Chapter 32: The Weak Demon Lord Goes to the Nagoya Dungeon
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
“Why… Why is this happening…?”
“Olden? What’s wrong?”
While streaming, I was watching footage of the dungeon interior and couldn’t help but lament.
“Why is it only men getting caught by the tentacle traps!?”
“Ah, uh… You’re talking about one of the new traps designed from a viewer’s suggestion.”
“I thought it wouldn’t hurt to add a bit of fanservice to the dungeon, and this is what I get!!”
I pointed at the monitor and shouted. What was on-screen was the sight of a brawny, muscular man being entangled by the tentacle floor. This tentacle trap was something I’d installed a few days ago.
After collecting ideas from viewers on Tweeter, an overwhelming number of suggestions came in. From those, I had Glen make the most requested one. But… As everyone could see, this was the result. Rather than catching female explorers in compromising positions like I’d envisioned, only men were getting caught.
“Ugh, why won’t any women come near this area?”
『Well, Ol-san, that’s because the trap’s location was totally exposed during your stream.』
“Ah.”
『This bonehead really didn’t notice, huh? lol』
I hadn’t realized until they said it…
“Hm? But if that’s the case, then why are those guys getting caught in the tentacles…?”
『There are guys in this world who want to get caught by tentacles.』
“Humanity’s!! Desires!! Run deep!!”
I once again trembled at the depths of human depravity. Still, it was hard to believe every explorer in Japan watched my channel. Surely there was a chance that a female explorer unaware of my stream might get caught by the trap and—well, I’d finally get to see something nice…
Or so I thought, but strangely, there seemed to be fewer people visiting Tokyo Dungeon today.
“That’s odd. There aren’t even half as many explorers as usual.”
『That’s because most of the capable ones are off on assignment in Nagoya.』
“Ah, the Nagoya Dungeon… I wonder if Rio-san is doing well. I’m a little worried.”
『Bone is saying something mentor-like.』
“Not just like, I am her mentor, you know?”
Well, Rio-san still had a lot of room to grow. The only things I’d been able to teach her were summoning and resurrection magic, but if she studied under a Demon Lord more powerful than me, she’d surely become even stronger.
The problem is, among the Demon Lords I know, very few are friendly toward humans.
“Still, she’s basically immortal like me, so unless the heavens flip upside down, she should be fine.”
“Olden, that kind of statement… Isn’t that what they call a death flag?”
『Yeah, no doubt that was a flag.』
“What do you all think I am—”
It happened far too suddenly. A presence, exuding ominous magical energy, manifested in a place far from Tokyo Dungeon.
“W-What was that? That sinister energy…”
『I suddenly got chills.』
『Something happen? Trouble?』
Apparently, those like Glen and some viewers who were sensitive to magic felt it too. Naturally, I sensed it as well—but more than anything, I was shaken.
“…Why…”
“Olden?”
“Why… Why are you still alive!? I’m sure—I made sure I killed those damn bastards with my own hands!!”
“Hey, calm down, Olden!! Your magic is leaking out!!”
“Hmph. …My apologies.”
Snapped out of it by Glen shaking my shoulder, I suppressed the magic that had begun overflowing from my body.
Whew… How childish of me.
『Why did Bone just start flipping out out of nowhere? lol』
『He wasn’t even this pissed when Al-chan got ambushed by that sleazy explorer.』
『U-uh, wanna talk about it…?』
It seemed even the viewers could feel my anger. After giving a brief apology, I announced the end of the livestream.
“Everyone, I’m sorry. That’s it for today’s livestream. Something urgent has come up that I must check on immediately. Farewell.”
『Wait, it’s already over?』
『Feels like something serious actually happened.』
『No clue what’s going on, but I’ll be waiting for the next livestream.』
I ended the broadcast and stood up.
“Olden, do you know what that ominous energy was?”
“…Yes, I do. That presence belongs to my nemesis—someone I could honestly say I hate.”
“It’s rare to hear you say you hate someone.”
