Chapter 2: I Will Confine You

Cornering the stalker, I managed to trap her inside my house. Thinking about the situation calmly, I realized our situation was downright ridiculous, especially since my stalker turned out to be a girl for real. I realized the action I was taking was a bit extreme. However, I had been suffering too! I was followed by her everyday. I was never freed from the subtle tension of her gaze for a whole day and to top it all off, she liked to leave homemade meals at my front door (the meals were delicious though. I always ate them clean.)

I felt like it was about time for me to take drastic measures. I would need to respond to a dangerous person with equally dangerous actions. And so, I was thinking of confining the stalker in my house and giving her a firm lecture, but..

“Fueh…?”

In a room lit by dull electric lights. On a single bed I always used, there was a breathtakingly beautiful girl. She was sitting in a W-pose, the pose that girls often used. Her beauty made me question if this was reality or not. She was hugging my bed. Her cheeks seemed to be twitching a bit as she stared at me. It felt as if time had stopped. 

I had originally planned on launching a torrent of verbal attacks, but that resolve faded to nothingness, leaving me with my mouth half-open. I was captivated by her presence. Any passerby would be wondering what we were doing, since it looked like we were both in a daze. Well, I couldn’t help it. The stalker was just too cute.

Her long black hair, which was spilling from her cap, was shining beautifully thanks to the light from the room. At a first glance, she gave off the impression of a delicate beauty, but the two curves beneath her hoodie were large enough to be noticeable even through the thick hoodie. I had no idea what was happening anymore. A girl as adorable as her had been stalking someone like me? Really? Or maybe it was all just a big misunderstanding? If it was a misunderstanding, that meant I was the one committing a crime here. 

“Ah….”

“Eh…? Fu-eh…?”

I sighed, albeit a bit awkwardly, to try to cover up the awkwardness. On the other side, the stalker was still staring at me. She looked confused and I could see the sign of tears in her eyes. 

I didn’t know what to say. A lecture…? How should I lecture her…? Should I start with “Welcome!” or something? Or maybe… “Welcome to my house! Hehehehe…” No. If I smirked here, I would become the creep. I had to explain why I did this or I would be branded as a criminal. 

This is bad, this is bad, this is bad. 

“E-Excuse me…”

“Fuh… Fu-eh…”

“…Hm? Fu-eh…?”

Wha-What…?

“Fufuhehehe… Fufuhehehehe…”

Fo-For some reason, she started laughing…?  No, wait, I thought I was the one who was supposed to be laughing? My plan was a success! I should be the one laughing here!

“Sme-Smells so nice… This pillow… I-I-I-I-It has a very… Me-Me-Me-Mediocre… No. It has a very elegant scent to it… Fuhehehe….”

The beautiful girl was grinning awkwardly, causing cold sweat to break out on my body. In an instant, multiple thoughts raced through my mind. 

Without a doubt, this girl was my stalker. But still, if she was going to stalk someone, couldn’t she pick a more handsome guy? I really couldn’t fathom why she would choose someone like me. But, I knew one thing for sure. She was definitely my stalker. Yeah. Alright. 

“Excuse me… Can you be more specific? What part of it specifically that makes you think it smells good…?”

“Fue…? Sp-Specific…?”

“Yeah. I’d like to hear more about it. I’m a bit curious.”

I said flatly without any expression on my face. Seemingly happy that I was asking her to tell me in detail about the scent left on the pillow, she started talking with a grin on her face. Her breath quickened as she became more and more excited. 

“Fi-First of all, this is the very basic point, but I can really feel Monoda-kun’s scent in every fibre of it. It’s easy for me to imagine that this object is always by Monoda-kun’s ide when you sleep and well, I feel a bit jealous of this object. It’s like… Damn it! This pillow! But although I’m feeling a bit jealous, the scent seeping in this pillow is really alluring. I really like the scent left on this pillow… How should I say it? The scent itself is quite ordinary, but it’s like… This is definitely Monoda-kun’s cent… Haah… Haah.. But you see, I think the combination of the guilt and Monoda-kun’s scent is what makes it so exhilarating. It’s exquisite. I’d pay for this pillow. In fact, I’m ready to pay 50.000 yen for it. I will even buy you a new pillow, Monoda-kun!”

Someone said that when humans talked about something they really loved, their eyes would shine. The way her eyes sparkled as she talked about my pillow was really a mystery. Sure, her eyes were shining, but the light felt somewhat ominous. It was a murky glow, like her eyes were hiding something wicked within it.

This girl is definitely dangerous. 

For the time being, I was relieved to realize my actions wouldn’t be considered a crime. 

“…I see.”

“Uhehehe… Yes… Ah, right. Thank you for always eating the meals I make! When I ‘happened’ to see you at the supermarket, I always wondered whether you were getting proper nutrition in your body… I felt worried about your body and so… I started cooking for you. Nhehehe…”

The stalker was grinning happily. I decided it was time for me to call her out on her actions. 

“Happened? You’re lying, right? You’ve been stalking me, right? I know you didn’t happen to meet you. You actually followed me to the supermarket!”

“Ueh…?!?! Wha-Wha-What are you talking about?!”

“Sorry. I actually saw you sneaking around all the time, but  I was too scared to muster up the courage to talk to you back then.”

“Sc-Scared?!”

The beautiful stalker looked shocked for some reason. I continued on. 

