I quietly nodded and then I stopped looking at Shikino’s eyes before I gently broached the subject.

“…I see… But why? Was there something that you didn’t like about him when you first started dating him? You know, about Sugisaki-kun?”

“…No. It’s not about liking or disliking him. I liked you, Onii-chan. You’re the only one in my heart. That’s why I never went that far with him.”

Then why did you date Sugisaki?

I scolded her, but Shikino looked even happier. Her cheeks softened into a gentle smile. Her breathing became labored and somehow the light in her eyes was beginning to fade. This was the dangerous version of Shikino that I had started to see recently.
