Although the viewer count was still climbing, Yuu reluctantly disconnected from Sphere.

“For now, let’s head to the Chōfu branch instead of headquarters. We’ll part ways there.”

Afterward, they delivered the Black Wolf corpse to the Association branch as research material, and the two of them parted ways. Yuu then headed to Association headquarters for treatment and to submit his report.

“Got it. Well then, excuse me.”

The treatment took roughly two hours. Next, he needed to report to Aina. Yuu had himself transferred to reception and headed to Reception Room B.

“Aina-san, good work today.”

“Good work. Have a seat.”

He got straight to the point and began his report on the Chōfu B2 dungeon. He told her there were a decent number of magic stones and other materials in the unexplored areas. Though he couldn’t be sure if it was an irregularity, but to be safe, he’d submitted the corpse of the gate boss Black Wolf to the Chōfu branch. He also told them it might be worth considering raising Chōfu B2’s dungeon rank.

“I see. We’re still investigating Asakusa B7, so switching focus to Chōfu B2 right away is a bit difficult right now…”

“Yeah, that’s understandable. But up to the gate we cleared, there were definitely only B-rank-level monsters. It’s what’s beyond the gate that’s the problem.”

“Hm… For now, I’ll look into restricting entry to A-rank attackers only for Chōfu B2. Still, we sure are getting a lot of suspicious dungeons lately.”

“Right. It’s starting to make me think we shouldn’t push too far into unexplored territory anymore…”

This was Yuu’s honest opinion. It wasn’t that he’d grown tired of the so-called 3K work of exploring uncharted areas. There was a common belief that monsters residing past unopened gates wouldn’t appear in already explored areas. If that were true, then perhaps staying away from deeper investigation would keep things in the dungeon stable for common attackers.

It seemed Yuu wasn’t yet crazy enough to throw himself entirely into reckless exploration just to satisfy his need for recognition.

“That’s not true. There’s still so much we don’t understand about dungeons. That’s exactly why investigation is essential. We’re incredibly grateful to have your help, Kishido-kun.”

“And that’s why the Association’s been in chaos lately, right? In a way, I guess I’ve just drawn the short straw again and again…”

This was due to the fact that he’d gotten multiple irregular cases in such a short span of time.  At some point, it stopped being coincidence and just felt like pure bad luck.

“Short straw, huh. I suppose that’s one way to look at it. But it’s not like things can stay hidden forever. Eventually, everything will come to light. It’s just a matter of time. You’ve got nothing to feel responsible for.”

“…Thank you.”

“In any case, there’s no need to dwell on it. It’s our job to worry based on your reports. I don’t want our attackers to feel burdened. Maybe you’re just pushing yourself too hard. For now, focus on resting and recovering.”

“You’re right. I’ll try to clear my head a bit. Well then, I’ll take my leave.”

“Yeah. I’ll be happy if you keep doing your work without holding back. You really worked hard today.”

With that, Yuu finished his report to Aina. Being able to get a few thoughts off his chest seemed to lift his spirits slightly on his way out.
