Goddess-Sama Vs. Childhood Friend. (Part 3)
Why is Kaho here at this hour?
…Come to think of it, today was half day at school.
If she came to visit me today because of the cold, I’d be of course very happy.
But the timing is not good.
If I don’t do something, Kaho and Mikoto-san will encounter each other.
Anyway, I had to let Mikoto-san know about this.
Kaho was already about to open the front door.
I hurriedly pulled back the sliding door and went back to the room where Mikoto-san was in.
There, I found Mikoto-san standing, her bra on her upper body and she was holding the T-shirt she had just taken off.
Come to think of it, I had completely forgotten that I had told her that she had wet her clothes and needed to change.
Mikoto-san froze, her eyes darting to and fro, and the next moment, she nearly screamed, “Kyaaaahhhh!”
I wondered what Kaho would say if she heard her scream.
Oh, no.
Fortunately, Kaho had difficulty opening the front door, probably because of the poor quality of the duplicate key.
I had to do something before she could open the front door.
I hurriedly persuaded Mikoto-san.
“I’m sorry. It’s not that I’m trying to do something weird or anything, but Kaho is here at the front door. So I want you to be quiet.”
Mikoto-san’s eyes widened.
“Really… Sasaki-san is here?”
“In a few moments, she will open the door, I think.”
“Um, what should I do?”
“Do you want me to be honest and tell her that you’re in this house, or do you want to hide?”
“H-hide?! It will definitely create a misunderstanding.”
Well, yeah.
There’s Mikoto-san in my room, and she only has a bra on her upper body.
It would be impossible for her not to be misunderstood.
I don’t think Mikoto-san, who hates men, would want her classmates to misunderstand that she and I have a strange relationship.
For my part, if Kaho misunderstood me, the idea of me dating Kaho would become even more impossible.
When Mikoto-san and I reached a point of agreement, I decided to ask Mikoto-san to hide in the back room.
In the layout of this apartment, Mikoto-san’s room is located at the far end of the house as seen from the entrance. The dining room and kitchen are located just outside the entrance, followed by my room, and finally, Mikoto-san’s room which was the one closest to the window. It was originally Amane-nee san’s room, and there was no reason for Kaho to go all the way into the back room.
Mikoto-san pulled back the sliding door and looked at me anxiously.
“I’m sorry, but… you’ll have to take care of the rest, Akihara-kun.”
“Got it.”
Mikoto-san nodded and closed the sliding door.
At the same moment, the front door opened. On the other side of the door stood Kaho in her school uniform.
Kaho had a look of disappointment on her face.
“What’s the matter? Haruto, you look fine to me.”
“Ahh, yeah.”
“I’m sorry for opening the door without permission. I thought maybe you had a fever and couldn’t answer, Haruto.”
“No, it’s not that serious, but…”
Kaho took off her shoes and went into the room’s kitchen.
She looked around in a circle.
“It’s just like old times. Clean and tidy.”
“Well, yeah. It’s been a long time since you came, Kaho.”
“Yeah, it’s been a while. The last time I came was six months ago when…”
Kaho fell silent awkwardly as she was about to say something.
The last time she came to this house was the day I confessed my love to her.
It was in this room that I told her that I loved her.
And then she dumped me.
Looking back, I probably should have confessed my feelings in a place with a different atmosphere.
But at the time, I didn’t think that she would reject me.
I tried to change the subject.
I noticed a plastic bag in Kaho’s hands.
There was a packet of instant porridge and cold medicine in it.
“Did you bring that for me?”
“Yes. My mother told me to bring it for you.”
“I see.”
Well, if I hadn’t gotten sick, Kaho wouldn’t have thought of coming to this house alone.
I think I would have done the same if I were in Kaho’s shoes.
Kaho looked at me with eyes upwards.
“But, Haruto, you seem totally fine. Maybe you’re just skipping school?”
I concluded that I couldn’t fool her, so I gave up.
“Yeah, just skipping school. There’s just something I wanted to do.”
“You made me worry.”
Kaho mumbled.
I don’t mind if she gets mad at me, but if she thinks I’m just skipping school, she’ll probably go home as soon as possible.
The longer Kaho stays here, the more likely it is that she will find out that Mikoto-san is hiding in the back room, which is separated only by a sliding door.
When I prompted Kaho to leave, she looked a little hurt.
“I haven’t been here in a while, so you could have been more welcoming.”
“I’m very glad you came, and I’m sorry for worrying you. But I have something I want to do, so you should go home for today.”
“Haruto, are you still angry with me?”
“What?”
“…About me rejecting you.”
“Why would I be offended? Whether you accept or reject my confession is your choice. There is no reason for me to be angry at you.”
“You are angry.”
I didn’t mean to be angry, but I guess my tone was a bit brusque.
It’s her right to reject me.
I just assumed that she liked me, and I was hurt by it.
When I said that, she shook her head.
“I’m actually a very bad girl.”
Saying this, Kaho smiled sadly.
