ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Just as I expected, my older sister teased me relentlessly when I brought Shizuku home with me. However, Ichika was absolutely thrilled to have Shizuku over. Since I had anticipated this outcome, I left my sisters to Shizuku and quickly headed to the kitchen to make dinner. Given I had invited Shizuku for dinner a bit abruptly, I had to make do with whatever was left in the fridge. After checking the ingredients I had, I noticed we had a lot of tofu and beef, so I decided to make sukiyaki. I paired it with miso soup filled with some random ingredients we had left and a sesame-dressing salad made from spinach and carrots.
“Ah~ Just as I as I expected, Suou-kun’s cooking tastes amazing! Japanese food is truly the best for Japanese people, huh? I mean, three-quarters of my DNA says so, so yeah! Japanese food is definitely the best!”
“Ah, right. You’re a quarter, aren’t you?”
Shizuku ate the meal I had prepared with gusto, savoring every bite delightfully. She looked really happy when she was eating and once again, I realized how fortunate I was to be able to witness this sight with my own eyes. By the way, I had prepared five cups of rice, but they all disappeared in an instant.
After Shizuku and my sisters chatted for a bit, I walked Shizuku to the station.
“See you, Suou-kun! I will see you again tomorrow!”
“Yeah. See you tomorrow.”
As we parted, Shizuku waved her hand energetically at me. It seemed she had fully regained her spirits back. Seeing her like that, I felt confident that she’d be just fine tomorrow.

True to my expectations, the next day turned out to be incredibly hectic. The school summoned me for spreading Yamachi’s video and I was questioned by a lineup of school’s authorities, including the vice principal, the grade head and the discipilinary teacher. I had to waste my break time dealing with the aftermath. As a result, I didn’t have any time to eat my lunch and to make matters worse, I had a part-time job that day. The questioning went on even after school had ended. Once I was finally released, I had to rush straight to my part-time job and I practically shoved down my bento in the few spare moments I had before my shift started.
As for spreading the video, the teachers only gave me and the other three gyarus a warning.
“Don’t try to solve these kind of problems just between you students. We will let this slide due to the contents of the problem, but this is just a special exception. Don’t do this again.”
I received a very reasonable scolding. Because my actions were spurred on behalf of Shizuku, the main victim of this case, I got off with just a verbal warning and no additional consequences. That said, the fact still remained. I had gotten the three gyarus involved in this mess. When I apologized to them, their response was…
“No, no, no. The only ones in the wrong here are Yamachi and his gang. Suou, you don’t have anything to apologize about.”
“Precisely! If anything, we should be the ones thanking you! After all, you saved Shizuku from them! Right?!”
“Hm. Indeed. And so… Suou, thanks. Thanks a lot.”
I knew they were saying that out of consideration of me and… Yeah. Their kind words truly lifted a weight off my chest. I thought to myself that I would need to do something to show my gratitude to the three of them next time, but… When we were about to part ways, I suddenly realized. I hadn’t exchanged contact information with any of them.
…Well, whatever. I can always ask Shizuku to help me get in touch with them.
As for Yamachi and Katagiri, well… Both of them were suspended on that day. However, there was a significant difference in the severity of their punishments. Katagiri was only suspended for a week. Her punishment was relatively light compared to Yamachi, who received an indefinite suspension and he was also removed from the soccer team. The discrepancy in their punishments was likely due to the amount of evidence gathered against each of them. In reality, Katagiri hadn’t done anything wrong, based on the evidence we had against her. We only had the video of her using a love hotel, hence why her punishment wasn’t as severe as Yamachi. That being said, although the school couldn’t give her a harsher punishment, but she definitely didn’t walk away unscathed from this ordeal. After all, her true nature had been exposed to everyone at school.
Now that her reputation in shambles, there was no guarantee Katagiri could come back to school like normal even after her suspension had been lifted. On the other hand, Yamachi’s punishment was much harsher than Katagiri’s. In his case, he was punished for the love hotel incident and other various actions he had taken against Shizuku. But still, he actually got off relatively easy because of Shizuku’s wishes. The police didn’t get involved and he didn’t get expelled from school either. Anyway, that was how this whole incident came to an end.
The strings of even that started with that sudden downpour finally reach its end, but there was no time to bask in the aftermath. I was immediately swept up in a whirlwind of my part-time work. Since it was a long weekend and the jumbo sized ramen at the shop was gaining its popularity, my workplace became insanely busy, leaving me with no chance to catch my breath.

The long weekend came to an end and it was the last day of the semester. As soon as I entered the classroom and sat down at my desk, Shizuku came over to me. Her face was beaming.
“Suou-kun! Good morning!”
“Morning.”
I said shortly.
“What a weak reaction! You need to put a bit more effort into it, Suou-kun!”
She complained, nudging my shoulder repeatedly with her elbow. Just like always, it hurt more than I expected.
Is it just my imagination, or does she looks more excited than usual?
“…You’re in a pretty good mood. Did something nice happen?”
“Hm~ Ehehehe~ It’s a secret!”
Shizuku answered with a radiant smile on her face, but then…
“She’s just happy she can see Suou again after the long weekend. Am I right?”
“Wha-?! Sawa…!!”
“I know, right?~ After all, you’ve been all fidgety since earlier~”
“Wha-?! Natsuki too?!”
“Shizuku, do your best.”
“Rinoa, what kind of cheer is that….?”
Watching the four of them chattering away nosily… A part of me couldn’t help but find this scene heartwarming. It made me truly feel that all that mess from Yamachi had completely disappeared from their mind.
With this, Shizuku is now free.
That thought crossed my mind when suddenly, I noticed the stares from the boys around us. All of them were staring at Shizuku. Well, this wasn’t anything new either, but still… Realizing all of the boys were staring at Shizuku made my chest feel somewhat… Anxious. Anyway, I shook my head to dispel the bubbling feelings that were about to sprout in my heart.
After all, I feel like it’s still too soon to understand what this emotion really is.
I thought to myself as I cast my gaze toward the outside. The clear blue sky could be seen and through the open window, a breeze carrying the scent of summer blew into the class. With the wind sweeping my hair back, I was once again reminded that today marked the end of the rainy season in the Kanto region.
Finally, the rainy season is over.
After the rainy season, the following days would be filled with the blazing hot sun. The mere thought of the humid summer season made me feel a little weary, but at the same time, a part of me agreed that it wasn’t all that bad. I continued to gaze toward the outside scenery for a while when Shizuku called my name again.
“Hey, hey, Suou-kun! Can we all come visit you at your part-time job sometime?”
“…Sure, I don’t mind, but there’s nothing interesting for you all to see though?”
“It’s fine, it’s fine~ We will just watch Suou-kun work from a distance while grinning to ourselves!”
“Ah, I see. Well, in that case, the answer will be no.”
“What?! Well, we’re still going to come anyway even if you say no!”
Shizuku said that with a smile as bright as the summer sky. I had a feeling that this summer would be different from the usual. Then, I gave her a small smile in return.
