Chapter 15 – The Young Lady and Cooking – Part 2
“Now, what shall we do?”
“…Well, Yasunomihara-san, can you fry the meat first? I’ll wash the vegetables.”
“Alright. When I’m done with the meat, I’ll cut the vegetables too.”
“Yeah, okay.”
Yasunomihara-san put on an apron before tying her hair with a hair band.
“Earlier, I had Natsume prepare an apron for Tadakuni as well.”
I was handed pink apron, the same kind worn by Yasunomihara-san.
“Look! We match!”
“…Y-Yeah…”
No way, a pair of pink aprons…
I reluctantly pulled my ill-fitting pink apron around my neck and took the vegetables out of the shopping bag and put them in the sink.
Carrots, potatoes and onions. All familiar vegetables in curry.
First, I washed the carrots and potatoes thoroughly and peeled them using a peeler.
After that, I peeled the onions with my hands, then wrapped only the inside with plastic wrap and microwave it for 40 seconds.
While waiting for it, I used the end of the knife to remove all the potato sprouts.
I can’t cut corners because Yasunomihara-san will also be eating.
“T-Tadakuni? I don’t think you have to be so serious about it.”
“But I wouldn’t want anything to happen to Yasunomihara-san.”
After telling her father that I would protect Yasunomihara-san, I have a mission to protect her even if it costs me my life, so I have to be very careful.
“Mou, Tadakuni, you worry too much.”
“Because I…care about Yasunomihara-san.”
“……”
For some reason, Yasunomihara-san then silently rubbed her perky hair and forehead against my arm.
“U-Um, Yasunomihara-san? What happened?”
“It’s nothing! Tadakuni is unfair in many ways.”
“E-Eh…?”
Did I offend her? She’s been grinning at me for a while now.
“But more importantly, Tadakuni is used to handling vegetables, isn’t he?”
“Oh, yeah. I was in charge of dinner at home.”
“In charge of dinner?”
Oh, come to think of it, I never told Yasunomihara-san about my house or anything like that.
“In my family, both my parents work. My father is away a lot on business and my mother is always tired at night after her part time job. So I was the only one who had free time, so I cooked dinner.”
“I see…”
“Well, that said, I’m not that good a cook.”
“No, Tadakuni is amazing. He properly takes care of his parents.”
“No, I don’t think so… Oh, I’m about to put the vegetables in.”
I put vegetables and water in the pot for curry.
We stood around in the kitchen for a while until the stew was finished.
“I haven’t been able to be filial to my parents yet. I want to be filial like Tadakuni.”
“Yasunomihara-san is an excellent student and athlete, so I think that makes her a great filial daughter.”
“It’s not like that! I want to do something that will make my father and mother happy.”
“Even if you say that…”
There is nothing that is not available for the Yasunomihara family, and even housework is a job of the caretakers.
“That’s right! We have not yet reported to Father in person that we have started living together in this house!”
“Oh, yeah. I should thank him too.”
“Then, I will report what’s going on to him by phone now! I’m sure he’ll be happy to hear it!”
I think it’s best for the father to talk to his daughter.
It’s a little different from showing filial piety, but I also have to say thank you, so it’s a good opportunity.
But first, I’m going to make sure of one thing.
“I’d like to ask you one question.”
“What is it?”
“Um, is your mother okay with us?”
I am just as scared of Yasunomihara-san mother as I was of her father.
Because…
“—A commoner like you is not fit to be with my daughter, you must die.”
…If she were to say that and I get dropped at the base of Mt. Fuji…
※Yasunomihara is a clean Japanese company that has nothing to do with the mafia.
“Tadakuni really worries too much.”
“Well it’s because…”
“You see, mother is of Yasunomihara blood, remember?”
…Ah, I see! The fact that Yasunomihara-san’s father is a foreigner means that her mother is a descendant of the Yasunomihara family.
This means that she had the same fate as Yasunomihara-san in the past…
“So there is no one who is as understanding as mother about this case.”
“I-I guess that makes sense.”
“And besides, mother is a kind person. If it’s someone as sincere as Tadakuni, it will be alright.”
She said that, but…
As I began to lose confidence, Yasunomihara-san took out her phone and made a call to Natsume-san.
“It seems like it’s just before dinner right now. We should be able to connect with them soon.”
Oh, God, I’m getting nervous.
Yasunomihara-san turned her phone call into a video call and hugged my arm.
“Hey! Yasunomihara-san!”
“It’s okay.”
At that moment, the call connected.
The image on the phone in front of me was a beautiful black-haired woman dressed in a wisteria-coloured kimono.
What stole my eyes more than anything else was the, um…very big breasts…
The bosom of the kimono looked tight, and that was all my eye could see.
This is what they call “genetics,” huh…
“—Nice to meet you, Tadakuni-san. I’m Yuuka’s mother, Yasunomihara Hoona.”
