ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
After sleeping for three days and three nights straight, Balg finally opened his eyes. He was greeted by Sierra and the others, who were on the verge of tears. Even though his consciousness had awakened, his body was far from fully recovered. By Fana’s judgment, it was decided that he would devote himself to recuperation inside the cave for a while longer.
“Balg-san, open up—ahh♡”
“No, Sierra. I told you, I can eat by myself now, you know…”
“No, you can’t. Injured people need to rest.”
“Mmph!?”
A spoon was forcefully shoved into his mouth, cutting off his words. Balg had recovered enough to somehow prop himself up, but for some reason, Sierra and the others were still taking turns helping him eat. Even when he insisted that his arms could move, no one paid him any attention at all.
“I wouldn’t mind feeding you mouth-to-mouth, you know. That’s how we’ve been doing it this whole time.”
“Please spare me…”
In the bowl she held was bread porridge that had been simmered down smooth. Sierra looked at it regretfully as she spoke. She was happy that Balg had regained the strength to chew, but losing a legitimate (?) reason to kiss him was a sad thing indeed.
From Balg’s perspective, he was certainly grateful for their devoted care, but he couldn’t help tilting his head and wondering if there might have been a slightly better way to go about it than having had his lips stolen countless times without his knowledge.
“More importantly, Balg… That eye of yours really is…”
Nerva peeked over Sierra’s shoulder. With her ears drooping sadly, she asked the question hesitantly. Balg swallowed what was in his mouth and gently touched his right eye. The eye that had been ravaged by the Pain Serpent’s venom and digestive fluids had turned cloudy, no longer able to focus. Balg himself was fully aware that half of his vision was now gone.
“I can’t see out of it. Well, I’m lucky it only ended up this bad.”
He said it with an intentionally forced smile. Losing his right eye was hardly something that could be laughed off so easily, especially for someone like him, who primarily worked alone. At worst, it was an injury severe enough to force him into retirement from the adventuring business.
“Can’t Fana’s holy magic heal it?”
“An eye that’s already partially healed can’t be fixed. Holy magic only accelerates healing by consuming stamina, after all.”
Fana shook her head regretfully in response to Patema, who had been clinging to a faint hope. Even miracles of the goddess were not all-powerful when they came in the form of holy magic mediated through human prayer.
“Don’t worry about it too much. I was on the brink of death, and you all saved me. I’ve got nothing but gratitude. There’s no way I could blame anyone. If anything, I’d like to do something to repay you.”
“R-repay us…?”
“Yeah. You’re my lifesavers. Anything I can do, I will do it.”
“A-anything…!?”
Despite the casual tone with which Balg tossed those words out, tension rippled through the group of four.
For the past three days, they had continued nursing him in a cave where no sunlight reached. They carried out the care while repeatedly fending off attacking monsters. On top of that, the patient himself had been baring a heroic, obscenely erotic body, and thanks to the side effects of the medicine, he had been grotesquely erect the entire time. Even while being forced to see that up close, they had restrained themselves, telling themselves they couldn’t lay a hand on the patient.
But Balg-san said himself that he’s pretty much recovered already, didn’t he?
That thought was shared among the four. They stole a glance at Balg, who was sitting up and eating his bread porridge with clear enjoyment. His muscles might have weakened a little, but his thick, sturdy physique was still very much intact.
“……”
Gulp.
All four swallowed audibly at the same time. They were like dogs forced to sit before the finest cut of meat, separated from it by an invisible wall. Or like donkeys chasing a carrot dangling in front of them, never able to quite reach it no matter how hard they ran.
Simply put, all four of them were sexually frustrated.
“A-ahem. When it comes to contributing the most to Balg-san’s care, that would be me, wouldn’t it?”
Fana spoke up, projecting an air of “I don’t mean anything by it, but naturally I’d be first.” In truth, without her, Balg would almost certainly have died. Her appropriate treatment had unquestionably decided his fate.
And yet, she was rubbing her thick thighs together restlessly, her nipples visibly swelling even through her heavy priestess’s robes. At this point, no matter how seriously she tried to act like a holy servant, her true nature was already well known to her companions. What she was about to demand was obvious at a glance.
“If it weren’t for the mushroom I just happened to have on hand, Balg wouldn’t have recovered this much either.”
The one who cut off Fana before she could voice her demand was Patema. The mushroom she had coincidentally (definitely purely by chance) been carrying, the Kabutowari Mushrooms, had enhanced Balg’s vitality. The fact that he had survived having the skin of his entire body dissolved and recovered to this extent in just three days was clearly thanks to the mushroom’s rather dangerous medicinal effects.
However, Patema’s cheeks were flushed red, and her mouth hung slack. Her normally sharp expression was nowhere to be seen, leaving one to wonder what kinds of fantasies were running through her head.
“Hold on. I’m the one who carried Balg here and protected him from monsters, you know. In terms of physical labor, you could say I contributed the most.”
Nerva was the one who raised an objection. After healing several shattered ribs overnight, she had continued to serve as Balg’s protector, handling combat duties. Underground caves were normally a hellscape where countless monsters attacked day and night. The only strange thing was that the first night had somehow passed without incident even without a lookout.
On top of that, Nerva had regularly moved Balg’s body to prevent bedsores. That was also a task neither the frail Fana nor Patema could have managed. Even so, her tail was swaying restlessly from side to side, and her ears were twitching as well. Though she kept her expression composed out of an elder’s pride, her tail and ears more blatantly than anything else revealed her true feelings.
“Everyone, what are you talking about? I’m the one who never left his side for even a moment, right?”
Sierra raised her hand.
Her words were no exaggeration. Over those three days, she truly hadn’t left Balg’s side even once…. Well, that was a bit of an exaggeration. She did go out to “pick flowers” about once every thirty minutes. Still, in terms of devoted nursing care, she had tended to him diligently, with an almost angelic affection.
“And we can’t go putting too much strain on Balg-san either, so I’ll calmly represent everyone here as the leader—”
“Don’t bring up leader privileges only at times like this. I’m the one who trained at a monastery, so I should—”
“All you did there was collect perverted knowledge. You’d drain him dry until he died.”
“Enough, you cuckold fetishist! This is for me, his lover—”
A spark casually tossed by a man ignited the gas that had been filling the air. A short distance away, the girls of the Aurora Blade pressed their heads together and began arguing. Watching them, Balg tilted his head in confusion.
“Well, I mean… All four of you took care of me, and it’s not like it has to be just one person or anything…”
Those careless words reached the girls’ ears. Their shoulders twitched, and slowly, four faces turned toward Balg.
“All four together…”
“Balg, you’re quite the sturdy one, huh?♡”
“Yo-You want to enjoy yourself while showing others enjoying you too…?”
“But… Balg-san is supposed to be mine…”
Their eyes changed. This was exactly what that phrase meant. Seeing the strange light that settled into their gazes, Balg felt a primal fear rise up within him. How to put it… It was like being bound up and presented before starving beasts who hadn’t eaten for three days and three nights.
“H-hey, what’s wrong? Your expressions are kind of scary…”
“Don’t worry, Balg-san. We’ll be gentle.”
“Haa, haa…♡ You just lie back and relax, Balg…♡”
“G-gulp… I-I’m fine going last, you know…♡”
“I-if everyone else is going to take you, then I will too!”
The four of them crept closer. Balg’s strength hadn’t yet recovered enough for him to move freely. This was the deep recesses of a cave. There was no one and by no one, it meant no one at all, to interfere.
