Chapter 48 Clinical Trials
Without delay, we moved to a separate room to begin the clinical trial.
First, I took a vial of liquid medication and a syringe out of my storage magic and began to fill the syringe with the appropriate dose.
During this process…
“What exactly are you doing?” Mordena asked, gazing curiously at the syringe.
“Preparing an injection.”
“Injection…?”
…Could it be that even injections are considered lost technology here?
“This is a method of administering medication.”
I used a hologram to show the process.
“You…insert a needle and inject the contents? How innovative…”
Mordena seemed slightly taken aback by the image displayed in the hologram.
“…But if Hadar says this method works, then I have no objections.”
At least it didn’t seem like the method of administration would be a reason for rejection. I felt a bit relieved, having braced myself for potential resistance.
However, given the circumstances, it looks like I’ll need to supply syringes as well. That’s fine, though; I can easily mass-produce them using alchemy magic. After all, I created this syringe in less than a second with alchemy.
With these thoughts in mind, I returned the medication to my storage magic. It was finally time to start the administration.
“Could I have your arm for a moment?”
“Of course.”
I cast a light sterilization spell on the surface of the skin and then administered the injection.
“Huh… it didn’t hurt at all, even though the needle went in.”
“The needle is designed in a way that avoids stimulating human pain receptors.”
“Is that really possible…?”
As we talked, the injection was completed.
Now, it’s observation time. First, I activated a high-level analysis spell to monitor her health in detail. Then,
“To observe for any side effects, I’ll speed up time a bit.”
I was about to cast a time dilation spell.
“Speed up time…?”
“Observing for several days can be tedious. So, I’m planning to fast-forward time a bit using time dilation magic.”
“Using time dilation magic like a simple daily spell… Well, if it’s you, Hadar, I guess that’s normal.”
She seemed a bit surprised, but since she didn’t object, I proceeded with the spell. Initially, to quickly respond in case of anaphylaxis, I set the time to five times speed and observed for about six minutes. As expected, nothing happened, so I then accelerated time to 120 times speed for 24 minutes, which equated to about two days in her body’s time.
“So, how do you feel? Any strange changes in your condition?”
“For a moment, I felt a bit feverish and dazed, but now I feel perfectly fine!”
When I asked her how she felt, she reported no significant issues.
“More importantly, this is amazing. I’ve never felt this much magical energy in my life!”
“That’s great to hear.”
It seemed the intended effect of increasing her magical power was successful.
Now, I just needed to check the analysis results for any potential side effects. Although she appeared perfectly healthy, the primary goal was to conduct a clinical trial. I had to ensure there were no unforeseen adverse effects.
With that in mind, I displayed the analysis results on a hologram. All the various health metrics appeared normal, with no abnormalities detected.
“What kind of magic is this?!”
“This is data from a high-level health analysis spell, displayed on a hologram using light magic. According to the data, there don’t seem to be any adverse effects on your health.”
“Such a spell exists… Ah, but I do recognize some of these metrics. I didn’t know there was such a detailed version…”
Mordena-san examined the output with great interest for a while.
“Do you think this can be approved?”
“Of course. Please wait a moment.”
When I asked about the crucial approval, Mordena-san responded immediately and left the room. Shortly after, she returned with a piece of paper.
“This is the authorization. The effects were so impressive that, as a special exception, I’ve used my authority to skip all the usual procedures.”
What she brought was indeed the authorization itself. As expected of a saintess, she could make such things happen.
“Thank you.”
“Oh, and aside from the potion approval, we’ll also provide additional compensation. This is in exchange for increasing my magical power.”
So, I would be getting that as well. I really lucked out.

Chapter 49 Tri-Dia Company
Since I unexpectedly received approval from the church so smoothly, I decided to go ahead and deliver the vaccine.
The destination was the Tri-dia Trading Company, with whom I had connections from the umami seasoning deal. I figured it would be easier to talk to someone I already knew. I had a map of the Tri-dia Trading Company headquarters from Reich-san, so there was no need to look up the location.
The headquarters wasn’t far—close enough that transforming into a dragon would result in more time lost in the transformation process. So, I rode on the Great Seitan’s cloud to the headquarters building.
Upon arriving, I headed to the reception desk from the entrance.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Hadar, and I’ve been working with you on the umami seasoning. Today, I’d like to discuss a new product.”
“Oh, thank you for your continued support. May I kindly ask for some identification to confirm your identity?”
“Of course.”
As the receptionist asked, I started to pull out my student ID using storage magic. However, at that moment, a familiar voice echoed through the building.
“There’s no need for that.”