“I think so too. But those bastards—I can never forgive them. I must not forgive them. Which is why I’m going to go kill them now.”
“You say you’ll go, but how? It’s far from here. And can you even win against them?”
Glen had a point. I had to get to the scene quickly to confirm things. But hopping on a train wasn’t exactly an option for me.
Now then, what to do…
“Oh? What’s this… Hm.”
“Olden?”
“It seems Rio-san is currently engaged in battle. She’s using summoning magic right now. Hmm, if I connect my summoning magic to hers—”
“Olden!? Your body is glowing!?”
“Oh, it’s working better than I expected, even without a test drive. I’ll pop over to Nagoya for a bit. I’m leaving the dungeon in your hands. Ask Al-san if anything comes up.”
“Wait, hold—huh? The livestream…?”
Ignoring Glen’s attempt to stop me, I used Rio-san’s summoning magic to teleport near the Nagoya Dungeon.
What awaited me there was a hellscape. Hundreds of explorers lay dead, as if they’d been chewed apart by a massive maw.
Grotesque. The scene was so horrific I grimaced involuntarily. Then I spotted Rio-san, frantically running around with a desperate look on her face.
“Haah… haah… uugh… I can’t… take this anymo—eh!? Olden-san!? You’re coming out of my magic circle!?”
“Hello, Rio-san. Sorry to catch you while you’re exhausted, but could you explain the situation?”
“I’m the one who wants an explanation!!”
There wasn’t really anything to explain—I just linked my summoning magic to hers.
“Th-the thing is… I don’t really understand it either!! One of the demon guys suddenly exploded and turned into a woman, and she had, like, tons of mouths!!”
“…Just as I feared.”
“A-And then, the bugs and the Hero Party and the Principal said they’d buy time and told me to guide the evacuation. I wanted to fight too since I can self-resurrect, but Akira-san stopped me, saying she had a bad feeling about that thing…”
“Hmm, a wise decision.”
If the woman with many mouths was who I thought she was, then she devoured souls themselves. Despite her ability to self-resurrect, Rio-san would’ve likely died for good if she’d been eaten.
“U-Um, Olden-san… Who is that woman?”
“That’s hard to explain. Let’s just say she’s someone I truly despise.”
“Eh? Even you, the guy who treats everyone he meets like a friend, hates her?”
“Is that really how I come off?”
…Well, I do have a lot of friends.
“Anyway, I’ll go on ahead.”
“Wait, huh? A-Are you going to be okay!?”
“Let’s see… In my current state, I definitely can’t win—but I have a plan. Not one I like, though.”
Leaving those words behind, I followed the presence to where my nemesis awaited. She was in the plaza in front of Nagoya Dungeon.
It was splattered with even more blood than the last location. Thankfully, there were relatively few human corpses. Instead, dead insect monsters—likely summoned by Rio—were scattered everywhere. All bore bite marks.
And finally, I spotted the likely culprit: a blue-skinned woman. Akira was locked in combat with her, wielding a holy sword. But it seemed the rest of her party had already been wiped out.
“Akira-san.”
“Hm? Olden? Don’t tell me you came to save me?”
“No, I’m here strictly for my own benefit.”
“Even if it’s a lie, I’d prefer you said it was for me… Can you resurrect Kyouka and the others?”
“Impossible. Their souls were eaten. If we defeat her and retrieve them, then it might be possible.”
“Then all the more reason to take her down.”
“Let’s fight together.”
When I said that, Akira fixed a sharp gaze on the blue-skinned woman.
“Done talking? I’m not full yet, so don’t die too fast, okay? Fresh kills are the tastiest after all!!”
“Still as picky an eater as ever, Evil God Belzethea.”
“Oh? Have we met before? I don’t remember meeting someone who looks as hard to chew as you.”
“Ah, my apologies. Pay me no mind.”
Of course she wouldn’t recognize me in this form. But that was fine. This was my chance.
I will kill this Evil God with my own hands.. This time for good.
