Chapter 3: The Gyaru next seat
Tachibana Sumire. Un-according to her elegant and refined name, her appearance is aggressive, or maybe weird/eccentric is a better word? Either way, she’s definitely not the type of person who can fit in the same group as that for honour/model students. Wouldn’t it be better to just rename herself to something like “Tachibana Tinkerbell” after all, she has that platinum blonde hair with her. Wait, what’s with the term ‘platinum blonde hair’ in the first place? Right now is the Reiwa era you know? Do you even get that, I?
Somehow, on reflecting at my own outdated choice of words, I cringe very hard. I know it might be a little late for this, but if the arena is inside the walls of my heart, I can even beat a hardcore extrovert as well. Well, even though on the outside, I am a loner(bocchi) with no redeeming factors at all.
Keeping that beside the point.
Well in short, Tachibana is what you’d call a gyaru. Since Asako High is relatively well-behaved school, with most students sticking to the dress code. That’s why Tachibana, with her blonde hair and perm, stands out, and not in a good way at that.
Even if the sun would forgive her unruly appearance, the teachers certainly won’t, because of which, it’s only natural that she gets frequently warned by them.
If she had practiced a proper school life, she would never have had a chance to visit the student guidance office, but for her, it is a place she has already gotten used to, probably because she is a regular there.
Although her hair colour has remained unchanged.
As neighbors, I overhear Tachibana’s excuses to the teacher, which are either brilliant or idiotic,……, yet she tries to push them off saying, “I don’t dye my hair, it’s my natural hair,” or “I don’t perm my hair, it’s wavy from the beginning!” And tries to somehow to push it through. What’s even more amazing is the fact that she had actually pushed through with it in the end.
Those Iron-like sanctions used to be the norm just till the past. Nowadays, when forceful corrections become a problem, the teachers hesitate to take strong action, and as a result, they end up in a situation where they are forced to deal with the situation.
Probably, since Tachibana knows this, which is why she can act so confidently. To all the teachers out there, I truly sympathize with you.
And to see that Tachibana’s “Tinkerbell crew” mingling in with Hiiragi’s group was quite a rare sight.
Both Hiiragi and Tachibana are existence something sort of leader in the class, and because of that, they tend to avoid each other’s groups as a given.
As far as I know, there’s no overt conflict between them. However, it’s clear even to an outsider like me that they are very conscious of each other. Well, since if they weren’t, they would have been getting along with each other quite well right now.
And I’m not the only one observing this gathering of the class top-tier from the sidelines. Others in the class, while pretending to go about their usual activities, are also taking sneak glances.
A “tense standoff,” well it maybe an exaggeration to say that, but there was a certain tension in the air.
…I have no idea what they’re talking about.
Because everyone else’s pretend to go about their usual business, so before I can catch what they’re saying, the meeting was over.
With the result being: Tachibana’s group left the scene.
“——-Tch.”
On returning to her seat, Tachibana crossed her legs arrogantly, and clicked her tongue. She looked visibly displeased.
Rather, I can’t help but think every time, can’t something be done about her thigh exposure? School rules? What’s that, is it delicious? Her skirt length is so short that it’s even beyond ridiculous. Can’t you consider that there’s a healthy teenage boy sitting next to you? C’mon already.
“…Auh? What are you staring at, creep?”
“Ah, nope, N-nothing.”
As if I had unintentionally stepped on a tiger’s tail, Tachibana’s sharp gaze bore into me.
I quickly looked down at my desk, trying to appeal that I meant no harm.
I’m sorry, I’m really sorry! Staring too hard can worsen your mood right and feels creepy right! Rather actually, even if I don’t stare, I’m already quite creepy right! It’s all fine, I’m aware of it actually, and since I’m seriously reflecting on my behaviour, so please forgive me already!
“…Tch.”
…I was forgiven. I got away with just a tongue click.
I breathed a sigh of relief.
and felt a growing desire to change seats.
As I thought, Gyarus are scary. As I was processing this realization, my phone vibrated briefly after.
On glancing at the screen, I saw a new message received from Hiiragi.
“Come to our usual place after school. I have something to talk about.”
