Side Talk Part 1: Sena’s marital circumstances.
It happened right when I achieved the position of being a manager in chief at the company I work in.
“Sena, now that you have a firm foot on your job, please start thinking about your marriage.”
“Eh? I don’t want to.”
“If you don’t get married, do you know how it will impact your sister as well? Don’t be so stubborn and listen to us for a while.”
“I listened to you for all my life!”
“And it only benefited you. Listen, what we say is for your own good. What do you think we would even get after you get married? You will stay with your husband.”
“I want to focus on my work. I have to complete an important project by the end of a year and a half. I can consider after that.”
“You are already coming of age. After some time it will be hard to—-“
“Our discussion is over mom. I am going.”
I didn’t want to marry just yet.
I don’t feel like it as well.
What if my husband is a fool?
I don’t want to put my life at such a risk, just when I made it so big.
And so, as I told my mom, I got into one of the project that was in high demand. I pushed my way to get into it.
I think, that was right around the time when a Man named Nagi joined our company, and was placed under me for training.
The looks of Nagi was far far away from whom I could even dream of sharing my entire remaining life with.
Too well dressed, hair combed to perfection, coat neat and tidy, his trousers were well ironed and the way he wore it was also so perfect.
His whole appearance was just so so so perfect that it felt nauseating just being near him.
As my life… It was anything but perfect.
Going around following what my mom decides, what my father thinks right. That is also the reason I adore my little sister, and help her from time to time.
I don’t want her to go through what I had to.
But now that I think about it. Seeing at that perfect-ness of Nagi was probably the trigger that something inside me wanted to crumble that perfect –thing of his. Something inside me wanted to teach him that everything is not perfect in life. I wanted him to let loose of his perfect attitude ——but even saying that now, would just be a justification for what he might have went through.
For, as perfect as he seemed, I thought of making him do the work till he has done it perfectly. Which also means that, even if he did a work perfectly, I would ask him to redo just so that he does it even more extraordinarily.
Truthfully, everything was going well. The progress of the employee, his/her promotion is all in the hands of manager in chief, and I was not planning to go so low as to take someone’s credit to my name.
No, if I do that, our company actually has a rule that can have me screwed up completely in the business world. So I wouldn’t dare to.
I wouldn’t, generally. It was just that, the situations didn’t play out right.
“See this photo, He looks quite the handsome man doesn’t he? His name is also just perfect, Arata. He also earns in 7 figures. He is the best man that you can get.”
“Mom, I am already busy with my work.”
“You have no say in it. I have already talked with his parents. We are visiting each other next month’s first Sunday. Be ready.”
“Mom!”
“Your father has also agreed. We will go and buy a dress that suits you.”
“Even so, have you really confirmed about his background?”
“Yes, he is a doctor. Has connections with various firms. Has close relations with top officials in the city as well. He is well reputed, and is very kind and humble.”
Too perfect, he is just too perfect. So perfect that it feels nauseating. There is definitely something wrong in him. This is just too good to believe in. And moreover, I don’t think my worth is so high to even get a man like him.
There has to be a click.
“Ok, mom.”
“Great. So, Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at this hotel. Me and your Dad will go and buy a dress perfect for you!”
“…yeah.”
