“Wow…Onii-chan, are we having meat for dinner tonight!”

“Yeah. That’s right. As I’ve successfully become an Explorer. It’s a little indulgence to celebrate the success.”

“I–Its been months …we are having meat you know….”

“From now on, we maybe having that almost every day too you know?”

Looking at the meat being lined up in the kitchen table for the first time in months. Miku gulped up her saliva.

Meat is an ingredient considered as luxury after all. I wonder it’s been how many years for me to see meat being lined up in my own home. Although it was just some cheap pig-meat; for us it was no less a luxury.

Truthfully speaking, I really want my younger sister to eat more protein as she is in her growing stage…

Until now, we’ve been getting by with some cheap-off fish such as swordfish and horse mackerel.

But from now on, it’s all going to be different.

Now that I’m an intermediate-level explorer, I should make a target be able to earn enough money to have yakiniku every day.

And, today is just a boost for that higher motive for me.

“Wait patiently a little longer, it will soon be ready.”

Miku, who seemed like she couldn’t wait to have a taste of that meat was constantly looking at the frying pan cooking the meat.

I smiled as I cooked the meat carefully and well so that it would not get burnt.

“A Monster Hazard!?”

Miku screams out loud.

Monster hazard.

It refers to a disaster in which monsters overflow from the dungeon area to the surface above.

Normally, monsters rarely venture outside of dungeons sealed by solid doors, but occasionally a monster powerful enough to break through a steel door will appear and destroy the door, allowing other monsters to escape.

When this happens, an announcement is immediately made to the neighboring community, and intermediate adventurers are required by law to exterminate the monsters and assist in the evacuation of the people.

In other words, as an intermediate adventurer today, I, too, must go to exterminate the monsters.

“Miku, I, must go as well.”

I stop cooking, take off my apron, and leave the apartment.

“No!! Please! Don’t go!”

Miku hugged me tightly from behind.

“O–Onii-chan just became an intermediate adventurer today, you know!? It’s really dangerous!! Please, Please don’t go!!”

“B–But …I am being bound by the law, you know? If I break it, there will naturally be penalties as well. I could even lose my Explorer’s license.”

“B …But..! Onii-chan doesn’t have much experience with fighting monsters…! You can even die! So, even if Onii-chan doesn’t go today, people won’t blame you for it! So please…”

“Miku! Please listen to me! Even as we speak, civilians who aren’t Explorers are being attacked out in the open! I promise I’ll come back to you! So, Miku!! Please let me go!!”

“NO!! I won’t let go of you!!”

Miku clung to me with all her might.

No matter how I tried to persuade her, she just wouldn’t let go.

“I’m sorry, Miku.”

Without any choice left to me, I cast a spell of sleep on Miku.

“Sleep.”

As if like a doll, Miku’s strength goes away and leans against me.
