Chapter 98

Upon arriving at the Explorer Center, I changed in the usual locker room into my adventuring gear.

Once ready to dive into the dungeon, I stopped by reception to accept a quest. By doing this, it lets me earn not only the payout from monster cores but also additional rewards upon completion.

Since I had the whole day free to spend in the dungeon, the risk of not completing the quest—and getting a penalty—is quite low.

“Are you sure you’re okay with this?”

Ignoring the receptionist’s concerned look, I chose to take on the quest requiring me to subjugate ten ogres among the many quests enlisted in the center. It is meant to be a difficult job for a mid-tier adventurer to tackle solo.

Using my explorer card, I opened the iron door and set foot into the dungeon.

“The ogres start appearing on the eleventh floor huh… In that case, I should get through these lower floors as quickly as possible.”

Since lower floors are full of low-level monsters like slimes and goblins, which are barely worth the payout, I decided to avoid fighting as much as possible and raced through the dungeon, casting spells to boost my speed and regenerate my stamina alongside.

And as I did that, in sometime I came in front of the way to the 11th floor, the ogre’s habitat

“Alright, from now on the real hunt begins.”

I planned to prioritize taking down the 10 ogres first as in to avoid any chance of failing the quest.

Once I’d taken out my target of ten, I’d head even deeper to hunt down even stronger monsters. While doing too much could attract attention, I had no choice if I wanted to make enough money quickly to ensure my sister’s safety.

Just as I was about to set my plan into motion—

“Aaaaahhhhhhhh!!”

A scream echoed from deep within the dungeon.

“–––!”

From the tone alone, I instinctively knew someone was in serious danger.

Before I knew it, my body had already moved.

Kicking off the ground, I sprinted in the direction of the scream.

“It seems that, every time I dive into the dungeon… this event start happening all so frequently .” I let out such grumble while running.

This kind of thing often happens when I dive into dungeons.

Even though today I wanted to use as much time as possible to defeat as many monsters as possible, but then again, I can’t just give up on them.

In order to save the lives I can save, I used my acceleration skill and rushed immediately onto them.
