Chapter 8 – Father Wants to Talk – Part 1
It’s been a busy day today.
The day started with Yasunomihara-san’s bold remark about us going out, followed by a tamagoyaki lunchbox and a study session with Tanaka-san.
My life as a loner was over before I knew it.
I feel kind of happy, but at the same time, it feels a bit off.
I went home, I looked at my phone in my room and I got a notification on my phone.
On the way home today, Yasunomihara-san asked me if I was on the social messanging app LIME, and when I said I was (as a tool for communicating with my parents), we ended up exchanging contact details.
Yuuka: Tadakuni is awake?
Tadakuni: I’m awake.
Yuuka: what are you doing now?
Tadakuni: I was searching on my smartphone.
Yuuka: I was just searching on my smartphone too!
The two of us passed the time with casual conversation.
It’s difficult to get the words out when talking face to face, but chatting allows me to talk with Yasunomihara-san with ease.
I wish I could change my dark nature as soon as possible.
Yuuka: I bought a book the other day that was apparently not a ‘couple instruction book’ but a ‘baka-couple instruction book’, so I was going to look up the meaning of ‘baka-couple’.
Oi oi oi, this young lady is trying to look up something weird, Natsume-san!
It would be nice if she didn’t come across any shady images by looking up slang words such as baka-couple.
Yuuka: Tadakuni! How can I remove this filtering thing!?
N-Nice filtering…
Tadakuni: It’s too early for Yasunomihara-san.
Yuuka: I’m so pissed off that I’m going to do what Nambu-san taught me about sticker-bombing. Take this, Tadakuni!
Bam, bam, bam. The notification sound of stickers resounded one after another without interruption.
Someone stop this sticker-bombing lady.
When the sticker-bombing finally stopped, the sentences were sent as normal.
Yuuka: Come to think of it, Dad said he wanted to talk to Tadakuni at dinner today.
Eh…?
Tadakuni: I’m not going to be erased by your father, am I?
Yuuka: Mou! Dad wouldn’t do that!
Still, I don’t think the president of Yasunomihara, one of Japan’s top companies along with Sakurazaki and Shirakaba, would approve of her daughter being in a relationship with an ordinary person like me.
Yuuka: Dad is a distinguished British gentleman, so he wouldn’t do something mean like that!”
British gentleman…that means she’s British?
If so, could Yasunomihara-san’s blonde hair be her natural hair?
Yuuka: what should we do?
Tadakuni: Okay. Tell your father that I have some questions I want to ask him too, and I’d like to have a chance to talk to him.
Yuuka: Thank you very much. I’m sure Dad will be pleased.
Am I the only one who thinks that if the president of Yasunomihara had been asked by me, an ordinary high school student, to give me her daughter, I would have had my head blown off?
Yuuka: I should get to bed, it’s bad for my skin. Excuse me.
Tadakuni: Good night. See you tomorrow.
The conversation with Yasunomihara-san ended and I suddenly regained my composure.
…Yeah, let’s just go and buy some stomach pills.

After school the next day, I put a bottle of stomach pills in my pocket and positioned myself in front of the school gate…
Yasunomihara-san, who was waiting next to me to be picked up, looked into my face worriedly.
“Tadakuni, are you really okay without me?”
“Y-Y-Y-Yeah, I want to talk to your father a-a-a-alone…”
“You’re acting like a broken doll.”
I was waiting in front of the school building when two limousines arrived.
“Yuuka-sama will take the front limousine home. Yasuda-sama will take the rear limousine to the Yasunomihara headquarters.”
“T-Thank you!”
“Tadakuni…”
“Don’t worry… I’ll make sure to tell my true feelings.”
“…I understand. Please contact me on LIME when you are done.”
I nodded and got into the limousine.
This is the first time I’ve ridden in a limousine and I doubt I’ll ever ride in one again, but the inside of a limousine…it’s so big.
Without realizing it, the limousine had started moving while I was still interested.
“You have a lot of guts, Yasuda-sama.”
“Given the circumstances, I just wanted to meet her parents beforehand.”
The limousine is headed for the famous skyscraper that rises in the middle of the city.
I forced my unsteady legs to move like a fawn and got off the limousine, then took the elevator that was as spacious as a single university student’s room.
And—
