Chapter 37
“Haah… To think that Arimura had been watching me…”
Lunch break is over, and now it was time for the first PE class of the afternoon.
The event being basketball.
And at the court, we’re having an active game right now.
At the same time, the sound of dum-dum dribbling echoed throughout the gymnasium, and I was thinking about the conversation I had with Arimura just a few minutes ago.
“I am definitely going to make you beg to join my clan,”
Yes, that’s exactly what Arimura said.
It did not sound like she was joking, so probably she was serious about doing so.
Which is kind of creepy to be real.
I have no idea what she’s going to do.
Or rather, why is she so obsessed with me?
She did say that she saw me fighting with Hazard Boss, but that was at night.
Quite amazing for her to determine it was me in that low-light condition.
So she must have been observing at a very close range.
Even though I was concentrating on the fight, that was really careless of me not to notice that someone was observing me.
Sigh…
This is a serious pain in the as*.
Having become an intermediate-level Explorers, having just finally taken the first step toward getting out of the poverty-stricken life and yet, now I am involved into a trouble named Arimura.
Naturally, I have no intention of forming a clan with her.
I intend to work alone, without letting anyone know about my magic.
Forming allies is just out of the question.
I’m sure that a double like Arimura, is strong. And I’m sure she would be really useful as an asset, but from my point of view, she just feels like a liability.
No matter how powerful Arimura’s skills are, it is hard to believe that they would be effective against the final boss monster found at the bottom of a dungeon.
From whatever point of view I look at it, the best solution for me is to go it alone.
“The question is how to get Arimura to give up on me.”
The quickest way is to convince her that my skills are not that great.
The reason Arimura wants me in her clan is because she thinks that I have hidden talent/skill, but if I shatter that belief, she will immediately lose interest in me.
… However, that would be extremely difficult since she has already seen me fight the Hazard Boss.
With that in mind, I had to figure out how to get her to lose interest in me…
“Hey, ANDOU! It’s coming your way!!”
“Nn?”
As I was thinking about this while running around the court at random, a ball flew toward me.
I catch the ball with nimble hands and pass it to the nearest player.
“Sweet!! Thanks for that!!”
But as the ball was passed too slowly, it was cut off by the enemy team.
“I’m going to finish with this!”
The match was now in its final stages, and the score was down to one point difference.
The next shot would determine the game, and it seemed I had made a fatal blunder.
“Stupid Andou!!”
“What the **uk are you doing!!”
While my teammates were berating me, the student who had taken the ball from me jumped up from the middle of the court.
I wondered what he was thinking, but then his body floated up unnaturally and he shot it from an impossible altitude.
“Nn…?”
Clearly, this is not a height that an ordinary person can reach with a leap.
This is…
“Isn’t the use of skill against the rules?”
“With this, it’s over!”
The shot was released and fell into the ring as if getting sucked into it.
And the net shook with the pass, and the shot was taken.
“No, no, no, this is plain weird.”
“Haah. Shut it.”
I shouted in protest, but the guy who took the shot exhaled through his nose and went back to his defensive position.
“Hey, hey, hey, Ando! What the hell are you looking all dazed?”
“You’re the reason we lost! Take responsibility!”
“What were you even doing? Ando.”
And with that, my teammate blamed me, not the enemy team who cheated on with their skills.
Really, what is it with these guys?
