felt a little embarrassed because Youichi-san kept staring at me.”
“Huh?”
“What kind of costume do you want me to wear next?”
“Will you pose for me again?”
“Yes, of course. I understand you don’t need me to be naked, but if you want to see some details of my body, maybe something like a swimsuit?”
Why is she so excited? Of course I’m grateful.
I want to draw a picture of a beautiful woman.
Maids and swimsuits are definitely popular choices.
There are also many other options like Chinese dresses and cosplay.
“Well, first of all, I’m going to complete the maid costume character, finish coloring it, and then move on to the next drawing. Will you take a look at one when it’s finished?”
“Of course.”
Since I’m not drawing on paper, it’ll be properly saved as a record.
I immediately sat down at my computer and began creating a character based on the beautiful black-haired maid.
I felt a surge of inspiration like I’ve never felt before.
This may be the first time I’ve been so inspired.
Up until now, I have been working as an assistant specializing in backgrounds.
The setting is an aristocratic mansion, where the black-haired beauty, who serves as a maid, makes tea for me. Reincarnated protagonist is the current trend, and the story revolves around a devoted maid who makes tea for the protagonist.
“Whoa… I’ve never been this excited to draw!”
I started from a confident background, and the resulting picture is pretty good. I could only draw rough sketches in a day, but it’s amazing! It’s so much fun.
I might not have found drawing this enjoyable since my student days.
After entering art college, I’ve been busy with assignments, focusing solely on improving my skills.
But now it feels like I’ve returned to the time when drawing was just fun, regardless of technical or commercial concerns.
I never thought it would be so much fun to draw the interior of a mansion and the scene where a beautiful black-haired maid pours tea from a pot into a teacup using all the skills I’ve acquired up until now,
“Hah~”
“Youichi-san.”
“Eh?! I’m sorry! What is it?”
“Fufu, you were really concentrating.”
“I guess so.”
“Yes. It’s been about six hours since we had lunch, so I got worried because you hadn’t come out at all, so I peeked in a few times.”
“Ohh, I didn’t realize at all.”
“Fufufu.”
Sumire-san, wearing her usual maid outfit, approached and took a peek.
I’m not the type of person who feels embarrassed if people watch my progress, so if she wants to watch, it’s no problem.
“Wow~, it looks amazing!”
“Really? I got carried away and had a lot of fun drawing this.”
I’m currently drawing fine details with pencil-like lines in black and white.
Although it’s still in the draft stage, I think you can see it as a picture.
“Is this me?”
A maid pouring tea is in the center.
“Yes. I designed it with Sumire-san as the model.”
“Fufu, so Youichi-san sees me like this. It’s kind of embarrassing.”
“Is it no good?”
My chest tightened as I feel like something I’ve created is being evaluated. I wonder why? I feel that if my drawing gets degraded, I might not be able to recover.
Sumire-san hugged me from behind as I got anxious.
“Huh?”
“Youichi-san has amazing talent! It might be rude to say this to an older man, but I’m impressed that you can show talent at any age. Youichi-san is really amazing! I was really moved by the unfinished picture.”
She hugged me tightly and said words that warmed my heart.
When it comes to creative works, there’s always the anxiety that no one will acknowledge it.
However…
I’ve been recognized.
Someone has given me words that moved me first.
Even if other people deny it, I felt like I could strive for the rest of my life just with Sumire-san’s acknowledgement.
