After Being Dumped By Senpai, I Met A High School Girl - Chapter 13 - Disaster
Chapter 13 – Disaster
“Hello Watanabe-san.”
“Yes?”
Airi-san looked towards my direction and responded.
So she was somewhat familiar with the name Watanabe.
“Oh, it’s you Ko-kun. I was surprised when I heard a voice from the back. What are you doing here?”
“I was… I was just passing by and saw you. But you sure are popular Airi-san. That was a confession, right? Did you accept his confession?”
“No…”
She answered in a low voice.
“O-Oh, I see…”
“What would you do if I accepted his confession? Would you feel sad, Ko-kun?”
“Of course not! I will be happy that I will finally be free from a troublemaker.”
“*Stare* Is that so?”
Don’t look at me like that. Really, I will be happy but at the same time, I’ll be sad okay? Just a little bit, but yeah! I will be sad.
“A-Anyways, I have something important to ask. Do you have some time right now?”
“Yes. But it’s getting late and mom would be worried. Would it be possible to talk while walking?”
“Sure.”
==========================================================
We started walking towards the exit of the park going in the direction of my apartment. Since Airi-san always goes towards my room a lot, maybe her house was closer than I expected?
After exiting the park, it’s only a few minutes away from my house. Thus I proceeded to ask her the question that was boggling my mind this entire time.
“Airi-san, do you know someone named Watanabe?”
“Yes, I know her.”
“I know it’s a weird question but… Eh? You know her?”
So she knows Watanabe? I wonder what their relationship is. I should ask more about that.
“Yes. We also meet most of the time.”
“I-I see. I was surprised to know you two knew each other.”
“By the way, how did you meet Yuki-chan, Ko-kun?”
“Yuki? Is that Watanabe-san’s first name? She was a student in class.”
“Really? Was she a good student?”
“I think so? Though she had quite a temperament.”
“Fufu… That is true.”
Airi-san giggled as she said that. They seemed quite close seeing that she calls her on a first name basis. Maybe they are siblings and that was why they looked alike?
But why do they have different surnames?
“So that’s how you know the time and place for the confession even though you didn’t receive the letter–.”
“Yes. Also, how did you know about the letter?”
“Ah!”
I messed up. Well, there’s no point in hiding it. So I decided to tell Airi-san the truth.
“I bumped into Watanabe-san earlier this morning and the letter was dropped. I saw your name on it, but wondered if you have a multiple personality disorder or something like that. Maybe you and Watanabe-san are siblings?”
“Hahaha. What’s up with that? Of course we two are different people. Yuki-chan is my sibling.”
“Oh, you really look far too similar that I mistook her for Airi-san.”
“Well, that’s because we are identical twins. There’s not a lot of people who can differentiate us.”
“Oh, that’s the first time I heard of it.”
“Well, it’s really no secret that we are siblings.”
I wanted to ask more about why they have different surnames. But I think it would be impolite to dive deeper into family matters. Plus I already got my answer so let’s just leave it at that.
We continued to walk and as we turned towards the corner, there was a lot of commotion. It seemed that there was a fire nearby. The sounds of the fire trucks’ sirens echoed loudly throughout the area.
“Ko-kun! There’s a fire at your place!!!”
Airi-san pointed out the direction of my apartment and from there emerged black smoke.
Upon hearing and seeing what was happening, I ran towards the direction of my apartment, wanting to get news of what was happening.
There was a caution tape written “DANGER”. The fire fighters must have sealed off the area in order to prevent people from entering the premises.
“The apartment… What should I do now…”
“…”
After an hour, the fire was totally extinguished. Still baffled by what happened, I was just standing on the spot staring at the burnt out apartment.
According to the fire fighters, the cause of the fire was faulty electrical wiring.
Fortunately, I don’t have a lot of important documents in there. But the problem was I don’t have a lot of money since I just recently started this teaching part-time job. I guess I’ll nag mom again. Where should I stay?
Suddenly Airi-san talked to me and brought me back to my senses.
“Ko-kun, Ko-kun! Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I guess so. I don’t have a lot of important stuff in there, but all my clothes are burned up now. Also, I don’t know where to stay for the meantime. And I just started part-time teaching. What trouble… *sigh*.”
“Then why don’t you stay with us in the meantime? I think mom would agree to that?”
“Hah?”
“Let’s go. It’s also getting darker.”
Still confused, I decided to follow Airi-san to her house.
