- Actually, There’s Someone at Your Workplace Who Likes You ~ I’m Being Transferred to a Sales Office Filled With Only Beautiful Women!?
- Chapter 4: Rinta Helps A Timid Beautiful Girl With An Idea
〈Rinta’s Side〉
The Shimizu Sales Office, where I was assigned, was near my parents’ house. However, after getting used to living alone in Tokyo, I had no desire to return to my cramped family home.
With that in mind, I rented a one-room apartment within walking distance of my new workplace.
I moved in with just the bare essentials, and by the time I finished unpacking, it was already late on the night before my assignment began.
Even though it was late, I decided to greet my neighbors. Unfortunately, both apartments next to mine were empty, so I had no choice but to leave a small gift—a bottle of laundry detergent—along with a short note in front of their doors.
I wondered what kind of people lived next door. Hopefully, not some rough-looking old guy or something.
After that, I went to grab dinner near the station and ended up having a bowl of beef rice.
At the convenience store on my way back, I spotted an absolutely mouthwatering pudding and immediately bought it.
Truth be told, I loved pudding. I was already looking forward to eating it once I got home.
As I walked back to my apartment along the dimly lit streets, I passed by several bars. A few drunken patrons were wandering around.
That was when I noticed a young woman being harassed by a drunk man in a suit.
“Hey there, cutie~ How about grabbing a drink with me?”
“Ah, please stop. Let go of me.”
What the hell was this guy doing?
The girl, her arm gripped by the man, seemed too timid to raise her voice for help.
A few passersby glanced their way but kept walking, unwilling to get involved.
Causing trouble on my first day at a new workplace wasn’t ideal, but I couldn’t just ignore the situation.
—What should I do?
Thinking quickly, I approached the two.
After glancing at the drunk man’s collar, I spoke up.
“Oh! Hey! Nice to meet you! You’re from Yamato Home, right?”
“Huh…?”
“Just got back from a company get-together? Oh, by the way, this girl is a friend of mine! Did she do something to upset you?”
“Ah, no… Not really… Uh, I should get going. Excuse me.”
Panicked, the man hurried off toward the station.
The girl blinked in surprise and stared at me.
“Um… are you… acquainted with that man?”
“Nope, never met him. You looked like you were in trouble, so I stepped in.”
“But you mentioned ‘Yamato Home’…”
“Oh, that. I noticed the company emblem on his suit collar, so I just went with it. I happened to know the company name from work. Figured if he realized someone knew where he worked, he’d back off.”
“Oh… I see.”
The girl nodded, looking genuinely impressed.
Now that I got a better look at her up close, she was stunning. The streetlights cast sharp shadows on her face, emphasizing her well-defined features.
“That guy seemed to head toward the station… Are you okay now? Or would you like me to walk you home?”
“Oh, no, I’m fine. I live just a short walk from here.”
“Got it. Well, be careful on your way home.”
Lingering too long would probably just make her uncomfortable. No need to overstay my welcome. Best to head home and enjoy that pudding. Yes, that sounded like a solid plan.
—That was what I decided.
“Ah, right. Thank you so much.”
She gave me a polite bow, and with that, I turned and started walking back to my apartment.
Tomorrow was my first day at the Shimizu Sales Office.
I needed a good night’s sleep to be at my best.
With that thought in mind, I headed home.