“Did you put something weird in the meals you’ve been making for me? Tell me now! No more lies!”

“I-I would never do anything like that! I just want Monoda-kun to be healthy… I want to see you full of energy all the time… That’s why I made those meals for you. I swear, I didn’t put anything that would make you ill…”

“Alright. Let me rephrase my question. Did you put anything weird that wouldn’t harm my health?”

“…!”

The stalker twitched. 

This person… She really did put something in it, huh?

“No more lies. Tell me the truth.”

I reiterated and she flinched again.

“I’m sorry… I did put something in…”

“Okay. What was it?”

“W-w-well… Uh… Ugh…”

The stalker squeezed her eyes shut, her face turning bright red. Just what did she put in the food? I should prepare my heart so I wouldn’t be surprised no matter what she said. Usually people would put their blood, hair, or stuff like that. 

“I-I put in a little spell so Monoda-kun will like me…”

“…Huh?”

“I-I chanted, ‘Please like me~’ and then… I would pour my feelings into it every time…”

“….”

That… That was not what I was expecting. I thought she would put something more physical, like actual blood or something.

“U-Umm… Is that some sort of euphemism? By ‘spell’, do you actually mean blood or something?”

“I-I would never do that… I actually want to, but you know… A human might get an infection if they take someone else’s blood…”

“Yo-You’re really thinking about me, huh… Infections, huh…”

“Yes, like I’ve said many times, I just want to see Monoda-kun all healthy…”

“Ugh… I-I see…”

This is bad. 

That last line was really dangerous. Not to mention, those puppy-dog eyes of hers too. This person was a talker. She was a creep. I was supposed to lecture her, but my heart was racing. At this rate, I might actually fall for her. 

“I-I only came to this room because… I wanted to learn more about you, Monoda-kun… I want to check if there is anything else I could do for you. I-I-I didn’t have any weird intentions…”

“..I-I see.”

“I-It’s not like I was thinking of taking this opportunity to store a large amount of Monoda-ium into my body or anything like that…! Nothing of that sort! I-I was just thinking about you…”

“..!!”

“I-I…. Neiko Houno… I-I-I really lyke you, Monoda-kun… I-I wuv you…”

Blushing all the way to her ears, Houno-san confessed her feelings to me despite the stammering. I realized how simple I truly was. I found myself liking her the moment this adorable girl confessed her feelings to me. If I were to follow my true desire, I would say,’I like you too’ However, some odd form of asceticism… Or maybe, cowardice, took over my mind. If I were to simply say ‘I like you’ to Houno-san, wouldn’t she feel anxious? This was my first time meeting her. She might suspect I only liked her for her appearance. It was probably best for us to get to know each other better before I confessed my feelings. Yeah. That should be the right move. 

“I understand. Thank you. I’ve come to understand you better, Houno-san.”

“….Ye-Yeah…”

Houno-san nodded weakly. She was a stalker, but she was so incredibly adorable…

“That being said, we need to start by fixing your stalking tendency first.”

“Huh…?”

Caught off guard, the girl looked at me with a dumbfounded expression on her face. I cleared my throat before continuing. 

“I-I’m going to confine you in my house for one day, Houno-san. You are to stay in my house for one whole day and I want you to stop your habit of watching me.”

“….What…?”

“I-I will confine you here! I’m going to confine you! As for your confession… I-I’m happy to hear that, but I can’t possibly date someone who stalks me!”

“Fueeee…?!”

She looked like she was about to cry, but she quickly held her tears back and pondered for a moment. After she processed all of my words, specifically the word ‘confine’, she started to show me that creepy smile again. 

“I-In other words… I-I get to stay in Monoda-kun’s room all day long…?”

“Tha-That’s right! You have to stay in my room! You have to! Because I’m confining you here! You’re not allowed to open the door, okay?! Promise me!”

“Uhehehe… Uhehehehehehe…. Ye-Yesssh…”

Her face was anything but reluctant. In fact, she looked downright overjoyed. No, no. To be precise, she looked like she was up to no good. 

“Grr…”

Feeling a bit conflicted, I growled a bit. I was frustrated, but there was no going back now. Not after I had said all that. 

“I-It’s decided! You can go home for today, but tomorrow! You have to come to my house tomorrow morning! The confinement will start tomorrow! I will take care of your attendance card!”

“Ah… That might be a bit impossible…”

“Huh? Impossible?”

“I… I’m studying a different major from you, Monoda-kun. I’m in the Nutrition Department.”

“Wha-Wha-What?! Is that so?!”

Since she had been watching me in secret even during class, I thought she was in the same Humanities department as me. 

So… Does that mean she hasn’t been attending her own classes? What about her credits? Her attendance??

“I’ve been applying what I learned in the Nutrition Department to make the meals for you, Monoda-kun…. Hehehe… The classes are boring, but I’m glad it’s proven to be useful for you, Monoda-kun…”

“Who-Who cares about that?! You need to worry about your own attendance! Have you been attending your own classes?! What about your credits?!”

“It’s fine… If it’s for Monoda-kun’s sake… Ehehehe… One or two credits don’t matter…”

“No! Please attend your class! I’m begging you!”

I begged her with all of my heart. As it turned out, tomorrow happened to be a full day of for her. She didn’t have any class for tomorrow. What a coincidence.