When I turned around, there was Reich-san.
“I remember his face. Actually, it would be harder to forget him.”
“Understood, Officer Reich!”
The receptionist snapped to attention at Reich-san’s words.
“I’ll take you to an available meeting room. If there isn’t one, I’ll make one by moving whoever’s in there. Please follow me.”
Reich-san turned to me and said this.
Wait, moving people out of their meetings just for this? That seems a bit extreme… But before I could say anything, Reich-san was already walking away. Hoping there was an available room, I followed her.
◇
Fortunately, we found an empty room, so we didn’t have to inconvenience anyone by moving them out, and we were able to start our business discussion smoothly.
Before getting into the main topic, there was an additional order for the umami seasoning, so I decided to take care of that first.
“Alright, let me do some alchemy… there!”
“Wow, that’s so much!”
Anticipating this situation, I had collected some monsters that died in the aftermath of my mock battle with Francois yesterday. Using those as a base, I instantly created a large quantity of sodium glutamate and inosinic acid and handed them over.
“This is much more than last time. Will it all sell?”
“Absolutely! Considering how fast the last order sold, there’s almost no chance this won’t sell out!”
With Reich-san’s confident assurance, I decided to deliver the entire batch.
With that settled, we moved on to the main topic.
“So, what exactly is the new product?”
Reich-san leaned forward with sparkling eyes, eagerly asking. I was planning to explain properly, so no need to be so eager…
“It’s the Seitan Virus mRNA Vaccine. To put it simply, it’s a medicine that permanently triples a person’s total magic capacity.”
I figured explaining the mechanism right away might be confusing, so I started with the conclusion.
“…Huh?”
Reich-san’s eyes widened in surprise.
“It’s a medicine that permanently triples a person’s total magic capacity.”
“…Whaaat!?”
When I repeated the explanation, she let out a loud exclamation after a brief delay. Whoa, is she okay? I hope we’re not disturbing the neighboring rooms…
Just in case, I quickly set up a soundproof barrier around the walls, floor, and ceiling.
“What kind of overpowered effect is that?”
“It just happened by chance.”
“That’s not something that should just happen by chance! We all know your abilities are exceptional, so don’t be modest!”
“Well, I mean…”
It really was just a coincidence. The original purpose was to create immunity against the Seitan Virus, as the name suggests.
“It sounds like a seriously dangerous drug… Are there any side effects?”
“It’s fine.”
Seeing Reich-san’s concern, I reassured her. Indeed, hearing that it triples magic capacity could make it sound like a doping potion. Doping potions often come with significant side effects, so I understand the worry.
However, this vaccine is truly safe. Well, “safe” in the sense that it doesn’t have harmful side effects.
“The only ‘side effect’ is that it creates antibodies against the Seitan Virus. But that’s something that won’t affect your daily life, so in practical terms, there are no side effects.”
It felt strange to call the creation of antibodies a “side effect,” but since the vaccine was approved as a magic amplification drug, technically, that’s considered the side effect.
I added this explanation.
“Seitan… Virus…?”
“It’s the nano-sized fragments created by the Great Seitan. But you won’t encounter it unless you go to the Inferno Continent, so you can disregard that.”
“Disregard that? You mention a mythical creature and expect us to ignore it… that’s a bit much…”
As I continued explaining, Reich-san seemed to get more and more confused, eventually holding her head in her hands.
Hmm, it looks like I’ve overwhelmed her. I tried my best to avoid this, but somewhere along the line, I must have messed up.
I’ll need to work on my presentation skills before any job interviews.
While I was thinking this, Reich-san suddenly nodded a few times and then lifted her head with a determined look. She then spoke sharply.
“In short, to summarize, you’ve created a drug with unbelievable effects that sound like a fairy tale, using an incomprehensible method. I completely understand now.”
That’s not what I’d call understanding…
“But one thing I am certain of is that this drug has a revolutionary level of demand. Please let us stock it!”
She bowed deeply as she said this.
Well, as long as I can deliver it, the details don’t matter.
“Of course, that’s why I came.”
From there, we worked on the procedures for delivering the drug. They made a copy of the authorization I received from the church, and since the administration method was unique, I created a magical device that could display a holographic video explaining how to use the syringe.
We managed to complete the delivery process within about an hour.
“Negotiating prices is my specialty. Please leave it to me,” Reich-san said confidently as I was about to leave.
Considering her somewhat shaky grasp of the drug’s effects, it’s hard to say how much I can rely on her.
But rather than aiming to sell it at the highest possible price, I prefer for it to be distributed widely at a reasonable price. So I’ll just leave it to her and see how it goes.
